    I have ASPD, I was diagnosed in the Navy. When I was younger, I was misdiagnosed with ADD for misbehaving but I believe it roots for my father being in and out of my life. Growing up in school isolating myself from people.

    ASPD is one of the most frustratingly misunderstood disorders especially because of the pop-psychology. There becomes such a focus on the drama, or like you mentioned with the DSM-V's approach, focus on the external actions, that discussions on the core of these dysregulations become buried. Thank you for providing such a clear and digestible analysis. Hopefully more attention can come to you soon! :)

    • @Richard-n2w1g
      @Richard-n2w1g 4 месяца назад +2

      I don't think it's misunderstood at all. Long story short, anybody who has ASPD was an angry kid who grew up being an angry adult. Who also didn't see anything wrong with doing bad things.
      It is very much understood that the external actions, regardless of the core of the dysregulation, are still not ok. They know what they're doing is bad. But lack the ability to FEEL bad about doing it. So it just becomes a pattern of behavior that escalates over time. They just do not care about ANYthing but pleasing themselves. That much is derived from the Anti-Social part. The personality disorder is that "just who you are" part. Personality is who you are as a person. Disorder means it negatively impacts your life. Though in this case it isn't a disorder for whoever has it. It's a disorder for everyone else around.
      They wonder why people act and treat them differently. Or always lash back at them. But fail to realize it's their own poor behavior that causes the push back. They've learned that they will continue getting away with their behavior as long as people still justify it. You never have to learn if you've never been taught the lesson.
      So when you do or say something that challenges them, they have to fight to maintain their superiority. Because then they would have no choice but to face the consequences of their actions. They would then have to be held accountable for their poor behavior(s). As long as they maintain their superiority they sit above their responsibilities. Any dips below that by being told what they don't want to hear are snaps back to reality. Cold, hard, scary reality. The reality that they WILL be severely punished

(And believe me it's not like I want to be this way, I'm not exactly a malicious person but I have problems with my emotions and I am very quick to extreme anger and I tend to deflect almost all criticism) This video summed up some of my personality traits so accurately but I think it's good because I feel more educated and self aware and maybe that can help me with improving myself in the future. Thank you for the lesson!

      It absolutely can and I am so proud of you for being willing to recognize and acknowledge your undesirable traits. I always tell people “you gotta put your monsters on a leash” That’s how you become a better person, but you can’t put them on a leash if you refuse to admit that they are there, so you have taken the first step in admitting that there are monsters. You’ve taken a look at them and now you can start putting them on a leash. I’m telling you I used to be a horrible person. I feel like I probably still kind of am but I know that I treat people much better than I used to and I when I recognize those bad thoughts and behaviors coming out I tell myself to put my toys away. I say nope, because I know that, even though I feel justified, it’s going to harm others and that I not entitled to do certain things I feel like doing to others . I’m so proud of you. You stand a chance & the people around you will feel loved by you - you’re not a terrible person .

      It's not necessary to have ASPD if some of the symptoms matches your personality, there are many more criteria for the diagnosis to be made. If you are having any problem, for proper diagnosis you should visit a professional psychologist or psychiatrist. However, very gald that you atleast opened up about this, and tried to know yourself better. Wish you a best!!!

    My son havs gone through a lot. He doesn't have this and I have identified what he mostly has. But honestly, I do not need to put a label to his condition. In mental health, several disorders/conditions overlap symptoms, since they are the same. There's lots of dangerously misdiagnosed people around. Treatments are kind of the same with CBT or DBT, plus medication. Even same medications are used to treat several of those conditions. And have terrible side effects. Each head is a world. So treatment, is supposed to affect each one differently. I do believe more in holistic, natural treatments, with the will power and complete cooperation of the patient and his close support team members. It doesn't provide my son any benefit, to put a label on his heart and soul, that will not change anything positively, but will add more pressure on his self image and strong emotions. Just love, good care, the best support and discipline on his holistic treatment and daily moments of prayer, with God's will.....will do better. ❤

When questioned, he always says "I didn't know" or "I didn't say that". He throws his little tantrums and talks to himself when he's angry. Is it really true that aspd is more often seen in men or women? Or is it that the way it is tested can diagnose male better than female?
    I've seen the same with other disorders, where girls just masked better than boys and therefore it was common knowledge that it affects males more than females... Until a study conducted realized that tests were just not fit for both male and female, tests were not as universal as people thought.
