    i thought it was a bit ironic in the original FPs trailer they used the old trader Joel voice which was actually a good choice, the new trader Joel voice sounds like a used car salesman and hence in your remake, no trader Joel voice used, another good choice 👍👍

    • @BunnehGaming
      @BunnehGaming  3 месяца назад

      If I'm being entirely honest, I wasn't even fully aware of the voice-change yet, as I started making this video pretty much as soon as 1.0 was available to play. I'm only now starting to come across all of the different vocal lines and changes they've made like this, so chalk up Joel's omission as complete luck lol

    Hands down probably one of the best trailers I've seen. I couldn't tell if the zoom in on the bone knife was a reference to the bone knife only challenge lol. It's nice to see the face again, keep up the great content man!

    • @BunnehGaming
      @BunnehGaming  3 месяца назад +2

      Thanks a lot man :) To answer your suspicions, yes the Bone Knife was a reference to my recent video. Fun Fact: that Bone Knife isn't ACTUALLY stuck in the ground because there's no way to do that in game. I had to pull off the animation and quickly switch to my fists for the first part, then I composited in a Bone Knife in editing. The PNG file for the Bone Knife is too small and too low quality, so I had to take an image of one in-game and completely edit it to remove my character's hand from around the shaft of it :)

    As an editor I feel your version missed the mark. It felt like it was more about the song than the game and the super slow build up would've made me click off thinking it's yet another boring survival game. This is assuming the intended audience are those that haven't yet heard of 7days. It's the billboard effect -- you have a few seconds to at least grab them enough to want more and a naked dude staring at a fat dead zombie doesn't cut it. There is nothing wrong with a quick initial ramp-up, then slowing down the temp to tell your story but, again, you leaned on the tempo of the music and that is where I feel you errored. Hope that doesn't come across harsh, I think it is solid work but the initial misguidance of leaning on the music led you down a path I wouldn't have went down. All the best!!

    • @BunnehGaming
      @BunnehGaming  3 месяца назад +2

      I appreciate the constructive criticism! I don't disagree with you in regards to a grabbing viewer's attention necessarily, I suppose that I just view 7D2D in particular a bit different than other games, and a slow build-up was more effective in conveying what the world offers. That's what makes editing so much fun and unique though - taking different views/approaches to a project.

    Their trailer was nice but yours was Awesome!!! That’s because you based your trailer on real progression of the game and the ending with the music…straight Masterpiece. Oh yeah I almost forgot that was dope how you did the shotgun blast to the music. The timing was perfect.

    • @BunnehGaming
      @BunnehGaming  3 месяца назад

      Thank you so much :) Most of the clips in the video are actually based on the timing of the song, just like that shotgun blast. If you watch closely, even arrow impacts and gunfire muzzle flashes line up with a lot of the beats in the song (as best as I could, anyways)

      And you're absolutely right, a ton of effort went into this - that armor and weapons section alone took a long time and a lot of planning. If you pay close attention to the "MISSIONS" text in the trailer, you'll notice that the glass actually covers up half of the letters too so that it appears inside the building when I'm breaching the door; I think little details like that really sell the 3D feel of it all.

      @@BunnehGaming I need to watch it again soon and try to spot all those details. Your presentation is really on another level and I wish this was the trailer presented to me. Such trailer can really make a dent. I lost the mood playing it with A20 but your trailer would have made me playing it again. Not saying their trailer was bad but compared to yours, it's just ordinary.
      Also the music you chose was perfect to me. Sure there are tons of songs and some might fit better or hit different but for me it did fit just perfect.

    Your video is pretty good, but I don't think it wins out over the original. Yours could also use a bit of polish in a few places.
    TFP opted to do a collage of shorts instead of doing a story, because sadly, the game doesn't have a story, yet. I am certain they went that route becasue if they advertise the game as a 'make your own story' game, then it will lead to some confusion now and later.
    TFP video is fine even if it is somewhat unoriginal. It highlights the 'stuff' they want to emphasize and ignores the 'stuff' they would prefer to not touch on.

    No, your trailer was ok, but the proposed music was a huge turn off! If TFP used that music, I would 100% not want to play this game. Everyone else is using crappy zoomer hip hop. It's trash, and not representative of the mood, setting, or feel of the game world at all?! TFP's new one was better than yours, simply because the music was generic, it wasn't actively stabbing my ears. The old Live Action was much better than both, because it set the tone! Subdued music, simple story telling, evocative look/sounds. The live action trailer was perfectly atmospheric of survival, crafting, and horror. Which is what the game is about. Sure, they want to show off multiplayer these days as it goes for console sales, but more than 70% of people playing are regularly playing single player.

    I like the video, but you break your own rules in it. You talk about one of the reasons you hate the official trailer, is that the go from advanced weapon, down to primitive, and back up again.
    In your trailer, you do a good job of showing the character as a newbie, naked using primitive tools/weapons. You show using a stone spear, but also using a wooden bow, not showing the primitive bow even once. YOu do that several times throughout the whole thing. The most glaring example of this, is around 8:40 in your video. Your character is in a full biker outfit, was just shown using a pump shotgun, and a steel sledgehammer, then you go into a cut showing you loading a pipe machine gun? Pipe machine guns can be made withing the first 5-20 minutes of a game. By the time you have crafted (or looted) a full set of biker gear, have a pump shotgun and a steel sledge, you are telling me your best fire for effect weapon is a pipe machine gun? That is not the only spot you have progression incongruities, but it is the most glaring one.
    For those who might tell me to get a life, and leave him alone... Remember what I said first. I like the trailer. But you cannot realistically complain about why you do not like something, then do the same thing in your "better" version of it.

    • @BunnehGaming
      @BunnehGaming  3 месяца назад +1

      Your point is fair, but the progression shown throughout is based on the category of weapon, not necessarily the tier. So while I was using a Pump Shotgun, the Pipe Machine gun still wasn't upgraded through my character's progression, so it was the best machine gun option I had at the time. This later gets replaced with the M60 towards the end of the video. I kept it this way as ammo types are different and thus I would be switching to whatever weapon was the best choice at the time.
      For instance, I didn't start with a primitive bow as you suggested, but I didn't downgrade as the video progressed, only upgraded it, as to infer that I was constantly upgrading equipment as I could or as it was offered through mission rewards. This way it feels like a more natural progression one would encounter, as opposed to just getting a full new kit every few seconds of the video.
      I appreciate the constructive criticism and hope you enjoyed the video regardless :)

    • @thegamerdudeabides
      @thegamerdudeabides 3 месяца назад +1

      @@BunnehGaming First, I want to make it very clear, I love your trailer. Well executed, and exactly what would have drawn me in as a new player. If I had to show the game to a new player, someone who had not heard of it before, I would choose yours over the official one.
      From a new player perspective, what you created was a clear flowing progression, one that does tell a story (mostly) of growth with your equipment. So I applaud you for that. I want to emphasize that. It is an amazing video.
      With all that having been said, please take the rest as it is meant, constructive conversation. I watched the video a couple more times, to make sure I could see everything, and pay a more critical attention to specific details.
      Remember, this is coming from someone with 2000k+ hours in the game. So I would obviously notice things a new player hearing about the game the first time will.
      You start off with bone knife, and stone spear, showing us crafting the spear. Bottom of the tech tree, just starting out, excellent. You even show punching trees, which would grab the minecraft crowd or really any survival game that has come out since 7dtd entered early access. Punching full on trees in 7dtd is not a thing though. I mean you can, but a whole tree that would give you ~ 20-50 wood with a stone axe, MIGHT give you 5 with your fist. The very next scene/clip, is you in primitive armor (apropos) wielding an iron pickaxe harvesting a surface rock. Ignoring the tool, this shows early level still, harvesting a resource you need in the most attainable way possible to you at the time. Surface rocks are great when starting out. You jumped an entire tier group (I know you said it was not about tier but catagory), and did not show any other way of gathering in the game. Just the iron pick. No stone axe at this point, which would have been great because you only have 1 tool for everything in the beginning, then you get specialized ones. I get you do not have a lot of time to showcase that theatrically, but that is fine. What you did worked.
      You introduced the wooden bow, which kinda fits at this point, if you get lucky enough to find one in loot, or enough books to be able to craft it. Later, you show a compound bow. This is the only clear case of direct progression you actually show. Everything else gives a sense of progression, because the tier of weapons goes up almost equally for the rest of the video. With the exception of the pipe machine gun I mentioned in my op.
      This is where it starts to fall apart greatly for me. You start base building, with full on electric equipment, mine field, blade traps, turrets, you name it. All while still wearing primitive gear. You can see the cloth wraps on the hand, so we can see you have not upgraded armor at this point, but you have either looted, crafted, or gotten enough dukes to purchase all that extra stuff from a vendor. You have a full garden at this point, with fully planted fields, That alone is a feat that takes considerable effort and luck to have done early. Your gear up to this point tells me you are a day 1-3 character. The base tells me you are getting ready for day 14 or 21 horde.
      Next you introduce the compound bow. Okay. This is the clearest, and easiest spot to point out clear progression. The bow is the only weapon you used 2 different tiers of. Everything shown from the beginning of the video to when the wooden bow was shown is clearly early game. Even the iron pickaxe, more on that later. From the introduction of the bow, to the compound bow, the waters get confusing. The clear progression you built starts to break down. After the compound bow, you are showing us more early mid game stuff. In this period you show 3 weapons: pump shot, pipe machine gun, and shock baton. The pipe machine gun would be the answer if someone asked a "which one of these is not like the other one." You explained that was because at this point you had not found/made anything better, and that was your best option. Okay, I can accept that. The problem was, you had to explain that. It is 100% understandable to me. I cannot even count the number of times i was still using a pipe pistol, and had full t3 gear otherwise. To a new player again, a different story is told. They might not see that part.
      Mostly the gear in your video does follow a clear progression, especially if you know the game. The first part shows you gathering at a surface level for basic resources, and everything you craft can be made in your pocket. With the exception of that iron pickaxe again. Okay, so you could have been adventuring and looting, but you dont show that until much later. Like, after base building later. To make the pickaxe, you require at least 2 crafting tables (workbench and forge). Not exactly a progression break in storytelling, but the situation you panted up to the point of the pick, is surface level gathering with pocket crafting. No quests or looting yet. So where did it come from? At the time you introduce the pipe machine gun, everything you are using requires not only special crafting tables, but special component you cannot make. They have to be found or scrapped from other items. So there is a clear flip flop of progression with those 2 items specifically. The pick belongs in the last 2/3rds of the video, the pipe machine gun belongs in the first 2/3rds of it. Even the introduction of the shock baton and pumped shotty is telling. To make either of those, you would have had to read 10's of books. I think the baton is like 50 of them?
      I left out a lot of the other weapons/armor/situations I saw, because I wanted to save them for last. I realize what I am saying might read as if I am crapping on your video, so the last thing I wanted to say was what I like the most about it. Your clever use of forward-flashes and back-flashes was inspired. Early video you flashed forward to what was happening at the end of the video, and at the end of the video you flash backed to things happening at the beginning. Excellently done. I appreciated this the most.
      Overall I want to impress the fact I LOVED the video. I mean no disrespect or insult from my observances. I am just really enjoying looking at the video analytically, and really appreciate your response to it showing an openness to discussion on it. I hope this meets you with the energy is was meant with.

      @@thegamerdudeabides I gotta say this is the longest and most well thought out comment I've ever received on a video before haha. I legitimately laughed when I opened it, but in a good way. I appreciate all of it man and see where you're coming from. I think the takeaway is: I wanted to show general progression that makes sense without everything being explained to the viewer, one because it doesn't have to be since some things are just implied, and two because a game trailer is ultimately geared towards new players who have (theoretically) never seen the game before.
      For instance, when watching a movie where an actor gets on a train and the next scene shows them at a new destination, one could infer that they made the trip safely on the train. In the same regard, I didn't feel the need to show completing earlier missions, finding every piece of gear that my character ends up wearing, or showing off all of the different crafting stations, because the progression is simply implied throughout. The real outlier is with the traps and electrical stuff as you pointed out, but I felt that where I had placed in the video made the most sense in terms of making a safe haven before building up further defences. The whole video isn't made to take place within a seven day span afterall, just over a time span that is fairly linear and eventually ending on a horde day.
      I appreciate the criticism and clear love of the game though. I open myself up to criticism and negative comments every time I post a video, that's just the nature of the Internet 😆 No worries and hopefully you were entertained for a bit regardless.

      @@BunnehGaming Ohh absolutely. You did make a theatrical trailer after all, not a game concept or proof of demo trailer. Somethings can be expected to be implied. 100% you created a better video than the official one.
      As far as was I entertained? I do not get to be analytical and critical of stuff like this often. Usually people do not react nicely to it. As far as the end result: I did not take the time to comment like this on the official trailer youtube video, I can promise that. I am also still not subscribed to their channel. Something I can no longer say about you after this interaction.
