0117: Gundam 00 Review Part 2

You might have been thinking, "Wow, did Gundam 00 really kill Brian and Isaac?" The answer is no. We would never relent to our nemesis! On this episode, we focus all our newtype potential into finishing the fight against the Innovade menace in Gundam 00 Season 2! This show raises the stakes in the back half as Ribbons abuses his brain WiFi powers; Graham becomes Mr. Weeaboo; Lyle replaces Neil even though cyborg-Neil is a way better idea; Louise and Saji forget how to use a phone; Sumeragi hooks up with Allelujah (or was it Hallelujah?); and Setsuna evolves into an Innovator because reasons. Plus, we discuss Gundam the Musical, the prospect of livestreaming nude limbo, and even make a Beerfest reference.

that's funny that you brought up hearing Brad's more Amuro sounding voice for the EN voice audio. Did you know in the JP audio, there is a voice acting in-joke where Ribbons was voiced by the same actor for Amuro. His name is listed as an alias name to hide that casting decision since it spoils it once he starts talking. But it makes the dialogue for Ribbons and the scenes he's in have a different feeling when you re-frame it as "hehehe it's Amuro but Evil Amuro". Because of this, that it extends to the 0 Gundam being evil RX-78-2 and then Reborns Gundam being evil Nu Gundam/Hi Nu Gundam. You can even spot key frame animation of the 0 Gundam having the same animation movement as the RX-78-2 at the very end as a wink wink nudge nudge to existing Gundam fans. If the dub staff had been more aware, they would have cast Brad as Ribbons to preserve this in-joke and carry it over to those watching the Eng dub.
