Biggest tip with Goose Creek is to limit the burn time to 2 hours or less. I’ve found the most success with performance when I adhere to this. Also trim the wicks aggressively if needed!
Thank you for that tip. Yes, I’ve heard that it’s best to keep the burn times short with this brand to avoid a sooty mess. So far I’m not having any issues so 👏🏻👍🏻
I think it's great that you review candles from different companies and are adding a new one! I am relatively new to Goose Creek myself. Picked up some autumnn scents last year and of course some halloween ones. I had really good luck with the ones I ordered. There was 1 that I had to pour off some wax to correct drowning wicks (Pumpkin Pound Cake). I found sooting to be very minimal with some not sooting at all. I burn all candles for 4hrs and didn't have any problems burn wise except that one . The ones I had were all 6.5-10's in strength (black licorice cupcake from the halloween line was crazzzy strong. Too sweet to be that strong for me). If you decide to place an order for autumn I highly recommend Spiked Pumpkin Donut. It's sooo good! 💜
The Caramel Apple Lane is an older scent and label made before they started putting scent notes on the bottom. It wasn’t until after Kent started designing their candles and encouraged them to put the notes on the bottom! 👏 Your banana candle is from one of his collection designs. Key Lime cake pop is one of their better performing candles I still have 2 left. And you are so right it’s hard to find that scent. I so wish BBW would bring back Key Lime Pie! Goose Creek usually burns clean the first half but can really get sooty after that. I have found their colored wax to perform better and be less susceptible to that. Hope you enjoy your new purchases!
Thank you for all of that info! Yes I’ve heard that Kent has really helped them level up their packaging game, which is great for the brand. That’s good to know about second half performance because I’m still in the first half on mine right now. I’ll keep an eye out for soot.
Oh my word! I clicked on this video sooooo fast 😂. Congrats on your first Goose Creek purchase! I enjoy Goose Creek 😊. Can't wait to see your post burn reviews & I'm glad you like the fragrances you purchased 🤗. Key Lime Cake Pop is amazing & was a powerhouse for me in last year's packaging 💚, I have one left in my stash that I'll be burning soon.
I’m conflicted on this Key Lime Cake Pop because it was great on my first burn, but my second burn it smelled totally different. Almost like kerosene?🤔 I moved it outside & will try it again. However, the Marshmallow & Banana ones are burning great!
@@katiesjoyfullife oh no, sorry to hear that. I didn't purchase this year's pour of Key Lime Cake Pop, I have the one from 2023. I hope it improves for you & glad the others are doing good so far 😊.
Goose Creek are my Favorite Candles! Have never had a bad experience with shipping etc. Love Macintosh & Blueberry Cheesecake! There Holiday Candles are Amazing tooo!😊
I started buying Goose Creek candles this year after Kent (The Candle Channel) said he designs some of their labels. His labels are gorgeous (garden collection)! I love many of the scents, but the burn is pretty sooty. I trim the wicks each time and only burn them for about 2 to 2.5 hours or until they fully pool out. They burn pretty clean until after the halfway point, then I get even more watchful of trimming the wicks and shortening the burn time. Occasionally, I put them under my candle lamp near end. Because of the poor burns, I only buy the ones under $10. I received my 4th order a few days ago of 4 candles, and one was totally shattered with glass fragments all over all the candles. They did send me a replacement immediately, which arrived today. I really enjoy your videos and appreciate that you review from many of the candle companies I purchase from.
This is so helpful & thank you also for the sweet compliment. I really wanted to try these out & form my own opinion & I agree that an under $10 price point makes the risk a little more palatable. You’ve been one of many here that have advised me to trim the wicks & keep the burns under 2 hours. I really appreciate that advice. 😊
I absolutely love GC. Keep an open mind and just enjoy the candles. Like others have said, keep the burn time down. I do 3 hours max, and in general , ive been happy with that. And their pricing is just the best. ❤
Hi Katie, I really enjoy Goose Creek candles. Of course, some candles are hit or miss in terms of strength and throw. My favorites are Warm Donut Sugar, Old Time Lemonade, Strawberry Daiquiri, White Christmas Cake, and Carmel Apple Cheesecake. I appreciate that Goose Creek did a rehaul of their candles to show they were listening to their customers. When I first tried them years ago, they were awful, in my opinion, lol. I gave them another try after they advertised their candles were new and improved, and I haven't stopped ordering since then. If they would up the strength a little more, their candles would be top tier.
Thank you for the feedback! I’m actually building another cart with this big sale they have going on & Warm Donut Sugar is in there. I appreciate the suggestions & honesty about your experience with the brand. So far, I’m happy with my purchase 😊
Hello Katie. You are going to love Caramel Apple Lane, it is my favorite candle from goose creek. Goose creek was the second candle company I purchased from. They have so many great gourmand candles.
Girlllll I’m with you!! I have put things in my cart and never purchased from them!! I smelled some in my local walmart and didn’t love some of the scents so I got discouraged.
I love goose creek.... i have been buying from them for about 3 yrs. I mostly buy fall and winter candles as spring and summer just isnt my thing for the most part. I have too many favorites to list them all but hot toddy... carnival pralines...pumpkin pie... blessed day....first day of autumn...spiked pumpkin donuts all come to mind. I hope u enjoy what you have bought and try them out again.
Yay! I was SO hoping Goose Creek was what you were hinting at! I've purchased almost exclusively from Goose Creek for about a year now. My holy grail fragrance is Apricot from the Strawberry Shortcake collection; I've purchased about 6 backups and I still want more, lol. They're what made me fall in love with candles/home fragrance and ultimately lead me to your channel! I really hope you enjoy them! I've definitely had some hit or miss burns, and the comparison to BBW is very apt. So excited to hear what you think!! ❤🦆
I’m glad you picked up on my hints 😉. So far I’m loving my Marshmallows candle the most. It’s a good one. Every brand has their hits & misses, that’s for sure.
Hi Katie! I love GC and glad you are trying them. Don’t know about sooty burns because I lamp them or get their wax melts, but I can tell you Key Lime Cake Pop, Carrot Cake Pop and Espresso Cake Pop are all wonderful scents!!!!😊
I like GC...I bought alot early Spring...I bought because of the labels 😍...I use my candles to decorate with...one candle, Cliffside Sea Spray has a turtle on it...I decorate beach theme for summer 🐢...FYI Walmart carries a select few
Congrats on your first Goose Creek haul :) Hibiscus Fruit Punch from Wal-Mart will be burned this Summer. Yes, you've heard correctly, Wal-Mart does carry a select few and even carried some Christmas scents last year. I've burned a few including their retired two wick apothecary jars of Angel Food Cake and First Autumn Frost for example, both were strong in the bedroom. If you're interested, you can find them online. They have their own versions of Blueberry Cheesecake and Vanilla Bean. Nice haul, good luck with this brand. Dedicated reviews would be nice.
I’m contemplating purchasing a Blueberry Cheesecake just to see how it compares to Homeworx’s version. I’ve heard they’re in some Walmart stores. I rarely venture in store, but I’ll be on the lookout for them if I do. 😊
@@katiesjoyfullife Sounds great, if you do find one, please review it and any other scents that you smell on cold that you think you would like. Thanks :) I do have Blueberry Cheesecake from there and it smells good on cold. I'll most likely try to burn the two wick jars more than the three wick ones first.
Key lime cake pop is really good--so strong! The iced sweet tea candle is really good as well if you like tea scents. My all-time favorite Goose Creek is large jar called Toasty Pumpkin Toddy, but they don't pour those large jars any longer. I burn it sparingly every fall, but I think those large paraffin jars have gone away for good. One year they did cute jars shaped like a pumpkin with a lid that had a little stem on it and I still have one of those. The company has really changed since doing things like that. I guess they found their niche with the collaborations like Little Debbie, Scooby Doo, Strawberry Shortcake and all the novelty stuff. I'll be interested in what you think of the burn on the ones you picked up.
Yes, I agree that the KLCP is quite strong, which is good. I’m not really into the novelty packaging collabs, but there is a niche for everything. I did like the Peter Rabbit candles though. Those looked cute!
Hi Katie, I love GC. They have so many more gourmand options than BBW. I have had some great ones from them, and some duds (just as with any company). I only use a warmer for all candles so I have no experience with the burn. Caramel apple lane is a good one! Hope you enjoy your haul!
Yes i only try to purchase from goosecreek occasionally just prefer bbw rewards and scents more but their sales are great so i just ended up placing a large order for 13 candles 65% off making them a little under $9 each 😅😅
I only buy wax melts from Goose Creek. I've tried their candles multiple times but do not like the way they burn. I have found their Boardwalk Cone is reminiscent of Kringles Jelly Donut. It's not as refined but still similar in scent profile.
I have never bought them either. They remind me too much of BBW with the look. But they are popular, and I hope these go perfectly for you! I do hear they have some great scents!
Yes, I’ve always heard that they’re similar to BBW in terms of packaging & performance. Since I have to buy blindly, that has always been a deterrent for me.
I just made my first GC order during the Memorial Day sale and made my second order yesterday. Unfortunately I don’t burn candles I only lamp or warm them so I can’t comment on burn performance but the fragrances have been great. I would looove to see a review of the key lime cake pops and marshmallow. I’ve gotten them for about nine dollars each including shipping so I hope to find some scents to warm with my more expensive candles.
I’ve only burned the Key Lime Cake Pop once & while it’s good, I think the Homeworx Key Lime Cake smells more authentic. I’m really loving the Marshmallow scent though & it’s performing well too. 😊
Soot, soot, soot, soot, soot! I do think they burn long. But the scents are unrealistic and cheap smelling. I am an avid candle burner and trim all of my wicks. No matter what they soot. I hope you’ll have better luck than I did. I’m a Yankee girl. It’s everything I want in a candle.
I stop buying from Goose Creek when they discontinued their 2 wick large jar candles, about 2 years ago, I just don't burn that many 3 wick candles at all, I did try some of their 3 wicks, they can burn dirty, just don't burn them very long, hope you enjoy them, I am just not a fan of Goose Creek.
I always love hearing honest feedback. Thank you for sharing your experience with them. Because I like to try to keep my collection down, I like finishing up candles rather quickly, but I know not everyone is like that.
@@katiesjoyfullife I hope you enjoy them, I am still burning their 2 wick large jar candles that I have left, I am going to hate it when I don't have anymore to burn. Really enjoy your channel 😀
I'm the same. I started buying the Goose Creek large jars back in 2019, after smelling Brown Sugar Churros at my sister's house. I would regularly buy 8-10 at a time during sales, to hit the $100 free shipping threshold. I loved the paraffin wax large jars. And then they discontinued them. I don't care for their blended wax, and I don't want to pay the same price as I used to for three wicks that are half the size.
I love your content. I listen while I'm working and treat it like a podcast :) I would love to start burning more candles myself. My husband really made me worry about possible negative health side effects of paraffin wax and/or synthetic fragrance chemicals. Do you worry about any of that? Do you think there's any real science to back up any claims like that? Thank you :)
Thank you! I actually have some family members who avoid fragrance like the plague because they believe there are ties to negative health. While I support everyone doing what they feel is right for them, I am of the mindset that modern science can prove anyone’s point if you look hard enough for it. A lot of “natural, organic” companies cite studies that seem to help them sell their product. 😉 While I definitely don’t want soot accumulating in my lungs (hence why I like clean burning candles more than cheaper paraffin blends), I don’t believe fragrance is as bad as it’s made out to be. I hear claims that they’re endocrine disrupters, but I’ve been surrounding myself with it since I was a kid & my recent bloodwork at 39 is “absolutely perfect” according to my NP (who has a more holistic bend herself). We were actually looking for imbalanced hormones & mine are even better than they should be at my age so 🤷🏼♀️
