Good job there. You can pull the radiator with the fans attached. I have an '05 Sorento and I swear it's different than the ones me seen. The trans pan has a corner lopped off not a rectangle. Since you fluid was yucky you should get the trans scanned to see if it set a code.
Hi Eric thanks for the video it was most helpful! Can you tell me if a lower transmission coolant hose was replaced who would be the person to replace it. Would it be the person replacing the transmission or the person replacing the radiator or would it be replaced with both. Would that part need to replaced no matter what if a new/ rebuilt transmission would be put in in place of a bad transmission. Lastly do you know if this you could tell the difference between a factory hose or a OEM hose for the lower transmission coolant hose. Thank you
On 8:20 is answer for me?I'm driving Sorento 2008 2.5 diesel, automatic transmission 5 gears. Now,last week my mechanic lifted up my Kia,and just took the bolt of the AT pan and let it to drain. Now,if only that was done, how much of fluid should be poured? He poured 5 litres or 5.3 quarts. For some reason, dipstick still shows about half an inch above hot level.
This vehicle has always had issues with the coolant so we checked the coolant to see if it was good or if it needed to be topped off and I noticed that it was brown so that's when I knew something was up so I check the transmission and it was also Brown pinkish after I did the drain and replace the filter on the vehicle started shifting normally again and it has been fine ever since I think we got lucky with this one though
thank you for watching! the transmission are different but the principal is the same your filter and transmission pan will be different but it should be easier than this car since your pan will be smaller
Eric if you don't mind me asking, how many miles did your Sorento have on it? I own a 2006 Sorento with 127000 miles. Has been a good vehicle, about a year ago had timing belt kit installed. Now have a valve cover gasket leaking (I think). Want to keep it a few more years. Enjoy your videos.
thank you for much for watching! our Kia Sorento has 227,000 miles and still counting, we did end up selling the vehicle but it's still in the family. if you keep up with the maintenance it can be a great vehicle
If you don't see it the only thing that I can think of is somebody must have removed the transmission at one point and maybe they didn't install the dipstick tube back on, go under the vehicle and check if it's missing
ERICSDIYGARAGE also a local shop told me “ oh blah blah blah you cannot change your transmission filter yourself it is all the way inside the transmission “ why does it sound like a loud of bullshit to make a quick $120
Well done man! Thanks for letting us know that the kit is for the Toyota but is the one we need on a Kia for the Aisin Transmission. Super helped!
Glad to help!

Hey so I'm assuming your radiator was causing the fluid mixture? Or what exactly causes these fluids to mix?
yes that's exactly what happened, the radiator has a built in transmission cooler that when it fails allows the coolant and transmission fluid to mix
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE i am aware of all the sorentos faults and never heard of this issue
it might just be that it was a cheap aftermarket radiator that was used
how did you catch this before it got too bad? Is the transmission still OK?

ERICSDIYGARAGE for sure, good catch. Most people wouldn’t find out until its too late
Thanks so much. Question would that work on 2007 3.8L Sorento? I’m trying to do transmission fluid exchange
thank you for watching! the transmission are different but the principal is the same your filter and transmission pan will be different but it should be easier than this car since your pan will be smaller
Awesome thanks for the answer ✌️

Just got a 2003 Sorento but I can't find the dip stick for the transmission. Not where your have a funnel in video. Am I not seeing it?
If you don't see it the only thing that I can think of is somebody must have removed the transmission at one point and maybe they didn't install the dipstick tube back on, go under the vehicle and check if it's missing
I would have sprayed the valve body and solenoids with some type of electrical cleaner or break cleaner to get all the coolent off
At this point the damage was done,The transmission ended up going out 6 months later.
i just put new transmissions fluid in,but my car 4th gear won‘t catch the speed/ can i get some suggestions?thanks/
check your fluid level. and check if you didnt mess the shifter linkage
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE thanks. I'll ckeck it later. My kia got 142k. It may have more life to go.
@@tomhe2100 this vehicle had 238k miles it should still have plenty life lett
. thanks. My Kia's engine still good. Just the transmission broke down. I checked the level. Its good. But still the 4th gear cant catch up the speed.
How did you know that the transmission filter is bad?
Because it had never been changed and when the coolant and transmission oil mix it better to replace everything
What were the results of the transmission flush.you
Is that the head gasket gear?
I'm not sure what you might be referring to but the head gasket Is in the engine this is the transmission
No quema cuhh 🪖
How many miles did this Kia have)
like 240k
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE damn bro mines almost to 160k I should do it soon
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE I put new brakes, sway bars, and gas tank on it
Hi Eric! I wrote you an email…!!! Did you get it!??
please send me like a period so I can check it again sorry I must of missed it
What do you call that part?
thank you for watching, please add time from the video so I can see what you are referring to
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE thank you sir. I am referring to transmission filter kit
Is this the same as a 2010 Kia Forte
I doubt that its similar this is a 3.5 engine.

@@jordanrieser2703 some transmission have none Serviceable transmission filters
this is not a common sorento issue. yes they have many issues but this is not common
Milky coolant.....uh oh. That can't be good.
Never good, I got lucky, though after a flush, she ran good
He needs a new hair cut
Kia Hyundai are turds. After 100k they start falling apart
