Hello, I just found your channel. Thank you for sharing your story. My husband and I plan to move to the Philippines someday and I appreciate this community so much. I know I'll still learn a lot from you about expat life so look forward to seeing what you do next.
9 years in for us, never looking back, never any doubts this was the place to live. It has changed, but not so much out here in the province. The WHOLE world is crazy insane, and we feel here in the countryside... we are less impacted.
@randy bryant - I checked out your channel and find it very interesting. One suggestion though so that u can grow your channel, turn the comments on. That way you can maybe help out others that may have questions for you.
Been in Parañaque from sept to march and not moticing all the rain. I was actually wondering where more was. Maybe it just comes and dumps theneaves and that's why ot doesnt seem bad. In Md it gets so dreary for days you forget wbat the sun looks like. That i cannot cope with due to depression. But in Philippines Parañaque I never experienced that yet.
Try to go to Marinduque, a small island province in Southern Tagalog region (MIMAROPA). It’s very peaceful there, lots of amazing beaches, waterfalls, caves, etc. Marinduque is most peaceful place in the Philippines with a Zero crime rate. God bless you always sir🙏☺️
I love the people, the culture, the relaxed atmosphere. I'm itching to go back and have 2 weeks to go. Be there for a month, but I guarantee you I won't want to leave 😁. Not a big fan of the rain but it's something I'll learn to live with in order to have a much better (and cheaper) lifestyle.
You're sure right about the rain. It's not normal. I've read that the eruption of the Tonga volcano in the South Pacific has disrupted the normal monsoon currents and therefor the weather here is changed as well. Down Under they are getting more rain than normal as well on their east coast. I've lived here since 2017 when my wife decided to retire from her job in The US, it is much more relaxing. Everyone is so nice. We were splitting our time between The US and here, but now we only plan to spend a month there and the rest of the time here. It's more cost effective traveling from here to the places we haven't seen and the flights in The US are so messed up and expensive since the airlines had to let so many employees go because they refused vax. Good luck with your travels. the dog
Many points similar to other expats in Tland too..the big underlying denominator is stress, we don’t realize how much until we experience Tland or PI..as the plane is descending into CM I can feel any stress dissipating, it’s like coming home..🙏🏻🕊🇹🇭🇵🇭
@@bighand1530Baguio is a tourist spot but most of them are Filipinos. The taxi drivers are very nice. They know all the places and they drive good. It is a clean place. It is prohibited to smoke outside. I just want to go there for a vacation but not to live there.
I totally agree with you. However, I just spent 2 weeks in Digos city, and we had no rain problem as far as I can recall. I met you in the mall in Digos so I know you lived in Digos for quite a while. I think Digos is one of the best places to be in on the Island of Mindanao. I have my simple abode in Pattaya, Thailand now. So if you are coming to this country, I would be happy to meet you again. Or in Norway where I will go soon. God bless you my friend.
In regards to the weather, it has totally changed. When I was a kid, December to May was not rainy at all most especially from March to May. I can remember that it was always sunny and very hot. Now, it has totally changed. For the last two years since I arrived back in the Philippines, I notice that there were fewer rainy days from May to July and the supposedly "summer months" are having a lot of rainy days.
That's definitely true about the friendliness. Not to say other countries aren't friendly, but I'm fairly well traveled and I've never been anywhere that is as welcoming as the Philippines. I also agree on cost of living. It's honestly not very much cheaper than where I live in Arkansas. If cost of living was my main factor it would not be my first choice of location.
Every country has parts expensive and cheap. It always depends on the location. The good thing about the Philippines is that, whether the place is expensive or cheap, people are the same.
If you have a family here in philippines and you are foreigner, the best thing you must do is make business, because you are a boss, the more people, the big chance to succeed
Alot of thing brother, observe the environment what people always needed, making a business is a trial and error, even elon mosk, bell gates, and jack mah, alot of error before.come they succeed, thats the nature of business but dont surrender, even me i plant to make a business in the future
Hello Dr. Laway. I've also been living in the Philippines for almost one year now. I live in western Visayas part of the Philippines Negros Occidental originally from the US. One area of the Philippines can be somewhat different than another area especially with the weather. But my one question to you is does the threat of China possibly invading Taiwan or the Philippines play in your decision to leave the Philippines and maybe return to the US? Thanks 😊
I've also been here a year and I agree with your assessment. It's good to split time between USA and Philippines because of their complimentary qualities. Best of luck to you going forward.
i am much interested in why you name your channel Dr. Laway hahaha who talked you into doing that :D i do understand the humor about that though that you like to talk :D
Thanks for this video, but I'm a little confused?🤔 The media and some other vloggers are always talking about the crime issue. I loved it there visiting Davao and Trento, but now I read where I was in danger in Trento. 🤔 (Eastern Mindanao) Could u please try to explain this to me,.being feet on the ground. 👍 Thank u!!
I've been here almost a year and there are trade offs. But feel that what I've given up is more than made up for what I have gained. My future wife and I plan to travel after the wedding. S.E. Asia at first and by the time that is done, hopefully E.Europe will have calmed down. Serbia, Croatia are on the list as is Albania and Lithuania. Good luck to you and your family on you future endeavors.
I missed the “ more videos to come “ explaining why. Lol I’ve been in the Philippines for one year and I’m going back to America to work for a while . Hard part is leaving my wife . She’s afraid to leave her family even for a while having never traveled before .
Hi mate. It's a pity you have to leave the Philippines. We're still building our house and rebuilding Redwire Store in Tuy Batangas. It's coming along really well. I want to get another store in the main street in Tuy or Nasugbu Batangas. Then I'll prepare to move to the Philippines permanently. I need to sort out the internet connection to our new house as well. As we're in a valley and away from the main road, I need to install a satellite dish for wifi and a 4G booster system for the mobile/cell phones. Hope to see you one day in the Philippines. David & May Redwire Store, Tuy Municipality Batangas Province Philippines 🇵🇭
Here in the state, they steal, they become homeless, in the Philippines they’re happy even though, they almost have nothing left, they smile through the problem that’s how they get though the days
kaya di umuunlad tong pinas kasi ganyan mentality natin, ok lng daw kahit mahirap ang importante masaya pero kaya kung may magkasakit sa pamilya ayun iiyak iyak kasi walang pambili ng gamot.
I've noticed that the rain has really been falling everywhere in the Philippines except parts of Luzon. Is this normal? When is the best time to avoid the rain?🌴
I think, in general, its their culture. Family is first, having fun is second, helping each other out, they are resourceful and creative and they are very welcoming and friendly...importantly, most speak English
I love the greenery view.
Great info 👍

The rain sucks most of the time but at least it is a little colder 😂
@axizcorp Tad bit cooler 😎. Lived in Florida for 10 yrs and easily acclimated to the weather. But I tend to favor warm weather anyhow 😁.
I wouldn’t mind more rain where I’m at.
@Big Hand wheres that? Southern islands of the PI?
I go to the beach and take a swim in the ocean when it rains. Love that rain, so refreshing. Also, buy a few umbrellas and boots

It doesn't matter where people live, until they retire, they are forced to deal with the "daily grind." And so it goes.
wow thank you so much..🙏
I practice law in the Midwest U.S. Would enjoy trying a virtual nomad phase. Grandkids keep me stateside for now.
I am from missouri. I am looking to leave the US and would love to find a travel buddy.
That is my biggest fear about the Philippines being able to find a quiet place to live.
You should live within the provinces, try some gated subdivision in Iloilo.
Roosters, dogs and cats fighting all night.
The high rise condo is the the fix.
24/7 security. No traffic noise.
@@keith4826 that's exactly what I was thinking and hopefully I don't have karaoke neighbors LOL

Yes. You will always have family and somewhere to leave in the Philippines, if you're a Filipino.
