Resonator is to cut down drone? I never knew that. I always thought it was just an "auxiliary" muffler of sorts. I ran a test pipe (so catless) with just a factory res, no muffler on my mk3 VR and it sounded great, despite it being a bit of a ghetto set up. I think total cost was like 60ish bucks for the tubing and used test pipe. Drone will make you insane.

I couldn't do it .. mine sounded so bad straight pipes no cat .. so went with high flow cat and dual mufflers sounds way better it's alot deeper vs just loud .. wasted alot of money on 2 dp's and 2 cat backs ..

A downpipe will not cause a CEL unless its a catless downpipe with no false o2 sensors provided.
Yes it does .. I have had high flow and catless both kick the light even with a tune .. even if you add a 02 spacer
