I almost burst into tears at the first few words but watching the video and knowing first hand how production can, over time, suck the life out of what you used to love it’s totally understandable. I’m excited to see where your journey takes you. Best wishes
Thank you so much 💕 It wasn't meant to be a sad video, big changes and exciting but not sad 😊 I can see the benefits already and can't wait to get creative without the pressure. Thank you so much for following along with my journey, I hope it continues to help and inspire xxx
I actually just started following you. A watercolour artist I follow, Lois Davidson, recommended you. After watching just one video I thought, what a force she is. You have created something so unique and beautiful. As we travel along on lifes journey we must grow and change and always make decisions that will lead to personal happiness. Making changes can be scary but wonderful. You were brave and creative to make such a wonderful business. And now you are off on another adventure. Well done!!! I can't wait to see what is next for you. Cheers.
Thank you so much and what a lovely comment to get 💕 I was a bit apprehensive putting this out there as I've always had a product based business. But like you said, we much change and grow and these changes were definitely needed for me. I so appreciate your support and I'm so glad you are here 😊 Thanks again x
Exciting times Dee, and well done to you for choosing what is best for YOU! I am really looking forward to seeing what direction your creative journey takes you in, and am glad this isn't goodbye as I really enjoy your channel. I love your art style and am sooo looking forward to the journey unfolding!🖌🎨
Thank you so much Lois! It's a big change but a welcome one and one that I can already see the benefits of 😊 Thank you for following my journey and here's to an art filled year ahead! 💕
Good one. I can totally relate to your thought process. Creativity is itself a goal. And can be the ONLY goal!!! ❤ Having to wear so many hats is just exhausting.
Hi Dee, I feel a huge sigh of relief for you as you describe your choice to shift from the helter skelter of running a business to being simply a creator. In our lives we reach these transition points, and they can make such a difference. I am wishing for you more time with your family and more time to enjoy the time and the freedom to just create and play. It sounds like a really good choice. Enjoy!!! I look forward to seeing what you create in future.
Awww, Dee! I am so sorry to hear you are stopping selling your products - but I totally understand. You mention issues that I am struggling with myself. Here's to a better, brighter future and I'll look forward to seeing where your new path takes you.
Thank you, it's a tough one to juggle but I knew the time had come to make some changes. Thank you for your continued support and understanding 💕 Here's to a creative year ahead 😊
I'm absolutely gutted seeing this. I went to you shop for paper to find you closed. I'm so sorry to see you go, but I. Happy your doing it for you and your family x
Congrats on this big and exciting decision! I can totally understand this pivot in your business, I've been super impressed with how hard you've worked in getting the products out. I look forward to seeing what you will do next. I think it would be very interesting to keep seeing your art process, collections and business tactics. Best of luck!
Good call. It doesn’t take much imagination to understand the amount of work involved in what you were doing or how the production side of things took the place of the creative side of what you do.
Looking forward to seeing where your next adventure takes you. Brava for recognizing your need for change and for implementing your new vision for your creativity!
Delighted for you. Transitions can be difficult.. But just as many creatures outgrow their shells or skin, or a chicken her egg, we sense the constraint and yearn to escape and grow All the best on this next leg of your creative journey
I admire this so much. I am at a pivotal moment in my journey and REALLY don’t want to go too far down the product road. Just a little but not too much. I also recently made difficult choices about social media but I think they are wise and watched your video on that.
I have going back and forth for a few years with this very thought process, but I’m yet to take the plunge! Excited for you as you change your business and get a chance to be creative more consistently 💛
You are inspiring with your changes and choices. Not forcing a path just to keep things going, but rather realizing what doesn't bring you joy now, and what does. I look forward to your upcoming video on studio changes and what you are thinking of. I am a hobby crafter, but the principles you share are so inspiring.
I so understand why your are doing this. And you are the only person who can make that decision for you, so well done. We all need to move forward and changes make life intersting. Good luck!!
I found your channel very recently, I understand fully how you feel about nitty gritty business "stuff". The creation fades away, the dollar sign ascends , it's horrible face haunts your dreams. One brave young lass you are, I applaud your strength and thank you for your inspiration.
As an artist and small business owner I know where you are coming from and also the struggle good luck and please do not leave youtube I love your videos
Dee, a sad video for sure. But.. I totally understand how you feel, I have been doing pet portraits as commissions, and while the end result is very rewarding the time strain and stress of having to make sure everything is perfect sometimes takes away some of the enjoyment of the artwork. I have now decided to just paint what I want to paint without any of these constraints and if anybody likes the artwork they can buy it or a print. I am not reliant on this financially like yourself as I work a part time job and hoping to retire soon. I do wish you all the very best as you go down your new pathway and I will be waiting to see your next video. You will be ok. JB
Thank you so much Janet and I can totally understand how commission work would be so difficult. It's the main reason I've never gone down that road. I'm so pleased you also made the decision to be creative for you and I wish you all the very best and happiness going forward too. See you in the next video! 💕
Such a courageous decision. I can relate to feeling conflicted about contributing to consumerism and pivoting when something is no longer bringing me joy. Wishing you all the best. I look forward to seeing where your creativity takes you! ❤
A really brave decision to follow what your heart is telling you. It sounds like a very well thought out decision and I look forward to following along with what’s to come :)
I too have only recently followed you here on YT. I'm glad you are choosing to continue with the occasional video, I find you to be honest, down-to-earth, and definitely informative. As a 'new' artist, I find it overwhelming to try to learn all the ins and outs of the business side of art, so I can only imagine how exhausting it must be to be the creative, the sales manager, the social media spokesman, the production manager and whatever other 'hats' you wear and roles you play. Congratulations on putting you and your family first in order to reorient to what feeds your soul!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Lynn, I appreciate your understanding of the situation. You're so right about all the 'hats' that a small business owner must wear. And althought I really enjoyed learning all the different roles, it's definitely time to just choose the creative one 😊 Best of luck to you on your journey too and happy creating! 💕
Look at the knowledge and experience you’ve gained. That will not go to waste. Total respect you have built a business long term on the likes of ETSY. You are in control. Onwards…
I found your channel not too long ago and I have so been enjoying your thoughts and wisdom. I'm so glad you're not giving up your RUclips channel and I am so excited to see what creative adventures your will be going on next. I so love your honesty and sincerity it is so refreshing. You have been so inspiring to me thank you so much.
"Warehouse manager" - perfectly articulated! My business model is selling original watercolors and giclees through my website and Etsy. We're about to launch a new, robust shop site that will hopefully bring 80% of my sales. I like making the prints myself and having full control of quality, engaging with customers. My hesitation to add products is exactly what you're talking about - becoming a warehouse manager. At what point do I have to give up my painting time because I have to print 100 cards or make 50 mugs for wholesale? You've given me a lot to think about. Thank you! 😊
Dee this sounds like the best decision for you, although I will be sad to see your products go, I totally understand what you are saying. It’s hard to balance creativity with productivity when you get busy, I’m making some changes to my business too, I do mostly commissions at the moment. Wishing you lots of luck with this change and I really hope that brings you what you want in your heart. Now I must snap up some products before they all go 💜🦋🍄x
I love watching your videos and was in shock when I saw your email, your videos amaze and encourage me to do my artwork. I have just received my order from you which is beautiful. have two daughters twins who are wanting to do a business with me for artworks, prints, and merchandise. I know how hard you work, I am a farm manager and have difficulty finding time to do my artwork which I love doing, but I totally understand what you are doing. I hope to see more of your videos as I always eagerly look out for them. You show us just how beautiful Scotland is, My husband and I are coming up the Scotland in June for a holiday, I have not been for over 20yrs. I think you are amazing and only hope that we can be as creative as you yourself have been. Take care of yourself, you deserve so much xx
Thank you, what a lovely comment! I'm so pleased my videos have been inspiring for you 💕 I'll definitely be doing more so please do keep an eye out for them 😊 Good luck with your own creative endeavours and I wish you great success with it too 💖
I wish you the best of luck with everything and truly believe you've made the right choice...not just for yourself, but for all the people in your life. Artistic talent is a gift that needs to be nurtured and shared. I look forward to seeing what you do next! 🦋💜💐
Wishing you all the best on your new path. Curious now as to what that may be! 🤔😊 Completely understand how the ‘business’ side can often be a complete contrast to the creative. New year, new start! 🥳
Heartfelt message, whilst i have only just fallen upon your channel I wanted to say admire your work and can fully understand your decision to continue as an artist (and time with family) rather than live your working life inside a warehouse. All the very best in your next exciting chapter and wishing you continued success xxxx ⭐️
This sounds like a wise choice! I have deliberately kept my etsy shop simple: only flat paper goods, and I don't make anything myself, this makes shipping and everything a lot easier. I really understand how your shop has become too much for you, we want to create after all!
I recently started following you and you told something about Instagram. that felt so right to me and I understood my own feelings about this better. I would like to continue to follow my own path and not what is expected. You really follow your own path and I find that beautiful and inspiring. I have only just started to go public with my art and would like to learn more about the whole process. How do I find clear information such as VAT, how much for which country, etc. I wish you good luck with your new path and definitely keep following!
Thank you so much and thank you also for your business questions. I'm not an expert in this but will definitely consider this topic for an upcoming video. Thanks again and best of luck on your own creative journey!
Congratulations i bet you feel really good about the new way forward. I am not a big seller, sell bits and bobs like coasters and mugs but the making process putting the inages on to coasters using heat press machines...and then package to post i hate it
This is a new season for you! ❤ Please enjoy this new season of life. What a hard-working woman you are. You are such an inspiring woman, and you will continue to be. Your journey will be beautiful. Enjoy! May God bless you! 🙏🏽❤
I love your brand, I can only imagen how draining it has been for you so far, running a successful and very busy business. I always love your art, how you paint nature shows how much further you can go on your creative journey, your attention to detail shows in your art. Enjoy every minute! really looking forward to be seeing your future videos. 💕
Hi Dee. I am so excited to see where you are going with your business! I am just starting out in mine and am creating a pack to put in creative market and design cuts and will also be creating other products with these also. I was going to go on the route of physical products however it would just take all of my time, like you say! I am a homeschool mum and so not a lot of time to actually create. I used to do portrait commissions which also sucked the life out of me as they took so long and did not make re-occurring revenue. I will also be looking to teach at local community centres as I really need the face to face connection. This will not be for a couple of years yet but if something comes sooner who knows. I am really looking forward to seeing where you go on your journey. I am in the uk and there are so many creatives from the United States but not many in the uk. Take care and good luck on your new venture. 🙏🏼🥰
Hi Dee, I hope you can focus on licensing your beautiful artworks. Maybe you are planning editorial work for nature magazines? I wish you all the best for your future projects. ❤ I would like to make my own To Do lists inspired by your lovely ones. Can you please recommend me a printer or supplier? Many thanks 😊 Karina x
I totally understand where you are coming from. While there is a joy from seeing your work out in the real world on products, I don't like shipping, packing, being a production line, etc. I want to focus on more passive streams of income myself, especially as I get older. I'm hoping to get into licensing and surface pattern design down the road. I'm currently in a corporate job but having my own successful brand is the dream. Best wishes to you in the future. I hope you find the right work/life balance that brings you joy and time for your creativity.
New sub 💕 not sure how I found you but that was a touching video & I want to stick around because just yesterday decided I wanted to go down the path of creating & selling on Etsy.
Thank you so much for being here! If you ever have any business questions then please let me know as I'm happy to answer them in future videos if it will help 😊
As a new subscriber to your channel, I was a bit taken aback with the title of the video. I had a "what the heck?", "just my luck", "typical", woe is me moment, but after watching, I wish you all the best on your new path and may the journey be everything and more than you wish for. Good luck and I look forward to seeing your future creativity!
On one hand I'm so sad and then on the other hand I am happy for you. Weird to say. You are such a creative person I can totally understand wanting to get back to being free to create without pressure from the business side . You deserve to have a life outside of work. It's been a true delight buying your products and getting to know you . I wish you the very best Dee. Life is short, so find joy where you can. Sending you a big hug. 🤗😘❤️❤️
Thank you so much Diane 💕 It's been a big decision to make and there have been lots of changes, but it's all for the best 😊 I've already felt the benefits of the change. I've still got lots of background things to tie up and I've been doing this at a slower pace. But I'm excited to get to my creative side soon and I'll definitely be sharing it with you 💖 Thank you so much for sticking around and for all your amazing support over the years 💞 Here's to new adventures xxx
This is the first video I saw from you, so I unfortunately don’t know your whole journey, but looking at your etsy store and youtube channel, it’s amazing what you have accomplished. I started my own etsy shop a few weeks ago and yours is honestly an inspiration. I was thinking about producing my own stuff, but I decided to go with print on demand. It’s more expensive per product and the product range is much smaller, but doing everything myself is not an option for me right now, financially, time- and space-wise. It’s still a lot of work selling your art, but not to deal with shipping alone is a big relief. There are also services that solely do the warehousing and shipping part for you, if I ever sell enough products to justify the cost I‘ll definitely try it. Maybe it’s also an option for you if you ever decide to sell your products again. :) Anyway, I wish you the best of luck for your future plans.
To be honest, I was wondering how you have time and energy to do all that printing and packing and posting all by yourself... No doubt this was the best decision for you. It's time to chill a bit. Wishing you good luck as you embark on this new exciting journey. 😊
@@thebutterflytoadstool Oh and by chilling I ment that now you have time to concenrate on your beautiful art and let your creativity flourish. ☺🌷🌼 Can't wait to see what comes next! ❤
I have started my business half a year ago and it's been really hard to gain more customers. How do you continue to keep sales high as a beginner etsy shop owner? I love making art but i've been dwindling down on creating as well, since I now have a full time contract job. I hope to create more work after my contract is done. My plan is to create art half a year ahead of time so that I won't be too far behind on posting new products. I do love creating products but I also want to draw more.
I suggest not relying fully on just Etsy. If you are able to attend in person markets and selling events with your products then I highly recommend doing so. I've made a video on 5 different ways to sell your products. I'll link the video here for you: ruclips.net/video/ZYejRBDC5v0/видео.html Hope this helps and good luck!
As much as this is a wee bit disappointing for all of us, you have to do what is right for you. I had to do the same or similar with what I had been doing before (hence coming back to art). You just know when it’s time to stop. Have every faith that you have done the right thing.
I have only just found you and I am SO Very impressed with your artwork. It is Beautiful & inspired! But I am also so sorry that Insta and other business requirements have led, at some level, to the closing of your business. But in that you are young, super-talented, and resourceful, I know you will come back in a new creative venture that will fill you with happiness. I look forward to seeing your new journey. Very best wishes.
Hi Dee, is there some way of getting a message to you privately? Email or something? I’m a bit shy about putting my question so publicly on here. Debs x x
I almost burst into tears at the first few words but watching the video and knowing first hand how production can, over time, suck the life out of what you used to love it’s totally understandable. I’m excited to see where your journey takes you. Best wishes

Delighted for you. Transitions can be difficult..
But just as many creatures outgrow their shells or skin, or a chicken her egg, we sense the constraint and yearn to escape and grow
All the best on this next leg of your creative journey
Thanks 😊
I admire this so much. I am at a pivotal moment in my journey and REALLY don’t want to go too far down the product road. Just a little but not too much. I also recently made difficult choices about social media but I think they are wise and watched your video on that.
Very Very understandable. Enjoy, love your family and live your life to fullest. Thank you!
Thank you 💖
I have going back and forth for a few years with this very thought process, but I’m yet to take the plunge! Excited for you as you change your business and get a chance to be creative more consistently 💛
Thank you and best of luck with your future decisions too. Do what's best for you 💕
Best of luck with the changes you are making to your business, and hope you will soon have more time to spend on your artwork.

Such a courageous decision. I can relate to feeling conflicted about contributing to consumerism and pivoting when something is no longer bringing me joy. Wishing you all the best. I look forward to seeing where your creativity takes you! ❤
Thank you, yes this was a huge decider for me. You're right, you have to do what brings you joy 💕 Best of luck to you going forward too! x
What a lovely video Debbie. You NEED to do what suits you and family life. Love n hugs ...A x See you soon xx
Thanks Ashley, see you soon 💕
Wishing you all the very best in all you do! Love your videos and I look forward to seeing what you do in the future.
Thank you 😊
A really brave decision to follow what your heart is telling you. It sounds like a very well thought out decision and I look forward to following along with what’s to come :)
Thank you so much! 🍄
I too have only recently followed you here on YT. I'm glad you are choosing to continue with the occasional video, I find you to be honest, down-to-earth, and definitely informative.
Thank you so much, that's so kind 😊
Wishing you all the best on your new path. Curious now as to what that may be! 🤔😊 Completely understand how the ‘business’ side can often be a complete contrast to the creative. New year, new start! 🥳
Yes! Thank you! 💕
Just found (second video) more power to your choice. It's awesome you can change!
Thank you!
Eloquently put and here's to a creative future which ever path you take...
Thank you so much Magghi, for everything 💕
Heartfelt message, whilst i have only just fallen upon your channel I wanted to say admire your work and can fully understand your decision to continue as an artist (and time with family) rather than live your working life inside a warehouse. All the very best in your next exciting chapter and wishing you continued success xxxx ⭐️
Thank you so much, what a lovely comment 💕
This sounds like a wise choice! I have deliberately kept my etsy shop simple: only flat paper goods, and I don't make anything myself, this makes shipping and everything a lot easier. I really understand how your shop has become too much for you, we want to create after all!
It's the right time for some changes, and exciting times at that 😊
I recently started following you and you told something about Instagram. that felt so right to me and I understood my own feelings about this better.
Thank you so much 💖
@@thebutterflytoadstool You are so very welcome! ❤️😊
I love your brand, I can only imagen how draining it has been for you so far, running a successful and very busy business. I always love your art, how you paint nature shows how much further you can go on your creative journey, your attention to detail shows in your art. Enjoy every minute! really looking forward to be seeing your future videos. 💕
Thank you so much for this lovely comment and for your understanding 💕 I'm so excited for the creativity to come 😊
Best of luck to you 💚
Thank you!
Hello, I only just discovered your channel after recommendation by Lois Davidson. Looking forward to seeing where your beautiful art takes you next!
Thank you so much for being here! I'm looking forward to sharing pressure-free art 😊
Thank you so much and best of luck to you in your future ventures too 💕 Life is an interesting path, take all the opportunities it shows you 😊
Hi Dee, I hope you can focus on licensing your beautiful artworks.
Thank you and best of luck to you for your future endeavours too 😊
Best of luck with your future endeavours Dee (-: Marion 🎉
Thanks Marion! 💕
@@thebutterflytoadstool ok awesome I will! Best of luck to you ! 💕
Thank you so much for being here and for sticking with me through these changes! 💕
Thank you, best of luck to you going forward 💕
Sounds like a nightmare to be hones. I couldn't do it.
It's been amazing and I'm really grateful, it's just time for change now 😊
To be honest, I was wondering how you have time and energy to do all that printing and packing and posting all by yourself... No doubt this was the best decision for you. It's time to chill a bit. Wishing you good luck as you embark on this new exciting journey. 😊
Thank you!
@@thebutterflytoadstool Thank you!
As much as this is a wee bit disappointing for all of us, you have to do what is right for you. I had to do the same or similar with what I had been doing before (hence coming back to art). You just know when it’s time to stop. Have every faith that you have done the right thing.
Thank you and yes you're right, you know when the time has come 💖
I have only just found you and I am SO Very impressed with your artwork.
❤❤❤
Hi Dee, is there some way of getting a message to you privately? Email or something? I’m a bit shy about putting my question so publicly on here. Debs x x
