For the con on the first one of the tear from skipping under docs. This is a tip that I have learned from other bass fisherman like Roland Martin. They all bring superglue with them on their boats. I would think a dab of superglue would fix that problem when the tear separation happens. It would be worth a shot.
@@Saltstrong also check my other comment about the farm raised shrimp deal... because over there they were fining guys for using farms raised shrimp..they also hammered some other tackle shops... I post my video link sharing that info.
100% agree with all of this. I've been using them for a little over a year now and the Sheepies love them. Plus, these are the most durable plastics I've ever used. At least as tough as Zman stuff. I've got one with at least 20 sheeps caught on it and it still looks great. The biggest problem I've has is that it's really easy to snag them.
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment. Yes, the snag problem is another con... but they at least don't have treble hooks like some of the other crab lures.
Love seeing how excited Otis gets. He knows when you've hooked one! Hilarious. Have you tried any other crab lures for sheeps head? Specifically the Almost Alive fiddler crab? They're about $10 for 8. No hook no weight though.
@@Funboy870 I know. They're not as easy as Chasebaits but they're considerably less expensive. I've caught a few fish with them rigged with a 1/0 circle hook and a split shot. Also same hook and a slip bobber. I really like how good they look and there durability is excellent. My problem is, I have a limited amount of time I get to fishing them.
@@RH-qk5lt I've rigged them on a split shot as well but haven't had time to fish it long enough to catch anything. But I'll give it another try. Thanks for the reply 👍
Haven’t seen crusty crabs but will definitely look for them I did pick up a 5 pack of just 1 inch blue crabs bodies by Savage gear and you can use a jig , single hook, Carolina style , but I think a single hook like your doing is best it looks natural I’m going to try them soon I’m anxious to see how they work , I paid $4.99 for a pack of five crabs and they look just like real they are sented , tight lines guys !
Great advice for an apparently great crab bait. How much does the Crusty Crab weigh? What spinning rod and line were you using to cast it so effectively?
For the issue with the weak point where everything attaches. Could you apply a little bit of thin UV resin and seal it on there to strengthen that spot, basically adding another layer or two or material to buffer against the skipping issue. I am gonna buy some of these for an upcoming trip to try out and I think that might resolve or at least hold off the issue a little longer.
Do you use any leader with these? Also where would you add any additional weight if you had a bit of current? Just some split shot about 6" above on the line or any better recommendation?

Yes you can do that bro. I would definitely use either a mono or fluorocarbon leader. I wouldn’t use a leader more then 1 ft that way you can feel the bites more.
Yes that gorilla glue is awesome and flexible as well .. I use it for a lot of things especially when doing hollow core braid splicing over mono or even solid braid..

The one on the left is called "Tan", and the one on the right is called "Sandcrab"... both seem to work equally well in clear and moderately clear water.
Have you tested the Cranka crabs against these crab lures from Chasebaits? The Cranka crabs look nice, but I just can't see the reason to pay so much more for the Cranka crab when it has a much higher chance of getting snagged on the structure due to having two sets of treble hooks mounted on the edges (seems like a huge snag risk).
@@SaltstrongI definitely see your point in the price... I will definitely give it a try that's for sure .I can tell you this cranka crabs have foam floating Claws that helps reduce snags.I'm actually going fishing tomorrow wish I had the others to try LOL

Nikko makes some nice crabs. I'd like to see you do a review of them. They have a giant 6" crab that looks really nice and a small 1" version, too.
Pro cure will work on these as well if you want to add some scent.

they work great for sheep!

Will this work fort sheepshead on the beach, fishing from a pier?
Don't see why not
Got some off of Amazon. First use caught a Toadfish a.k.a Mother in law fish. During hook removal the eyelit of the hook snapped off. UGH!!
Thanks!
If it breaks then super glue it back together, that might help 🤷🏻♂️
Very true. It's probably a good idea to actually put glue on it before using to help prevent tears.
I wonder if you can use these crabs on a dropshot?
I’m sure you could but you’d basically give up the action they have scuttling on the bottom
I was thinking the same thing with a dropshot for heavy current areas with some procure
Maybe you could add a small amount of super glue to the weak spot to harden it prior to skipping 🤷🏼♂️
