How is this much better than doing lateral jumps 30cm+ side-to-side?

Add ankle weights while jumping.
Regarding stress on ankle and knees, better to find out on dry land if that’s a problem than to be on a black run after a jump. There are exercises & stretches that strengthen those joints.
