Aww, I love a supportive mom! I also still want to read Rhythm of War before Wind and Truth drops, so hopefully I’ll be joining you this month, but Fury of the Gods is also really calling and for some reason I always crave sci-fi in November. There’s just too many books!!
I read Evil Monkey Robot in my Masters of Education program. It was a class on school and classroom policy. It's a super interesting read when putting it into that context.
Between Two Fires opened me to a whole new genre, now I'm dying to find anything else like it. Highly recommend The Library at Mount Char if you haven't read it.
Glad you enjoyed Between Two Fires, I just din't vibe with the direction the ending went in. Really need to get around to some Sanderson at some point, will likely be 2025 for me now though.
I’ll be very curious to hear how you feel about Sanderson. He’s a lot of people’s “gateway” to fantasy and I wonder how people already well versed in fantasy like you will find his work. I’m personally a huge fan.
I listened to the audio for Jonathan Strange and I wasn't a fan. But I think that perhaps it might have been a better read to have done with a physical copy rather than audio. It felt longer and confusing to me on audio. Piranesi is on my TBR and I hope to read it in 2025.
Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell is definitely a very long book and I don’t imagine it’s for everyone. There’s a lot going on throughout the book and also somehow not always that much going on in the book at the same time. If you ever do pick it up again I really think following the schedule and pace set by Hardy’s books and watching their videos at the checkpoints really helped me get the most out of it! I do hope you pick up Piranesi and I’d love to know your thoughts on it when you do!
@@charlie-read-a-book I do want to try it again, because whenever I hear people talk about it, it sounds like something I would like! I'll definitely check out the schedule you mentioned. That's a great idea. I've heard so many people speak so highly of Piranesi! I'm looking forward to when I get to it.
It was so good! Have you read it? I think it’s a great game and definitely approachable. It’s definitely more in the category of a tabletop role playing game than a traditional board game but if you’re looking for something solo I definitely think it’s a good one to check out. If you do check it out I go through character creation in my last video and would recommend at least watching through that part to see if it sounds interesting! I found character creation intimidating for some reason but it’s easy and you get to be creative with the whole game.
@ I realized after I commented that I probably should have watched that video first. Haha! I have read it! It’s one of my all-time favorites. It’s been a few years since I read it: I have been itching to re-read it! When I first read it, reading Clarke’s collection, The Ladies of Grace Adieu, was a great balm to the book hangover Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell gave me.
Hahahaha no no you watch whatever you want whenever you want to! And yes I’m thinking I need to pick Grace Adieu up kind of ASAP - she also just put out another collection if you need more! The Wood at Midwinter
@@charlie-read-a-book I plan on reading it in December. It's only a short story: I think it originally was a radio play and it's just a physical edition of the same radio play.
@@SheWasOnlyEvie Oooooooh very cool -- I don't know where I got the idea that it was another collection from haha. Thanks for letting me know. This month is looking like it'll be a lot of short stories for me so I might be picking that one up!
🥹🥹🥹 you are so welcome, thanks for joining in and for the amazing shout out and we love you lots! ❤❤

As a newbie board game player, is that journaling game good for a newbie?
