    If you have oil forcing its way out of the fill tubes and breathers, that is more of an indication that you have excessive crankcase pressure rather than vacuum. Could be the result of excessive blow-by more than anything. This can also explain he smoking if you don't have well sealed oil control rings

    • @kevinworks2145
      @kevinworks2145 Месяц назад +12

      I was thinking the oil return would need to opened up if to much oil is sitting on top.

    • @funkyzero
      @funkyzero Месяц назад +15

      @@kevinworks2145 yea that is also a possibility, but the pressure building up in there is a sign. that is unless the cam cover is actually filling up all the way and overflowing out of the caps. Easy enough to test for, just see if there is pressure building up in there or not. If it's filling up then yes, you could be correct and it's not draining. Restricting the oil supply flow is probably ill advised either way.

    • @dietznutz1

    The oily exhaust might just be a result of the engine running in, and by the time you had the second solution in place it had run in more. Might be interesting te reverse the mod and see if the oily smoke comes back. (Because I don't like the idea of reducing oil pressure to the engine...)

    • @alanhilder1883
      @alanhilder1883 Месяц назад +7

      It wouldn't reduce oil pressure, the opposite will happen, but it will reduce oil volume/flow which is a big problem. Less cooling and lubrication.

    • @stevenbmw850
      @stevenbmw850 Месяц назад +2

      Yeah if the problem actually is too much flow and not a ring issue, the better solution would be to increase drainage instead of reducing flow.

    • @stevenbmw850
      @stevenbmw850 Месяц назад

      Come to think of it, it could be that the flow is too high since it's designed to have a turbo, that would pull a good bit of oil flow from the engine, so with no turbo mounted, it could actually be that it's flooding the head.

    • @defaultname906
      @defaultname906 Месяц назад

    one flaw I see is how the radiator is mounted. usually in vehicles, (and water-cooling setups in computers) you want the radiator, or reservoir to be higher than the block. Its so air bubbles dont congregate inside the engine block they congregate in the top of the radiator, or the reservoir. This may be reducing its cooling area, I cant tell if there is a reservoir inside the metal dash thing, but from where you add the coolant by taking off that fitting it doesn't appear so.

    The cam belt flex is causing a delay in cam timing. Where one side stretches and causes the delay. A thicker belt will tidy that up. But I'm loving this design. And with no lubrication issues it's begging for a turbo small enough to add some scaled boost. Really would like to see dyno results from that configuration.

      Scaling down the engine lowers the rotational mass that keeps the engine running at low RPM. This requires a higher idle to stay running. They use heavy flywheels to help some, but it would take a very large one to drop them to full size idle rpms.
