"Welcome to PLZ Soccer's RUclips channel back here in Glasgow today. I'm joined by two German-born Scotland fans, Angus and Malcolm. How are we both doing today, guys?
Well, thanks, very excited, thanks.
I'm well, thanks.
So, both you guys, I hear a little whisper that both you guys will be supporting Scotland tonight. Could you just give us a little insight into how you came to be Scotland fans born in Germany?
Well, for me, it's all about the passion that Scotland has, the team has, the country has, the fans have, and I've always watched Scotland, and I just love it more than the German side.
Yeah, I'm just supporting Scotland because obviously, my big brother was supporting Scotland since he was young, and all the Scottish family that we have in Scotland. And yeah, I think Mum was probably a big part of it as well because she always wanted us to support Scotland as well. Obviously, my dad's from Germany, so it was always between Germany and Scotland, but I think Scotland's a bit of the underdog, so that's why I would probably support them more. Yeah, that's probably the reasons.
And we've all seen the scenes back here of Germany, and I'm sure you've seen them as well, 200,000 Scotland fans. What's the atmosphere like around the country just now with the tournament being played?
Well, it's high tensions already in school and everywhere else you go. You can see German flags hanging out the windows, getting all ready, so the Germans are ready as well. But obviously, we've heard about the Scottish side, and we're very excited for them as well, seen the videos of the fans, and it's amazing. I'm looking forward to it.
You guys are probably best placed to tell us who should Scotland be looking out for tonight? Who are the players that could really do damage to Steve Clarke's side?
I think obviously everyone knows that Wirtz and Muller, they're two brilliant players. So I think both of them could do some damage, but I think if we get them under control, I think we could then win that game if we just defend properly and put 100% on the pitch.
And I'm just going to put you on the spot just for a second, if that's okay, and get a score prediction from both of you.
Well, I think if we've got a good structure and we get a few counterattacks and lucky, a few ones, there may be a 2-0.
Yeah, I'm optimistic. I think Scotland will win 2-1. Germany played 2-2 against Ukraine and only 2-1 against Greece, so I think Scotland has a chance, and I hope they'll win 2-1.
We'll see tonight if those predictions come true when Scotland take on Germany in the opening game of the Euros. Thank you guys for joining us today on PLZ Soccer. Thank you very much.

In a similar boat to these lads. Despite being born here in *Toronto-Canada* both of my late parents hailed from the *’Auld Country.’ Glasgow & Aberdeen* respectively. So supporting any other country as feverishly & passionately as I do *Scotland* when it comes to *The Beautiful Game* has never been in question & or even crossed my mind. As evidenced that then when the opening match of the *2024 Euros* kicks off today in *Germany* (on the telly here in Toronto at 3:00pm EST) you can bet your bottom dollar that my son, my 3 daughters, my charming *Philippines* born wife & I will all be cheering the lads on to victory. 🤞🏼 With undying love & respect …
