    I have lived in Tanzania for three years now and already had many short-term visitors. (2 - 6 months). If this is your Swahili after just a month you are the most talented in learning a language I ever have seen. Really really really well done, especially with the tribe language. We live with the wafipa at lake Tanganyika and they say wahehe eats dogs ;-) - We studied in Iringa.

      Hard to believe to have learnt that in one month. But he maybe an exception. From my experience and
      Expats that live in east africa who want to learn usually can have a conversation in swahilli after 4-6 months.

    Really cool to watch. I bet its an amazing experience to be able to go over into a completely different country and culture and communicate with the locals in their own language. I feel disconnected from so many of these countries because I can't speak their language.

    I loooove seeing people visiting and exploring my country. It is always a pleasure to re-see this beautiful place through non-Tanzanian eyes. Thank for documenting this na Karibu sana Tanzania.
    That's some real progress for just a month. Hongera sana SiYuan.
    Also, you took me out when you called the bodaboda (tuktuk) guy 'Bwana'. We don't use that often, I actually don't remember anyone using it in an informal setting. And no, don't use rafiki either! Just say asante until you figure out how to incorporate 'mkuu, chief, mtu wangu, swahiba' etc in conversations.
    Also, why did you put the tomatoes, peppers in your bag? Those things are dusty, ask for 'kifungashio' next time.

    He has the accent right. That's the amazing thing about this video. The Ugandan in me is jealous because he speaks better Swahili than me. He's also respectful and genuinely interested in the locals he meets along the way. Not an attitude we see much among the foreigners who visit these parts of the world.

    I lived in TZ (mwanza, nyakato sokoni) as a teenager, I used to be an mzungu swahili speaker too, but alas I quit using it when I moved back to the US and forgot most of it. Your videos make me miss Tanzania, I loved the culture there.

      I have some tips. Take the Bible in English and another in Kiswahili then read the verses here and compare there. But get to know the basics first from a teacher. Do the same with the Qur'an. There is a very good translation by Sheikh Abdullah Saleh Al Farsy.

      Write down words you don't know and try learn 5 new words a day

      ahah cheers my g, I took a 3 month optional course at uni before coming so I learnt the grammar basics then, since being here I've just been building on my vocab and conversation skills

      Glad you liked the video - are you just starting to learn Swahili? In the future maybe I could post a couple of videos about Swahili basics, e.g. greetings, food, grammar

      Yeah some swahili basics would be great! I know bits and pieces or as they say in swahili - Kidogo Kidogo
      Funny things is I'm born & raised in London, my Background is Kenyan but I wasn't taught swahili when I was young so now, age 21, I'm trying to learn it now

      @@byshiri1751 take what it takes to learn the language. I have learned several languages including Arabic but Swahili is almost the easiest of all

    Oh wow! I'm from Hong Kong and I am currently learning Kiswahili. How did you become so fluent after just one month of living in Tanzania? I was in Kenya for one year and I'm ashamed to say that my Kiswahili is nowhere as good as yours! What are you doing in Tanzania? Did you only start learning the language after arriving in the country? This is so impressive (and I am very jealous lol)!
