Cory Lopez was in town with his kids, and SCORED some good fun Cape Hatteras surf courtesy of a Tropical System in the Atlantic. I hadn't seen Cory in a couple years, so it was good to get together and surf again, and have our kids surf together for the first time. What an epic day of waves and stoke!

Malia is fearless. So stoked for your kids surfing. They know what true stoke is.
Second session you could really see Masen step up his game surfing with Luke. Its huge when groms have someone else their age pushing them.
Masen has some local boys that push him. He wouldn't be where he is without them. but Luke is definitely on another level for his age.
corey and shea, IRB legends, so cool to see his kids shred, goofy or not, they got that drop knee style, cant wait to see what those groms do!
At the rate Masen is going, he could reach Luke's level in a year and a half. But, wow, Luke and Alana are definitely blowing up and could be on the pro track if that's the route they choose. Luke is just like Cory, as you said, whereas Alana is sort of different: a regularfooted power carver. All the kids were ripping, and the dads! Great to see.

I grew up watching Cory back in late 90s I have to say your style is very close . Always thought that since I’ve watched u surf . I surfed 89 to 09 on banks u went school with my brother Kyle Havard . Watched every vid u have . Keep ripping.

Surfed OBX for first time two weeks ago when it was big! We were north though nags head...I'm an OCMD surfer I'd like to try Hatteras.
Worked on a fishing boat out of Beaufort years ago... had the capt anchor up offshore Rough Point on Shackleford Banks for an hour long session all alone in head high glass! Work Perks😂
I miss surfing the south side of the point when there was a south swell….before they closed it. You didn’t even have to paddle out. And you would take a left that went for a mile

No, they are on pilings. The ocean goes underneath of them and back out. Some due eventually fall victim and collapse but these houses have been this way since 2012.

The soundtrack sucks. Soundtracks ruin surf videos. The natural sound of the ocean would have been better.
The ocean, and wind, in a camera microphone sounds like White Noise… not the same effect as being there.
@@brettbarley OK. Silence is golden then. Leave off the soundtrack until you have $$$ to buy a better camcorder. This how you do a surf video. You get the combination of surf action and the sound of the waves breaking. Manmade noise sucks in comparison.

Then mute it. But I make surf movies… and no surf movie has ever not used music. Nearly No Hollywood movie has ever not used music. It’s a creation… it’s my art. anyone can pick up a camera, film some stuff, and throw it on the internet. I’m here to create a mood and tell a story. It’s fine that you didn’t like the music, I don’t LOVE the music but it’s all I can afford. I don’t have infinite money to spend on good music. So I hunt for what will work.

Also… our cameras and mics are plenty fine. You’re pipeline reference for audio is incomparable in that it was shot a next to 0 wind day. Until the afternoon, but even then, the beach at pipeline is almost fully out of the wind where people film from… there’s nowhere to get out of the wind around here. Either way, it’s still white noise. And that’s totally fine you enjoy watching raw footage. I enjoy that now and then too, but there’s nothing creative about it.
@@brettbarley Just trying to help you out man. A surf video is not a Hollywood movie. Mother nature creates her own mood and can't be improved on especially by man made noise. Mute button works fine.
Of course, to each his own. But I wasn’t saying surf videos are Hollywood movies. Was only using that as an example of how music creates mood.
