Hey guys, this is my honest long term review of 2020 Suzuki RMZ 250. I had this bike for a long time, put around 40h on motocross track and got pretty good feel for this dirt bike. I wanted to share my feedback and let you know what I think about the bike. Check it out and let me know your thoughts. cheers!

End of last year I picked up a 2018 RMZ450 leftover at a great price and was able to change suspension, pegs, levers grips and pipe still cheaper then buy a 2020. Best thing ever and I love the bike!!

I just bought a 2012 rmz250 for like 3 grand and I gotta say thank you for all the content. It's my first dirtbike and all of your maintenance videos have really helped me. I wouldn't have known oil and filter change intervals unless I saw your content!

Good video. I bought a used 2009 250 4 stroke and besides some wear and tear damage that I fixed myself it looks and runs good! Still starts with 1 kick from cold after 11 years and it used to be used for racing by the original owner!

I’ve a 18 rmz250.. for a guy, reliving my youth only just on the good side of 50, this is a great bike. Too many knit-picking, overall, keep it serviced and do the proper maintenance, you’ll enjoy these bikes for many many years to come.

I don't know why but whenever I think of a new bike it is never a Suzuki..........then I ride one and all my misgivings disappear. The doggone bikes just work for me......they turn, they are solid enough in the rough stuff, the power is agreeable, and I can ride one all day without exhausting myself. Seems like this always happens......from now on I'm gonna start with the Zook instead of finally coming around to it. All in all, a comfortable and predictable bike for an old geezer like me. Here is Kansas it has been raining a bunch.....may have to trade bike for an Ark and start putting in animals, 2 by 2........ Nice traction for a change!
definitely great bikes. I wish it would rain here as well, we have hot summer over 90 every day and super dry. Not much fun on the trails, thats why I spend most of the time on the track, they water and prep the track..

I hated on suzuki for years and than in 2017 I was looking to buy my first new bike but they all started at $8400.00 before taxes Canadian for a 250 except suzuki, so i swallowed my pride and found a rmz250 for $6400.00!!!! and after taxes it was just under $7300.00!!! I was happy with the price but still unsure of the bike. my first ride on it was the best time i have ever had on a bike! so now i can't shut up about how wrong i was about this great handling bike!

So why do people change the suspension ? Ill be doing like trail riding and sand and a little bit of street thats all. Not even doing crazy stuff just enjoying the bike.. will i be okay with stock suspension? Id rather put the money towards exhaust and tune..(2022 rmz250)

Back to basics, I like it. I also want to get better at motocross and have been thinking of buying a basic 250 to start out the right way. Suzuki's have been getting a lot of hate in shootout videos but they are still a great option, even if they don't have all the modern bells and whistles.

I just picked up a 2019 rmz250 yesterday with 10 hours on it for 3700 ,thing looks brand new !! I plan on riding track an trails once suspension is dialed in which shouldn’t take much since I’m 230 lbs so stiff suspension should work out A ok !
Couldn't agree more with your assessment at 4:30 , I have a '15 rmz250 with a vortex / fmf (stock engine) and its an amazing upgrade. Pulls a bigger guy like me anywhere and over whatever i want.

I have the same year I love what sprocket setup would you recommend front and back new to modify bikes never used to touch them but now I’m old enough and I can pay for parts myself it would be much appreciated any other mods you recommend

I bought the 2018 a while ago.
Love the bike. (changed for my yamaha)
Changed the renthal for a twinwall. (just personal preference)
And bought an other rear shock,, couldnt get the Showa BFRC right.
Now on Reiger suspension and pro circuit lower linkage 🤙 Lovely bike. enough power to have a beautifull day at the track.

Owned three open class smokers & kept my KX500. 1993 bought klx650r, did the carb mods B4 riding& did same with WR400F. So as a 54 yr old with not much to prove anymore. I got want good cornering&brakes. I’m 6’ &233lb. So the suspension is rite for me. I rarely ride my woods yz smoker anymore. Because my 19 is so fun

Thanks for you awesome videos. They are very interesting and informative. I have been riding for a year now. I have a CRF 230 f which has been a great starter bike. However, I am looking to upgrade to a RMZ 250 or 450. I am not sure. Do you think the 450cc will be too much of an upgrade and just go for the a RMZ 250?
definitely not 450, too much bike.. I think you will be happy on rmz250
Get you also some scratches on the swingarm from the chain that hits that swingarm
I ride a crf250r. I'm 6'3 and 230 lbs. I'm a big guy but I'm also a beginner. The 250 has enough power for me and I think if I had a 450 I would be more focused on keeping the bike under controll than paying attention to my form, technique, and improving as a rider.

Great info as always Rado. I am about to go get a 2019 RMZ250, only 5 hours on it. I mostly ride trail with the occasional trip to the track. Would you say that this would be good on the trails? i am 6' and 230lbs. I have heard that the suspension would be good for a guy my weight since it is pretty stiff out of the box. Thank you again and thank you MORE for helping me get my 2019 WR450 dialed in with the ECU/CCU info. I am much better on it now but think a bike with less power is what i need.
Dave, i am not sure if this bike would be good for trails, it’s possible but it wasnt made for that. Suspension in my opinion will feel stiff out of the box, it is set for jumps and higher speed bumps on the track, i think it need to be dialed for trails in order to get best out of it. Can you test ride it on the trails before you commit?

How would you rate this as far as a beginners bike? How snappy is the throttle response? Tried a KX250F and can’t say I enjoyed it. Low key scared the shit outta me... waaaay to snappy, unpredictable power for me... a beginner. Is the RMZ250 pretty predictable or super snappy?

it is very predictable, I think you would like the smooth power in stock form, not very snappy- whiskey throttle wont get you in a big trouble

What a lot of people don't understand is that all 250 MX bikes are insanely hopped up beasts and the shootouts are not the end all be all of the class. There are a ton of newer riders that are a little heavier and the Suzuki caters perfectly to them. As long as you are on a bike, it is a good day!

Ask Suzuki for a leftover 17-20 RMX450Z. I got a brand new 2017 from Ride Now Tucson for $5600 OTD for my 66th birthday in March, after 7 years withouta dirt bike. I know it's a bit heavy, and more of a trailbike than a racer. But you have to put things in perspective. I was only going to trail ride. It made 25hp on the dyno stock. After uncorked the airbox and the muffler it made 36hp, but was super lean and the ran super hot. I considered a JD or Vortex tuner ($240-$280), but I watched a RUclips video showing how to adjust the FI mixture with a multimeter and a screwdriver. The FI circuit pulls 26 mA at Idle and 38 mA at 7500. I ended up at 34 mA at idle and 41 mA at 7500. With a Yosh slip-on it makes 44 HP @8,800 rpm with buttery smooth gobs of torque everywhere. Runs great from 900 feet to 6500. It weighs 20lbs less than my first dirt bike, a 1972 Yamaha 250 Enduro at 272lbs but the Yamaha made 21hp to go with its 5" front and 3.2" rear suspension travel.
It would make a great project for your channel. Plus there are leftover 17-20 RMX450Zs everywhere for 30-40% or more off their original sticker price.
My last Suzuki was a 1996 RMX250.
A 2022 tpi RMX300 could save this desperate company.

@@dirtniron Raddo, thanks I love your channel, and am especially glad that you featured the YZ125X. In my 60s now, I feel fit and excited to be out in the Desert and Mountains here in Arizona. But the RMX450Z is a load on my knees after a long day. My next might be a 125 or 250F bike because with the lightweight it would be less strain on the knees.

I've got the same bike. A 2018 RMX450z. Love it. I ride in the east where it is tight. Put a 12t on the front and a 51 on the rear. Put in a Rekluse and the bike is great. Goes up anything.

if you need to ride trails and the track then I would probably go for 250x or 250fx yamaha .. straight track this rmz250 has all you need for a vet guy

I’m confused about all the underpowered confusion you guys realize rmz has some of the best low - midrange torque? Aka 90% of you riding ..🤦 people . It’s more important your bike pull strong in its constant range not how many hp resurrect at 11k rpm that’s only helping yoh when your engine is screaming mate . Rmz best torque and hp 5-8k rpm. That’s some of the most vital ranges in racing or accelerating

I really like your channel but the direction it's seems to be going is quite different from when you started kind of disappointing the whole motocross thing is repetitive and most people that ride dirt bikes don't even have access to a track I hope you get back to riding more trail oriented content as it has so much more to offer and experience.

Fast and powerful enough for the casual rider. But trying to justify buying a Suzuki over a Yamaha, Honda or Kawasaki isn't possible.

@@dirtniron depends on what you mean by savings I guess. Initial cost sure. But overall Suzuki has a bit of a history of unreliability
@@dirtniron I will say though. Susuki has the bike down to a science in terms of comfort. Even if it falls flat a bit its sure not a bad ride at all.
