      Yeah I don't have a lot of land
      Not even An acre
      But I do put a few things here in there out
      But it's the girls they're young
      The oldest one will be nine November
      The baby will turn for in january
      The problem is the baby
      She doesn't care if that strawberries white
      She's just gonna pick it
      Nudget tomatoes potatoes some squash
      Naturally Grown no pesticides or herbicides
      We picked strawberries
      Because my oldest Grandchild love strawberries
      That's why every time I'd get any
      I'm going her room and pick all little green pieces out of her carpet
      We did tigger melons this year
      Along with Several tomatoes
      Including the white snowball
      Black beauty mister stripe
      Which honestly got a really good mister stripey this year
      And I'm not sure what other ones I'm going to get. A few varigated ones
      And then I got black watermelon I also want to get american champion
      And the pumpkin watermelon
      Trying to make sure that my grandchildren know how to use the land to get their own foods
      Of course, because who I am? I can't really get anyone to allow me to work. So i'm not really able to get a lot of anything for myself Or my grandkids
      But hopefully if I inherit something
      I'll be able to use it to buy a form for my grandkids in my daughter
      I love the videos they were really cute

    Wonderful garden tour, thank you for showing end stages of summer and beginning stages of fall gardens. Lots of continued hugs and prayers about Punt. So silly but I burst into tears for you when you turned to wipe your eyes. Not even my pet but most of us have lost a pet so we know how much they mean to us. I know you are trying to be both transparent and sharing with viewers but it has to be tough to balance that with emotions at times. Lots of hugs! 💚

    • @SageandStoneHomestead
      @SageandStoneHomestead  Год назад +2

      Yes sharing with you guys has been super hard. Recently she had become an expected symbol in the garden and she was anticipated and loved by a lot of you. I videoed a whole blubbering explanation but somehow talking about her last month is the garden is really hard. Talking candidly about what happened is hard but not as hard as talking about how happy she was to be "free" outside. I decided to just leave the tear wiping and the words because it was rough.

    • @mistycherie
      @mistycherie Год назад +1

      @@SageandStoneHomestead What you shared was both tasteful and informative in my perspective. *hugs* She had a wonderful life and was really enjoying her time in the garden, and I think it's amazing she had that time to grow out of her shell. I'm sure you feel she (and your family) was robbed of some time to continue that enjoyment, which is the tough part to overcome. But know deep down she was truly happy and loved.

    I"m not sure pill bugs eat plants; pretty sure they are mostly decomposers. Seed starting soil; I buy plain peatmoss and either vermiculite or perlite. I rub them through a 1/4" hardware cloth and use that mix straight in my 2" soil blocks. Then I add sifted compost and / or worm castings to that mix to pot up things that are going into a 4" pot like herbs, tomatoes, peppers, cole crops. That seems to keep nutrition up for them until they go to bigger pots with more of the same mix or into the ground. Lettuce, beets, kale, chard, pak choi all go right into heavily composted soil as soil blocks. This year I have a lot of tomatoes in large tubs and 5 gal buckets. The bottom half of all was a mix of used potting soil and goat bedding compost that was very coarse and not quite finished. As it settled I added more compost, each plant got a couple handfuls of worm castings early on and since then about once a month I've given some organic vegetable fertilizer that was given to me. Those plants have gone crazy, some weeks it takes me an hour or more to tie up and pinch off suckers and LoL I got lazy when it was so hot so now it's a jungle out there.

    • @SageandStoneHomestead
      @SageandStoneHomestead  Год назад +3

      Unfortunately they will eat seedlings! Quite a few gardeners have had problems with them. I really should sift our soil, that would really help the nutrition problem! Thank you! ♥

    I was so happy to see Remmy with you when you walked over to your chaos-planted garden bed. Still so sad about Punt... Glad she was with y'all, though! Curious if you use your birdhouse gourds for anything other than birdhouses? Would any of them perhaps make good candidates for salad bowls or something? I'm thinking we don't have many birds that would use those houses but would it be like Field of Dreams - If you build it (bird house colonies) they will come?

      One of the solutions for them is the cup trick. I'm wondering if I've been dealing with them more often than I've thought too, and I've blamed mice! We HAVE had mouse and rat issues in the greenhouse though, when snow would blow in we would see tracks to and from destroyed plants!

    Oh, Heather! I know the pain of losing a cat so suddenly. We moved with our cat to AR. He had a routine and did so well outside. Every night as the sun went down, he would meet us outside to be locked into the shop for the night. One night, the kids couldn't find him. We ate dinner and went back out. We found him in the road. It broke us more than we could ever imagine an animal could. We still cry when we reminisce about him. Again, I am sorry and feel your pain.
    My fall garden never germinated. I agree there is too much wrong with store bought soils. I think I put contaminated soil in my gardens. All I can do at this point is prep the beds for spring. Our main garden is going to be taken apart and give to sheep as a pasture.

Direct sow doesn't work well the way the soil is in the greenhouse right now, it's very much clay still.

      @@SageandStoneHomestead I am not local to your area but love to purchase some and don’t mind paying for postage🤗. Typically dry rabbit manure don’t weight that much so if your interested selling let me know.

    I am very sorry for the loss of punt it made my heart drop. I do know how it feels to loose a pet in such a way. I've lost a couple of my hens due to living close to the road. I've had to chase them with a broom many times to help them learn to not go up front even though we have a fence some of them still can squeeze through. What bothers me as well is that no one ever stops, i would have atleast enough decency to own up even though it would have been an accident. Or in one of my hens case some guy just thought it was funny seeing a chicken cross the road chasing a bug and sped up😠 even though we live on a back road people get in the straight stretch in front of our house and put the peddle to the metal as they say. Enough about that.. on a positive note today is another cheese making day, also tomato seed saving from a new tomato my husband got me called kumato and is brown, which is a nice break cause we just put up our hayfield full of squarebales, right now its just the farmers type cause i don't have any vegetable rennet but i hope to be able to place an order soon. I want to try to make cream cheese. I have your dairy playlist saved and hope to make the cheesecake to. Ophelia was so full this morning she was dripping, i looked at the twins and asked them what they had been doing cause obviously they hadn't been helping relieve mama. I so enjoy being nestled up to her side and hearing the milk hit the pail. And i am pretty sure that my husband is gonna let me get schwanli and pepper so i will get to enjoy it even more! Our anniversary is in October so i think thats helping some😉❤🐐🥛

      I meant to send you a photo of pepper earlier too!! She is in a video I'm putting up tomorrow so you can show him that maybe? It's dark now to run down to the barn.
      The person who hit Punt texted Levi, it was a neighbor. It was night time and she is black, and she darted into the road. I feed bad for him too because surely he didn't mean to hit her. ❤️

      @@SageandStoneHomestead i didn't mean to seem disrespectful if i did, i am glad they said something instead of ignoring. I just rescued a pair of bourbon red turkeys, the owners told me that they was gonna put them down cause they kept getting on their porch and pottying. Hopefully they adjust well. They seem gentle and love cherry tomatoes. Yes the video will be just fine no worries ❤🐐

    Hi Heather! I have a question regarding the rabbit manure. When part of the manure turns white and kind of powdery do you think that is mold? I saw some in yours and I have some in mine. Just wondering if you knew or if anyone else did. 🤍

      This is actually a GOOD type of fungi that really helps the nutrition transfer from the soil to the plants! Let me look up the name of it real quick and you can read up on it! Super interesting!

      It says on there " They look like fungi but are actually a bacteria"! I hadn't retained that from the last time I read this article!
