I haven't tried with those tiny containers you were using to pour the ducks yet however am thinking from my waitressing days the tip for pouring water or tea from the pitchers.. when close to full slightly turn the 'pitcher' as pulling up to prevent the liquid from running down the spout, side and onto the customers, floor or table. Also I find when I use the paper cups if I flatten part of the cup and pinch it to an angle still have to use same slight twist and it seems to work.

I am not a fan of those little cups I wont use them!! I can spill just fine all by myself 🤪
