I like that you put the definition of lightning rod in this video. Many people think its just a cheesy line from the CW show but its actually a big concept in the comics. Speedsters rely on lightning rods to keep their identities no matter how far they time travel and helps them find their way back home if they get trapped in the speed force. Poor Bart never got that connection and needed up trapped for a long time. Valerie Perez might've been the closest he had but their relationship was too complicated.
I hope the show goes deeper into Iris' connection to the speed force as well. Though she never becomes a speedster in the comics, her relationship with Barry gives her the SF which protects her and keeps her young looking like Barry.

Iris didn't make the speed force, she conducts it due to her connection to Barry. Also she was already his lightning rod since season 1. Hugging her was what jumpstarted his powers in the first episode.

What about the first time they see each other after he gets out of the coma? He shows no signs of the speed force until after they embrace and he has Iris touch his is heart to prove it was still beating.
