Bro… I don’t know. You were lei’d by a local in the airport. That was more than good enough (imo). Take a day to just relax next time without vlogging. You’ll love it even more!!
Hawaiian leis are to signify a special event and other occasions. Kyles friend was spot on greeting him and JoJo at the airport with leis and at Luau is another significant place to receive one. They are not as commonplace as Kyle's expectations, though they are special and wonderful to receive.
As a person who has family raised and born in hawaii, the lei’s is definitely too many Hollywood movies and social media expectations. Also, wearing a plumeria on your left ear means you are married 😉😂
About the Leis, I understand the expectation and it’s definitely a bummer that you are disappointed. But personally I feel like they are something you wear for a bit then leave in your room to die and I don’t like to think of all the fresh flowers that get wasted :( I’ve been to HI a few times and it’s definitely a Hollywood expectation as you mentioned. Hopefully next time they’ll be offering the service again though:)
@@juanitajones6900 Hi! I believe he was given a leis at the airport then I remember he also purchased a leis. I don’t think he was expecting that there wouldn’t be a “flow” of leis nor “need” to purchase one because he felt like he was missing out. He wore that first one past its prime probably waiting to get a new/fresh one. Have a beautiful day!
Getting leis every where you go is a movie thing, lol. Would be nice to get one at your hotel though especially at a resort of this caliber. I just think your expectations were a bit high 😁
Fresh leis cost money, probably more than you realize. Disney is cost cutting everywhere, this isn’t surprising. A single strand orchid lei at a nearby flower shop goes for $13-18. Why *would* Hawaiian businesses be handing them out left and right? They’re expensive. 🌺
@@bsr6823 look at it this way, Covid damaged a lot of business and we still haven’t fully recovered pre-pandemic. Disney had to make budge cuts in some way to revive all the money they lost in 2020. Seeing as an Orchid Lei goes for usually around $14, and aulani expects typically thousands of guests inside their resort at all times, think about the millions of dollars that Disney spends on fresh Leis, at least 5-10 million annually spent for orchid flower leis. Let them catch up and don’t be insensitive to say something was this way pre-Covid.
@@Gio-fn4bf You do realise that this is DISNEY not a small mom and pop operation. Also the place NEXT DOOR is handing them out correct? Sorry not sorry buddy.
I went by myself to that secret beach some years ago. Saw many turtles there. I drew a cross in the sand with my daughter's name at the foot of the cross. A very special place and moment for me.
From someone who has been snorkeling since, he's 7, it can be petrifying at first. With a full mask and snorkel, it's best to really learn in the pool. That's what I did and then made my way to the shallow ocean and then to the open ocean of the Caribbean reefs. Mahalo!
As a resident, leis are typically given for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, etc. special occasions mostly. When you see a lei on a statue, for instance Stitch, it’s more of like a memorial of sorts. So please do not remove them. A lot of what is seen on television and movies is not reality of what Hawaii is like. All of it is expensive as we have to have everything shipped in from the mainland. Enjoy your time!
The only leis i got was at check in when i visited aulani. That was the first day only. Not sure where everyone else is saying they got extra leis. On the big island, only the nice resorts (Marriott waikola) gave us shell leis (which i prefer cause they last). This was 2016.
I think the lei expectation is mostly from the movies. The time I went I arranged them from a company that greeted us at the airport with them but it definitely wasn’t free. All in all it looks like a great vacation!
I am confused. Thought you got a lei greeting upon arrival from one of the subscribers. That was super awesome and a beautiful welcome. As for sleeping by the elevator shaft, perhaps they had rooms further away from elevators. Considering the first room was also beside the elevators, and you didn't indicate it to be a problem, the resort likely thought it was fine. Be sure to indicate that to hotels in the future. Most properties would like to accommodate. Some actually like the white noise or the convenience of being close to access, just like people's preference for a lower or higher floor, if cost is not a concern. Sounds as if the staff have been super helpful and friendly throughout. Hope you have had a great flight back. Congrats on 149K!
The biggest disappointment is the crowd in Aulani, especially trying to get a chair at the pool. When I was there prior to Covid they did pass out leis. Not the flowers, but the kukui nut necklace, the black ones. The food has gotten better especially with the premium price. Thanks for showing us the secret beach. I will have to check it out.
If you two are flying on hawaii airline, it should be a over night flight and going first class are the best way to go. (You can also see the hawaii airline lounge with your first class ticket to the east coast) hope you two can come back to Hawaii soon, so much to see and do here 🤙
You were several coves past Secret Beach. You were actually at Makaiwa Beach. Next time you go to Oahu, definitely rent a car! The food on the rest of the island is so much better and cheaper!!
Hello Kyle. Thank you for sharing your vlog! The canoe ride looked awesome! I am sure you guys had a great time! The water looked great too! Glad you had time to go in the water, the salt water is always good. The dinner at the bar looked quite good too. You are an adventurous man, you tried sushi too. The sunset was amazing and the full moon priceless! Thank you for the wonderful videos and all your great comments while filming. Stay safe and have fun! Cheers.
Absolutely loved seeing the authenticity of you getting nervous and then deciding to go for it and jump in the water anyways. Life exists for us to experience it and I’m loving the honesty that you show. You’ve got a new subscriber☺️
A room near the stairs or an elevator will always have loud noise in the hallway. Travel with a couple of sound spas to use when sleeping. You could have also requested a different room. You could have eliminated your other disappointment by resesrching a little about the leis at Aulani and their Covid policy.
Welcome Home Kyle 😎Enjoy your early mornings, completely understand the fear of the ocean, had to hit a lot of beaches to overcome. Great job ! Thanks for sharing
Aloooooooooha! 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽 Sorry about not receiving a lei upon arrival. Receiving a lei is magical but I hope you felt the magic called ALOHA. 🌺 This pandemic has halted so many of our traditions but we will never stop sharing the love with each other. So please come back soon. Hopefully you’ll be adorned with tons of lei. 🏝🌈🤙🏽
Going to Hawaii is like being a dream that you never want to wake up from. Add Disney in the mix as a single guy & next visit will be with someone special(no offense JoJo). Nothing wrong with the expectations of wanting a Lei from Aulani, it’s the little things that make it more heartwarming. Even though it was pricey in Hawaii, you made memories that you take with you😁📸❤️ safe travels & enjoy 1st class, y’all deserve it 🥰
Dude, you're like Hawaii 5-0 in that canoe, that was cool. How fast was it moving? I didn't think you'd be snorkeling in the wilds, holy cow, but man the water is so clear - glad you went in, it was so worth it!! I could have that sunset time lapse on a loop - thanks for that - paradise! BTW, that is a great spot to sit by the beach & yes, I'm a maple syrup crazed person, it goes on everything!! What an adventure.
Good morning! Loving all of your Hawaiian adventures! That canoe adventure looked amazing. So proud of you for conquering your fear! The water in Hawaii is unlike anything else. It’s so BEAUTIFUL! Also that sunset was incredible!
These vlogs are amazing! That moon was the last of three Sturgeon Moons of the year and you're super lucky to have been in Hawaii to have experienced it!! I get the relaxed vibe myself just watching these!
Proud of you man. One thing my mom told me when she took me snorkeling. The ocean is beautiful but learn to respect it because she is scary and dangerous if you don’t pay attention of what you doing.
The breakfast you had look so good snorkeling not for me but I’m happy you Were enjoying yourself that’s all that matters and that you brought us along with your adventure thank you Kyle for all you do for us you’re amazing and now that your home I hope you have a good rest.
I can't imagine being lucky enough to do Disney Aulani but maybe one day. I'm excited to experience it through you and JoJo. Your coverage of all they have to offer is incredible.
Yes, a chill day at Aulani is the best! Enjoying the pool and beach and all that they have to offer. Yes, agree with you. Was disappointed no leis. We hired a private company to present at airport, which was very expensive. Would recommend to just wait until arrival, there are kiosks in airport, or ABC store for better option.
The canoe on the ocean seeing turtles and dolphins is worth the cost!🐬. Sushi with a fork....no shame in that game! Beautiful vlog and nice way to end it with a sunset❤
I always love seeing someone overcome their fear of the ocean! it's my happy place & I'll get burned & pruney & dehydrated and be sooooo happy. Can't wait to get to Noumea & go snorkelling

The ranch is where they have filmed Jurassic Park and lotta other movies and TV commercials and the drive out to the ranch is unbelievable. It’s a must do for your next trip out there buddy. Get comfortable with snorkeling before you try and film it. Snorkeling does have a learning curve. I think you would enjoy it a lot more once your comfortable in the open water
I think you had unrealistic expectations. I've been to Hawaii twice (not Aulani but Pre-Covid) and Lais were not given out unless you were doing something "extra touristy"

Good job on going in the ocean with your mask! You got great underwater footage! Those rip currents around the islands are no joke, so being cautious is being smart. 😉
That sunset was amazing!! It was brave of you to face your fears at the secret beach. I would have been terrified! But I’ve never been to an ocean before. I’ve been loving the Hawaii vlogs!
Hey 👋🏻 Kyle. Here’s the thumbs up 👍🏻 for this Vlog. I agree with you on the lei situation. I was Leid when I was there in 1998. And In 2018, nobody leid me. I think it’s a pre expected thing in our minds about Hawaii. The sailing canoe seems cool but I think it’s kinda pricey. But I guess if you’re on vacation, you’ve gotta experience things you normally don’t do in your everyday life. I’m so glad you conquered your fears of snorkeling. I also am afraid of going out snorkeling cuz I’m not a very good swimmer. So kudos to you. Yeah, the food seems crazy expensive there. I’m not a drinker so I got to save on that part. Congratulations 🎉 on reaching 148K!! I hope you reach 150K subscribers soon. These vlogs are rocking and you totally deserve it because you’re such a hard worker. Thank you for all you do for our entertainment!! See you tomorrow, Same Kyle Time, Same Kyle Channel!
The meals look amazing. Well done going into the ocean. You’ve had an amazing holiday. Thanks for sharing it. I feel like I was on holiday with you. Safe travels back home.
Kyle, you do not have to enjoy getting in the Ocean. It's okay. Not everyone loves the Ocean. I think maybe when going to a very different land and culture, you may want to do some research and dispel so many myths before your trips. Remember that the US education system creates a short hand of cliches and generalizations in place of knowledge in order to perpetuate our oppressive colonial agenda. Our relationship with Hawaii is very complex. As is everywhere in the world. I hope that as you think about Europe and Japan and other places to visit, that you will take the time and care to learn a little first so that you do not go expecting cliches like leis, pineapple everywhere, etc. And then you won't feel let down by them being very different places than you've been taught by the disinformation of US media. This is not a criticism of you. We are raised this way, on purpose. The whole world knows it but us. But hopefully you are old enough and successful enough to be more aware to the impact we carry when we waltz into new places and cultures. We seem very privileged and entitled to locals when we have not even take the care to learn a little something about them first. That is why travel is so important. And I hope that you keep exploring. You do great videos. And travel has many cringe moments for all of us, because it is the best way to learn the disconnect between what we're told all our lives, and the reality of other places, and even our impact on them. But when we are part of the US empire, we have to be sensitive that we have a history and an impact in every place around the planet. We need to be very humble, and watch and listen very closely to locals. They may smile and be polite. But sometimes that is not a good thing when we come with all kinds of entitlement and expectations and they realize it and just smile and nod because we don't seem to be listening for their authentic voice.
Yess especially a place like Hawaii!! Love Kyle and Jojo’s vlogs both. Saw that Jojo went to Waikiki and it would’ve been amazing to see Kyle go with him! 😭
Being in paradise is always great and relaxing. It is so nice to be there. I like being there in Waikiki Beach area and yes, time change can be a little crazy dealing with getting up or sleeping a little longer. Thank you for sharing your trip.
We just got home from Waikiki Friday and I was disappointed no Leis anywhere, when I went 20 years ago you did get them. I also ordered them just so my boys got them
Enjoying your adventure. The shower was a little much 😆 the resort looks beautiful but the food seems so expensive! We hope to get there one day but I see we need to save up some extra money for all the extras. Enjoy the rest of the trip.
With all that Hawaii has to offer and your biggest disappointment was that they didn’t put flowers around your neck? That’s being shallow. Do you realize that some people living in the US have never even seen the ocean and you are disappointed about not getting flowers?
Good on you Kyle for facing your fear getting in the ocean!! Choosing rice with breakfast was a good move…more traditional (Traditional Hawaiian breakfast has rice instead of potatoes 😉). I have only made it over to Hawaii a couple of times, first time was for work…leading product training at BYUH. I also thought on my first trip that I’d be presented with lei’s on arrival to various places. The team I was training at BYUH presented me with a lei on my fourth afternoon…as they also give me tickets to the Polynesian Cultural Center (run by BYUH). The PCC is pricey, but is defintiely something to see if you love learning about other cultures. It was great seeing the InstaGram posts of you and JoJo in that first class cabin!! It is definietly a great experience (similar to international business class…have had the privilege of experiencing a few times on work trips).
In the olden days, passengers got leis when they landed in Honolulu (when flight were few). Now with planes are arriving from all over USA and Asia, think of how many flowers would be needed daily to make thousand of leis each day. Men usually wear the bead lei.
Loved the video! As someone born and raised on Oahu, I actually enjoyed how he drew attention to the leis. I know it's different for everyone but even though I live here, I love receiving and giving leis. My family and friends grow the flowers and make leis to give out all the time. I wish Disney could support small local flower/lei businesses and take lei giving as an opportunity to educate tourists about the rich Hawaiian culture and how to respect and care for the land and natural resources.
I wish I could attach pictures to my comments. When we were in Maui last year (April 2021), we took a Submarine Tour (yes, Atlantis Submarines are Hawaii-based) and that was A-W-E-S-O-M-E because we are both claustrophobic. It was just amazing and we saw sharks, lots of fish, but no whales, as they leave Hawaii by mid-March and head back to Alaska. When you are on vacation, sometimes, you just have to forget the costs because you just know Hawaii is very expensive and Disney is even more expensive than other resorts. Have fun and worry about the cost later!
40 years ago, every passenger disembarking from the airplane got a free flower lei. This is probably an airline expense. For obvious reasons, it’s no longer free. Passengers have to order the flower lei greeting or it’s part of a tour package (example AAA tour packages often offer lei greetings). Today, complementary leis are shell or nut because they’re really cheap. You get free ones at hotels timeshare presentations or luaus. There could be other opportunities to get free ones. I bought a lot of shell and nut leis at Hawaii swap meets at the Aloha Stadium.
Idk how recent is this videos. But if you are into seafood Lahiki in four seasons and local fine dining is Roy’s right just the walk path in koolina . Love watching your videos. It helps us a lot during our multiple trip In WDW. Enjoy your time in the island .
Proud of you for conquering your fear and going into the ocean to snorkel. I was stationed in Hawaii with the Navy, No one gave me a lei either. I did buy Plumeria at the airport to grow at home

Hope you and Jojo had a wonderful flight ✈️ back home! Can’t wait to to see all the differences in first class!! Thanks so much taking us all along KP 🥰💝💜💕😘
Beautiful day out in Hawaii
149k now. That’s fantastic. Keep up the great work.
Good job on going in the ocean with your mask! You got great underwater footage! Those rip currents around the islands are no joke, so being cautious is being smart. 😉
Glad you grew a pair to conquer your ocean fears. 👍
Wow good job getting in the water at the secret beach! Your video shows lots more sea life and cool stuff under the water there! 💕
This is literally the 808 stereotype of the main land Haole.
Conquering your fears Kyle! We ❤️ it!
The meals look amazing. Well done going into the ocean. You’ve had an amazing holiday. Thanks for sharing it. I feel like I was on holiday with you. Safe travels back home.
The thumbnail looks amazing great job 👍
Proud of you Kyle! The ocean is gorgeous glad you conquered your fears! Fun fact the Moon creates the Oceans high and low tide.
Loving watching you and Jo Jo living your best life! Yay you for conquering a fear!!
Hi good morning Kyle! Today is my daughter Sarina’s birthday, can you wish her a Happy 10th Birthday?
Loving the adventure, as for the eggs, I will sometimes dip the eggs in syrup if they are on the same plate as my pancakes or waffles.
Well said. 👍🏼
Great post.
Yess especially a place like Hawaii!! Love Kyle and Jojo’s vlogs both. Saw that Jojo went to Waikiki and it would’ve been amazing to see Kyle go with him! 😭
What are you blathering about? Our oppressive colonial agenda? Smooth brain.
Being in paradise is always great and relaxing. It is so nice to be there. I like being there in Waikiki Beach area and yes, time change can be a little crazy dealing with getting up or sleeping a little longer. Thank you for sharing your trip.
Yay way to go Kyle getting out of your comfort zone and conquering your fears! :)
Take a shot every time the word lei is mentioned
proud of you for going in the water bro, for the content!
Loving this Hawaii vlog series. Thanks Kyle!
Congrats on tackling your fear of the ocean & diving into the snorkeling, good for you mr kyle ! Im happy for you!
congrats on breaking that fear😀
In the olden days, passengers got leis when they landed in Honolulu (when flight were few). Now with planes are arriving from all over USA and Asia, think of how many flowers would be needed daily to make thousand of leis each day. Men usually wear the bead lei.
These vlogs are great! Make me want to go!!
Why did you only use the goggles and not the snorkel?
Hanauma Bay was a great snorkeling spot in Oahu.
Yes! Syrup on scrambled eggs is the 💣😍
Loved this video Kyle! Thank you for sharing!
Way to step out of your comfort zone Kyle! Love the Hawaii vlogs! 💜
Just look up "Hawaii graduation" and you'll see the lei giving is INSANE here! It's awesome!
I wish I could attach pictures to my comments. When we were in Maui last year (April 2021), we took a Submarine Tour (yes, Atlantis Submarines are Hawaii-based) and that was
A-W-E-S-O-M-E because we are both claustrophobic.
Nothing compares then a sunset in Hawaii.
Proud of you for conquering your fear and going into the ocean to snorkel. I was stationed in Hawaii with the Navy, No one gave me a lei either. I did buy Plumeria at the airport to grow at home
