I can guarantee you that the other teams waiting for their turn would have been thinking 'well there goes the Gold'.

I actually already experienced this performance, because me and my team (Montenegro) lost against the same Japanese team on this years Worlds University Championship. Even at that time I thought they can beat the Italians, with their slightly "dirty" but furious technique. But then again - Maybe that's just the way I want karate to be! Cheers

Yeah I'm not even a black belt yet he says he's teaching it to me for when I do competitions later in life and even though I've been doing it for almost 2 years he says i still have about 5 years to go until I can even think about entering a competition doing this Kata.

Far better? They lost 5:0. . Kata against kata => very close.. But Japanese showed true meaning of karate, had an amazing bunkai which wasn't even in the same league with Italian bunkai.

Thanks for your friendly disagreement but 5-0 doesn't mean a huge margin, referees are tired to see the same kata, same bunkai, same performer and same Luca though Team Italy is better in synchronization, stances, power techniques. However, Team Japan came to the championship with brand new way to perform Kata and bunkai which make us open our eyes wide,is not a higher level but a level much attractive and fresh,is a mile stone for Kata and
This is " Meiji Restoration in Karate".

Once again, in my own opinion, I remain my position that Team Italy was far better than Team Japan in general speaking because bunkai is not everything though people judging the bunkai as the whole performance.
Make no mistakes, really like the young team Japan and they will stay on the top for the next few years.

In my opinion, team Italy is far better than team Japan, but they have something new and unbeatable FRESH AIR into Luca dynasty.
Thanks for their instructors and JKF and of course this young team
