When my local club did a testing day a few weeks back, I tried both these drivers. All my clubs are Taylormade and I was biased as I approached the tee. After hitting the Mavrik, it changed my mind. Being able to test both clubs at the same time is essential. The Mavrik felt like I was hitting with butter. Such a soft feel. Loved it
Would’ve been interesting to see 6 swings with Mark’s own G410 Plus driver to compare to these new models James. I know it’s fitted to him, and the SIM & Mavrik weren’t, but would still like to see how it compared. Cheers
Mark, James I think that sound wise they both had a great sounding ( crack ) with the Mavrik being just a tad louder ( crack ), to my ears either or both had the sound I like.
Because of the weather, I've been getting an extremely comprehensive fitting that's taken over 2 months. Going into the last session it's still between the SIM, TS2, and ST200. The SIM is ugly as hell and sounds like I'm hitting a cardboard wall, but the feel of the face and numbers just don't lie. An absolute ridiculously great club.
Mid/high handicap went for a driver fitting and compared multiple drivers , shafts , set ups. mavrik was by far the best for me, James really appreciate the videos and content, I watch daily and comment usually on every video, my only complaint is it does seem like you favour Taylormade a bit, nothing wrong with that but it does sometimes feel a slight bias. Anyway . Blast away... regardless of my opinion I really enjoy your content. Thanks
Neither of these two for me wanted to game one of these but didn't get on with any of them when i tried them. Distance and direction was at best average so ended up trying ping g410 plus and cobra speedzone. Really found my best friend with the cobra speedzone what a driver at a bargain price and i couldn't believe the results it gave me. Came away with solid distance dispersion was iron like and arrow straight with my cobra sz 9* with atmos blue 6r shaft. Even put the 3 wood in the bag too cobra rocks for me
Great vid as always james and Mark! I can't wait to see his results improve as he gets the spin down! Will use be videoing his lessons at all? Cheers guys
Awesome video gents. I am a mid handicapper and I have a lot of spin so this review is perfect for me. I am gonna try both. and since I'm in so cal I can play in 70-80 degree weather.. :)
I've never been a big Taylormade fan, but the consistency of shots with the SIM Max would get my vote. Mark commented that the SIM felt heavier...that might be a good thing. Mark might try one of their other shaft offerings like the Evenflow Riptide CB. The counter balance might give him the feel of the Callaway.
Bought the Mavrik last week and really like it but think I need to do some adjustments to reduce slice that I experienced over the weekend.. But great sound and has a lot of pop to it.
Idk if maybe I missed the video but I’d be interested in a video of you giving mark a lesson. Just like the cameras aren’t there and you two having a lesson
james isn't a good teacher, he has taken marks handicap up! since giving him lessons..when they play together on the course, mark is making so many swing errors, but james never puts him right...James is having lessons himself actually....look at Dan Hendriksen for lessons
Something tells me that the Epic Flash 9 degree with the slide weight on the draw setting would help his accuracy and perhaps reduce some spin, he is using a fade which maybe he would do better to hit a more neutral ball and even kick up to 10 degrees, test that and see JRG..
James, I know I keep on saying this, but it is so difficult to watch Mark hit on the right or center of your screen and the ball start offline to the left dramatically. I have seen you hit balls 3 feet to the right of center and it will start on screen to the left (pull hook). I know you have replied back to me that it is the screen angle, but I have not seen this with any other youtube club reviews. Great review though no matter what. Enjoyed it!
@@mattsmith-bl2bg Not my point at all. Its what us viewers and possible the golfer hitting into the screen is seeing. Take a second and look at the shots into the screen and then watch where the ball actually starts showing. It's just weird to me. Way late to this vid. But a thought on why hes saying the mavrik feels easier/faster/nicer to swing. After also hitting them both side by side. The sim had a longer profile heel to toe and shorter sole to crown. While the mavrik is shorter heel to toe and taller sole to crown. Not neccessarily in the face but the head as a whole. I found the longer profile of the sim almost makes it feel like swinging a shovel. While it's not slower it's just a feel that takes a little getting used to if ur familiar with other brands
