Being from Massachusetts, I’ll always be thankful to Pedro for bringing us a championship, breaking “the curse”. Would love to shake his hand one day. He brought lots of happiness and chemistry to the club.
I'm from Medford, Mass. I was 16 during that and that, up until that point, was the greatest sports moment in my life. As we know, our region got going after that, but that was a SPECIAL moment. The greatest hitter to ever live. My grandfather, a WW2 vet, was telling me that since the day I could start remembering anything 🙏
@@Pronzini1 but was Ruth, really that good? I mean look at the era when he played. Was a whole different game. Wasnt even close to baseball in the 70's, 80's, 90's. Pitchers pitching complete games with ease, even maybe extra innings, and possibly pitching again the next day. Was Ruth good at his time yes. With out a doubt. But the best ever..even as a Sox or Yankee. Idk.
@@Pronzini1, you are correct. Ruth was the greatest. But what I’ll give Ted Williams credit for is that he’s the only player who is even close Ruth. He’s easily the #2 all time.
Angel fan, hated Pedro. But man was he dominant. Say what you will about him. But his peak, especially his early Boston years, was insane. To be as dominant as he ways, height of the steroid years, playing half in fenway, most of his other games in the AL east bandbox parks... Insane.
Im from Mass and was 16 in 99'. Im a DIE HARD sports fan and have been since i can remember anything. When that moment happened, it was the greatest sports memory i had thus far, as far as boston sports go. Ted Williams is the greatest hitter to ever live and the 99' all-star game at Fenway will never be duplicated again. Truly, a special moment

Pedro was the best pitcher of his generation, Ted Williams was the greatest hitter that ever lived.
Not to mention his 1999 season was probably the greatest pitching season of all-time.
He was unstoppable.
Except for Babe Ruth

Growing up in Boston I idolized this guy. I’m 33. I still idolize this guy
I was a boy when the Sox won in '04. Pedro, Nomar, Varitek, Papi and Manny....man good times. Love those guys.
Pedro is a class act. Phenomenal pitcher too

Greatest all-star weekend. Pedro struck out four in two innings including Sosa and McGwire. The HR Derby was awesome as well.
5. Larkin, Walker, Sosa, McGwire & Bagwell. 4 of those were consecutive
Pedro was that pitcher that everybody wanted in their team.
A chilling moment to watch. Especially for a lifetime baseball and Red Sox fan.
Amazing that Pedro could dominate the steroid era....best all star game ever esp with Ted Williams intro and the AC team, red sox fan
The numbers he put up in the steroid era, pitching in Boston also, was absolutely incredible.
Dominating in the steroid era is grossly overstated. In 2017, the MLB teams set a record for HRs in season. It was promptly broken in 2019.
As a Yankees fan this guy was amazing, great arm talent and genius baseball IQ
An all-time great right here!!
He and Greg Maddux were the best two pitchers. Faced roided up freaks and more than held their own.
Not against Tony Gwynn ;)
Pedro el grande.
Even greater as human being .
This all star game was missing one person . BARRY BONDS. Ironic?
pedro was a beast
As a yankee fan its hard not to tip my cap to pedro. After all he is the son of the yankees.
Joseph Boer oh yeah that's why Pedro struck out 17 yankees in a game
Hehehe. 2004, 2007, 2013, 2018. Damn. Just can’t keep Boston out of the papers. O yeah, Haha Brady too.
2022
@@Wolverine8091 .....wasn’t that also the game where the only hit he allowed was a solo hr by Chili Davis?
Those old Yankee rings getting dusty.
Nobody likes people who just foul off the ball..
Pedro ruined the longevity of his career pitching in that game. He never threw over 95 again.
