Problem is for the most part people get told "wear your harness" but most don't actually understand how to use it properly.... I'm not a scaff but I use harness in work, it seems like the best thing for scaffolding is restraint rather than fall arrest (ie short lanyards so you literally CAN'T fall off) but I see guys on scaffolds wearing long lanyards clipped on at foot level, which as you say is just going to end up with you hitting the next lift on the way down...
I'm no expert by any means but I'm not sure a lot of people are actually being taught how to use a harness properly, or about fall factors or different systems of restraint.
The old school answer is usually "yeah well just don't fall off" which is true I guess 😂 but a colleague once said "it's ok I won't fall" - and I replied you know who else said that? Every c*nt who ever fell to their death probably.
Anyway, whatever you do stay safe lad! All about getting home to your family at the end of each day

@@schnozz87 cheers mate a lot of good information for people in that. Problem with short lanyards if you can’t do any work as you can’t move anywhere. Good feedback tho thanks

Yes again I would never do this unless specified by design or run out of swivels. It does same thing as long as it’s done correctly they can’t fail you for it. Haha it’s just preference
