One of the reasons we dutch like the discounts is because our economy has kind of created the need for them. If possible people rather shop in Germany, because the normal prices in the Netherlands are on average higher, so with a discount they become more reasonable. There are a lot of dutchies that don't have that much money, everything becomes more expensieve each year but the wages don't rise nearly as much.

I thought the same. You ending your video's with "Show ... all the love in the world", "Love you to the moon and back." That's a lot of love to plenty of people you don't personally know.
I see what you mean. That being said, my subscribers and the RUclips community saved my life. They picked me up at a time in my life when I didn’t even have enough money for food. Phenomenal real-life friendships have been formed and the kind words and comments have been beyond healing. I feel the love daily and it means the world to me. All I’m doing is reflecting it back where it is deserved.
Giving unasked opinions about everything is often called honesty in the Netherlands. Remarks like: “oh I like the shirt you were wearing yesterday way more then this one” is an example😂 doesn’t add anything, but sharing these opinions is very important to the Dutch
This is a really cool video! And indeed; last evening i heard some others talking in English with a Dutch young guy and i was curious where she came from. Suddenly they spoke about the weather and then i asked them something about it and then i could ask where they came from and it was that 1 of the 2 girls was half Mexican and half Dutch and the other one from Colombia if i heard it correct. Really cool to speak English all around the world🙏❤️
I've also been told that I'm too direct with my opinion sometimes. If I see something from someone I know and I don't like it, I will call it out. But I also found it's certain types of people who can't cope with that and say I'm being mean. The situation that I'm thinking about was 2 guys learning to become drum majors. They posted videos of their progress of Facebook and after saying to them: You're doing good, but here's what you can still improve on. They both attacked me telling I'm always being negative about things they do. According to them I shouldn't point out things about something I didn't take lessons fo myself, but I have plenty of "experience" looking at other people doing what they do. To me that feels like almost the same thing as not being allowed to say a girl is pretty, just because I'm gay. Just because I'm not actively into the subject, doesn't mean I'm not allowed to share my opinion or even facts that I just happen to know.
@@johanv4668 I was talking about being truthful in my replies to questions. Not sure how your reply relates to my post. But I respect the right of free speech, even if it does not make sense to me. I do wonder if that insta like on your comment is yours though 😜
Nothing nicer than a sandwich with cheese or grilled cheese sandwich If a Dutch person find someone being direct it is just a nice way of saying that person is rude. Personally i think a little lie so you don't hurt someone's feeling is ok. For example, when someone ask what 8 think of there clothes, and i find them ugly, i will just say, on you they look pretty but it is not my taste
Say what you mean and mean what you say, that's typically Dutch. Although here in the south people are more inclined to sugarcoat negative opinions. Good bread with good butter and good cheese is the best there is! And then sometimes we put some other good things on top like pickled and fresh vegetables and salads, all kinds of sausages, eggs and sliced meat. Personally I can eat hot meals all day. But maybe I'm a bit influenced being half Hungarian; give me lecsó with burgonyás kenyér 6 times a day and I'll be happy ... yes, Hungarians tend to eat 6 times a day. Peanut butter with hagelslag? I've never had that, seen or heard about it. I eat my peanut butter sandwich with sambal (or the stronger Hungarian variant Erõs Pista) or course sugar. If you end up or jump in a canal in Amsterdam, you can't get out; the canal walls are too high. Every year 10 to 20 (drunken) tourists drown in the canals in Amsterdam. The Dutch are not cheap, we're just carefull with our money. The Dutch are among the biggest donators to charities in the world. Love your video comments!
Of course it was true. In 1491 the farmers of "Kennemerland" (the region north of Haarlem) revolted. It was called the uprising of the cheese and breadfolk. And with all uprisings in history of the Netherlands, it started because of higher taxes.
@ It's not like we complain more about the weather then other "species" (lol), it is just because we're all simple people, introverts by nature ("be normal..or doe maar normaal..") and feeling uncomfortable small talking to other people, so we start moaning, complaining (thinking others feel comfortable with this sort of negative conversation. Well, I'm flippin' not haha), in this case about the weather. This way you're not rude to other people by saying nothing at all. The Brits small talk about 22*C warm weather would go like this: "Nice weather isn't it?"(For Brits to them 22*C is like "bloody hot" lol) Same weather, but from Dutchy pov: "Pffff, Heet hé, ze voorspellen dat het VOLGENDE WEEK bloedheet wordt!" e.g.: "Pfffff, hot isn't it? They predict scorching heat NEXT WEEK!" (See what I did there?? So instead of enjoying the warm weather we're giving the other person a bad feeling (unintended), not just for one day, but for a whole flipp'n week!! Because, you know, you think it's hot today, well wait till next week!! haha. And guess what? Weather prediction was wrong, again. No heatwave, but rain. So they start complaining about the rain, because they were expecting warm weather and bought a new, expensive bikini..on clearance..with 60% discount. Some of The Dutch in "een notendop" in a nutshell. 😉😂😉 Cheers Paul🍻🍺🍻
I live in the Netherlands and love it take bread and butter and cheese and be proud off your self from which country you are from but always be honest ❤❤❤❤
I don't eat bread and cheese for lunch. Cheese has become way too expensive for that. Thank you Kaagflation! Also, being on time for an appointment? Not in the south of the country. Add 15 minutes at minimum for Brabant and Limburg basically exists in its own separate timezone.

About I got it in the sale. That is not quite so, because it was first, let say 50 Euro. And then they put up the price with 40 percent, and then they sell it for 50 Euro in the sale. Ha ha I got it in the sale. Think about that. Roelof from the Netherlands.
@09:00 Warm food for lunch Nothing wrong with it. But the kindof food you eat hot often has a tendency to make you drowsy. Which isn't great if you need to work another 4 hours. :)
Typical Dutch supermarket promotion you've been waiting for for a long time (example): All UNOX brand soup varieties in a bag - get 3 pay for just 1. I went to that shop 3 times in a row and at the end of the day I had a stash at home of about 100 bags (serves 2) of soup in about 5 different varieties. That will last me until the next big promotion, maybe on horsehoe shaped hearty sausages. It's true. But then there are moments when you go and spend that saved money. Maybe go a bit overboard with hundreds of euros worth of fireworks and wine or seasonal beers, or go to the Efteling Theme park resort 6 days instead of just 1. ;-) You save to spend, we just do it alot more extreme than just about everyone else, I suppose. Oh, and while I may go ape for supermarkt promotions, I rarely pass what I think is a true beggar/"traveler" I may encounter on the street without giving something to him or her. Because everyone can one day find him- or herself in such a position, so do give something of what you just saved on stuff.
Dutch are direct but i see it like this telling the truth is better than going around it to please someone. Why would you hide your feelings when you can tell it someone can help u. Why being is saving money a bad thing? We like spending but we like to have some savings as wel for unseen consequences

Yes, when I moved to Mexico I missed complaining about the weather. It's always sunny and there's no reason to complain about that. Being on time is a thing. It's very offending to think you've the right to waste somebody else's time. Moving to Mexico I had to adapt bit to the latin attitude. I started to give men 10 minutes and women 15 minutes of margin, but, on the other hand, I've never been late for an appointment.

15:49 these are upperclass people..and they do have one thing wrong... the average wage might be somewhat high, but ionsurances are mandatory and expensive, rent, mortgage, car insurance, petrol prices, everything is high priced and gets hiher every year, but worker class wages don't rise with the same amount, so one wants every penny/Euro well spent and worth it, another Dutch saying wise mothers use alot.. "You can only spend your money once"
Don't change a thing Highly. @HighlyCombustibleReacts
Giving unasked opinions about everything is often called honesty in the Netherlands. Remarks like: “oh I like the shirt you were wearing yesterday way more then this one” is an example😂 doesn’t add anything, but sharing these opinions is very important to the Dutch
We don't 'do fake' very well, we rather be transparent.
The fact that you like my land
Is nice i like it here too😂
This is a really cool video! Really cool to speak English all around the world🙏❤️
The Dutch bark themselves to spare a dog. Oh, and they cry with one eye to save tears.
We eat warm water from a red bowl, to make it look like tomato-soup, and copperwire was invented when 2 Dutch persons were fighting for a cent.
@@somedutchguy9184hahahaha, nice 👍
When you are coming to the south of the netherlands.....the sandwich is different...much more on it....because in the south they love food..
facts over feelings
When the Dutch are direct and one thinks it is rude. . They should Let there soul callus over.
We don't want dinner twice a day, lol. Good bread and cheese is sooooo good! I don't want steak as lunch, yuk.
I like how you like the dutch 😂
If we were so stingy, our economy wouldn't be thriving the way it is. We're just the right amount of stingy. 😉
Thanks for another good one brother. 😊🌷
If people ask me a question, they get my answer. If people don’t want to hear my true answer, than don’t ask me a question. Just sayin’.
if a dutch guy tell you dont like, it is your problem....
it is true some times people from holland are very direct, and don't care.
@@johanv4668 I was talking about being truthful in my replies to questions. Not sure how your reply relates to my post. But I respect the right of free speech, even if it does not make sense to me. I do wonder if that insta like on your comment is yours though 😜
@@RickFromTheNetherlands
sorry
i made a nuance, my replay was not intended that way.
I was reacting on your statement, what is very true.
Its human to go for the discounts, not typical Dutch.
True, we didn't invent Black Friday, that is on you Americans
In my local coffee shop I see mostly Dutch people. And the odd expat or tourist of course, but most are Dutch.
Dutch people are transparent❤
Nothing nicer than a sandwich with cheese or grilled cheese sandwich
If a Dutch person find someone being direct it is just a nice way of saying that person is rude.
😉😂😉 Cheers Paul🍻🍺🍻
bread and cheese is of no use, you won't grow anymore!!😂😂😂
I live in the Netherlands and love it take bread and butter and cheese and be proud off your self from which country you are from but always be honest ❤❤❤❤
Beef, butter, bacon and eggs once or twice a day until full = Superfood.
And if you were to do this, I believe you turn out to become a stereotypical American, weight wise.
I don't eat bread and cheese for lunch. Cheese has become way too expensive for that. Thank you Kaagflation! Also, being on time for an appointment? Not in the south of the country. Add 15 minutes at minimum for Brabant and Limburg basically exists in its own separate timezone.
@@fvefve12She was the minister of finance, inflation gets caused by the government printing money. Increasing the money supply is the literal definition of inflation. Ergo, Kaagflatie. But that is not her fault you say? It's the ECB doing that? She's one of the bosses of the ECB so that it makes it her fault still.
Only if I lunch in a restaurant 😂
I am dutch, but I definitely never ever eat a cheese sandwich and if I did absolutely no butter 😂😂😂😂
About I got it in the sale. That is not quite so, because it was first, let say 50 Euro. And then they put up the price with 40 percent, and then they sell it for 50 Euro in the sale. Ha ha I got it in the sale. Think about that. Roelof from the Netherlands.
@09:00 Warm food for lunch
Nothing wrong with it.
Love this video
I've always said it the only people not liking the directness of Dutch people are Dutch people
Is this in the netherlands? They speak so good english.
Proud to be dutch😅
Yes we are good in english

If you must eat warm twice a day, you can roast your chees sandwich
Mt Dutch directness got me into a YT fight with that Knoxhill reactor when he asked our opinion and I gave it he didn't like it at all and was really insulted to my surprise
There's nothing wrong with a steak lunch, but then you have bread for dinner. I like warm meals, so I don't, but it's a rule most of my family lives by, because "you can't have two warm meals in a day"
About a visit with or without an appointment, I think that is age dependant. Older people don't make such a fuzz about it.
well I just hate to run around the damn bush .. I say everything direct and honest
If you jump in the canal, you can easily stumble on an old bike and really hurt yourself. Chivalry is not dead but just jump into a canal ?! 😅😅 I don’t know about that.
If you want directness, visit Rotterdam, Den Haag or in the North (Friesland).
Or Twente 🙂
@@Dutchology that's true, sorry i forgot ☺️
My reaction got deleted VERY quick! :o I only said that I need to check out Discord again.
10:34 it is dangerous to jump in the canal, you don't know if there is something under the water, a bike for example.
So I don’t think you have tried Dutch bread or cheese ☺️ Multiple variaties in bread ànd cheese, just jummy 🤪
11:37 or say we are from Holland, when actually from Groningen for example.. Netherlands/Nederland!... Not Holland
