These are a priceless part of movie history. A.D. Flowers and his special effects team rightfully won the Academy Award for their work on the film Tors! Tors! Tora!.
A decades old movie on Pearl Harbor can accurately depict the ships that were there. Meanwhile, Micheal Bay's Pearl Harbor had modern ships in the background, even with the luxury of CGI.
The more recent Pearl Harbor & remake of Midway was a joke & little more than Titanic dressed up as something different. I would rather have watched Tora Tora Tora & the original Midway.
Cringe worthy what he did with Pearl Harbor! When you see the harpers ferry class and ageis class ships in a film that was supposed to be the 1940’s you just cry. Who can take that seriously after seeing them?
I was on a filming expedition out to Bikini Atoll to film and photograph the ship wrecks of the Able/Baker atomic tests. One of the ships I explored and filmed was the Japanese battleship Nagato. We were using mixed gas rebreathers so we had about 50 minutes on the wreck before ascending to decompress. My favorite dive was a solo I did on the Nagato. A stunning ship. Such an adventure.
I'd love to know what the fate of some of these models were. I know that several of the Japanese ships ended in museums, and the Nevada model comes out for parades every now and then.
This collection also had one of the aircraft carriers but the owner of the attraction was generous and it is in an area VFW hall about an hour away. It didn't make the auction preview.
Sorry, I don't know what they sold for. I only attended the preview, I didn't go to the auction. I know Mr. Wood donated the model aircraft carrier KAGA to a veterans' organization. It was gone before the auction preview.

As a kid in the S.F. bay area in the late 70's..I saw these on display at the Hyberina bank. You actually ride inside some of them..just Beautiful!!
I can only dream of an R/C model of the USS Arizona in such a grand scale!

ちなみに古鷹型のミニチュア、連装砲塔なのになぜか``ABAKUMA``だの``ABUKUMA``だの写真説明がついてるのを結構みかけるけど
「阿武隈」は単装砲じゃん。
で、てっきり古鷹は未使用モデルかなーと思って記憶をたどっていくと

ちなみにこの映画に使われた霧島のミニチュアは砲塔配置が金剛型で上部構造物は長門です・・・
とくに後部砲塔の配置
長門なら前から順にカタパルト、第3砲塔、第４砲塔の順だけど
金剛型は第3砲塔、カタパルト、第4砲塔の順だから。
模型雑誌モデルグラフィックスでトラトラトラ特集があったとき「霧島」は「長門」と紹介されてた
同社から発行された「空想科学画報」（だったかな）では「霧島」となっていた。
正確（ではないけど）には両者のあいのこ。
ちなみに「空想科学画報」では艦橋が右なので「加賀」となっていたけれど「赤城」で良いと思う。
現用空母の映像と整合性を高めるための措置だから。
だから「赤城」のミニチュアの艦橋かなり大きめでしょ？
特撮の場面けっこう撮ったらしいから

で、どうしても疑問なのが「大和」
黒澤の企画の段階では
漁師かなんかが「大和」を目撃。
迫りくる戦争を予感するという場面がある。
プロデューサーのエルモ・ウィリアムスは「最高だ！」と言ったとか。
もし大和のミニチュアが作られたのなら見てみたいなあと思うんだけど。

I liked akagi and saga aircraft carriers.
This collection at one time had the Akagi. It made these ships in the video look rather small.
