I have a few comments to make. 1. It is better to protect chrome with a plastic brush and not with a metal brush. 2. Stickers are well removed if they are heated with a hair dryer. I do not know how Google will transfer the translation correctly)))
Me referng to a Fox 40, where is the damper? And where the Air/Spring chamber? All i saw was a piece of Rubber to protect the Stanchions and the Rods that kept the Lower legs on the Stanchions... additionaly why Yellow? this looks like a building equipment, i personaly dont like this colour on a fork at all...
Not everyone would care to do a video and restoration on this fork, so thanks. There’s many of us out there that still use these because we can’t afford those air forks. Great job!
My compliments for NOT having music in the background, and the real sounds were like sound effects in themselves, and SO satisfying to hear along the way. Nice overhaul job, wow. You are inspiring me to do mine.
does this fork have springs?..when you disassembled the fork i did not see any springs?...i have an old mtb that also says zoom on the sticker..before i clean the fork out i need if there are springs on this zoom fork?...thanks.
Yes this does have springs. They are in the lower stanchion and we're not removed in this video. I did manage to remove mine, one had some grease on it the other was moist with water ingress and muck.
Great job! but... what happened with the springs? Were they so damaged that you had to replace them completely? Did you restore them? That is something I would like to see. Thanks!
I wonder if there even were springs because they could never be secured by the plastic thing he puts in the upper leg. But thats where they should have went. I'm also sure he would have showed us the springs to make the video more interesting..
@@parrr3068 Yes there are springs. They are inside the lowers, not inside the stanchions. They are secured by the long bolts. Also, there is one seal that is missing on his long bolt. It looks like that he didn't removed the springs, i don't know why. I can say that most of the rust and mud are in the lowers, on the springs... I have the same fork but mine was waaaaaaay more rusted 😅
Thank you for your video. This must be the only one with this type of front suspension using a spring in the lower part. All the others i have looked at are oil, oil or air and oil. I have a 20" wheel with a threaded headstem. Trying to find a replacement is not easy, so this has helped to at least do a partial restore. No spares available anywhere unless someone out there can point me in the right direction.
Those forks are in excellent condition compared to some I have renovated. I would use a brass brush rather than a stainless steel brush to remove that rust. You have scratched the chrome which will cause issues later. Have you ever considered using heat to help remove the stickers?
If the springs are too weak are there standard sizes you can find somewhere to replace? Even on older bikes? Or are they all custom sizes and you will never be able to switch them out to new springs? Thanks! Great video!

I hope you can find the time to help me ... I have not been able to get the forks to drop apart I have been turning the bolt on both sides for days... Can you give me some info on what I can do to get them apart ...
I have a suspension very similar to that, but it goes with oil to maintain it, is it the same? Did you carry hydraulic oil or someone else in particular?
Thank you for watching.
Subscriptions and likes are a big boost to the next video.😀

I have a question. Have you applied the varnish 2 times? Before the ZOOM label and then over the label?
@@Kobenchack Thank you! The logo was painted and then varnished.

Hello
It's really cool how simple old bike parts are. I love restorations on stuff like this and the paint job is insane!
Not everyone would care to do a video and restoration on this fork, so thanks.

Great job!
it's okay to use non air forks but this one it's crap, just gen an Suntour simple fork and it would be 100 better than this on the video

y el elemento amortiguador ? esa horquilla lleva resortes o elastómeros ? me hubiese gustado ver que la desarmaras completa....
