Because of your videos on this unit, we’ve decided this is the right rig for our family. Thanks for taking time to post the vids and details. Now to find one in stock near me.
I think this was a very fair response video; I think a lot of people comment on here without a lot of thought and probably before they finish the video.
Your comments on TV's made me want to share our experience. Recently took delivery of 240bhle (partially because of your review, thank you) and have successfully towed this TT with our Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve 5.8L (Equalizer 4 point WDH, CAT Scales of 5800lb Trailer, 5700lb TV (with Hitch), tongue 590lbs, Curt BT Brake controller, Haloview BT7 3 cameras. Our initial test run took her out for 70 miles of Highway (55mph-58mph) and City driving in very windy (20-30mph) and rough roads. Cherokee and TT towed/tracked and braked well (one very very hard stop performed flawlessly). I knew it was behind us, but always felt everything was stable and in control. Our next test run will be added an additional 400-500lbs to the TT (our max going forward) with 10% tongue. We have very limited TV payload needs (as in just wife and I) while towing, so those with more passengers while towing this would push available payload. Would it tow better with a 3/4 ton pickup, off course, but for our requirements of owning a single vehicle (and no monster truck for 4-5 trips a year, all with 300 miles) an SUV worked well (6 passenger and cargo space when not towing). Again, I know many will say you should only pull a TT with a truck -- SUV's are a no-no, and I am sure a truck would provide a better towing experience (but at the forementioned cost - 2 vehicles or truck only). But for those with similar requirements, the compromise of giving up the ultimate tow experience for something manageable made since -- and we have a single vehicle that is very easy to park anywhere (including our attached/heated garage with space around) for 95% of our driving. Thanks again for your reviews -- been following you since you took initial delivery of her/him/they/she/them, or whatever gender it is.
Hey, The slab you park the trailers on is getting some wash out of the base rock around the perimeter, it will only get worse and cause the slab to break. The fix is easy and will also eliminate the trip hazard.
Really enjoyed your rendition of PDI. But I can’t stress this enough. Get a highly recommended independent certified third party inspection before signing on the dotted line. Beware: not all inspectors are created equal.
I for one wish you well with this collaboration the trailer looks great. There is a saying that I’ve been working on that I feel could help with some of the more negative comments. “Jealousy clogs the mind of the weak”. My dad taught me growing up when someone makes negative comments about something you’ve bought just shows they are jealous and nothing you say will change their mind. I’m looking forward to more on this topic hope you have a great weekend.
The haters will make you stronger. Lol. My trailer is about that weight. I’m in Washington and the good camping spots are on the other side of the mountain. If I wanted to pack light I would backpack. This is glamping baby. I finally got a reliable 1 ton truck and it revitalized my family’s camping/glamping life. I know my payload and bumper weight are clear and I can pass semis on the pass.
If a manufacturer knows a unit is going to influencer with large base like yours then 100% your unit is getting a completely different inspection before it leaves the facility. There is no way they just let it roll out of factory like the rest of them. That is great for you but I would not expect the quality of a unit I’d go and buy to be the same.
You would think but not necessarily.. did you watch the videos on my Coachmen Brookstone Luxury fifth wheel and the issues we resolved that were clear the same type of issues a regular buyer would have.
I think this is the beginning of the BTBRV RV Ranch Resort. Use the property to have all sorts of rv,s for people to rent out and try out. For an upgraded experience, Jd will give you a personalized tour of the rv………. Could be a really good business to grow into.
Nothing wrong with owning two trailers. We had two up until 3 years ago. We lived full time in our Coachman North Ridge 39 foot fifth wheel with five slides. We didn’t tow it, it never left our leased RV lot. We had a smaller travel trailer that we traveled in on weekends. We towed it with our RAM 1500 Eco Diesel.
Finishing our 3rd season with our 2021 Surveyor 202RBLE. If you didn’t have any sawdust, it was definitely cleaned up better. We have put 13,500 miles on it pulling with a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 5.3 V8. Pulls fantastic even in the mountains. Ours is 4828 lbs dry. Ordered it with every option. We live in South GA and camp all over GA, FL, SC, NC, TN. We go to the mountains sometimes 3 times a year. No big issues with it. My big valance fell off over my slide window. Fridge light stoped working. Countertop material is starting to peel up around my kitchen sink. It’s never been in a shop for repairs. I do all maintenance myself including wheel bearings and brakes. Stock tires have held up well. It has been a great camper for us. Purchased from Couches RV Nation in Ohio.
We have a comment that we have to address on a video also! It was almost like a book, I almost need your perspective on it. We almost bought a surveyor. Thanks JD
JD, here in southern Idaho the dealerships typically do not PDI the units upon arrival but rather wait until they have a buyer who has committed to buying the unit, they will usually wash the exterior and that is about it, as least that has been our experience so far. We have been subscribers for a few years always enjoy your content, keep it up!
I suppose it really is up to the dealership. All the experiences that I've had, even before my RUclips channel, were going through the unit and checking that everything worked properly and repairing things that didn't. I even remember that the first fifth wheel we bought went to a station where they filled the water tanks and check the water pump as well as pulled panels down to vacuum out anything that they saw.
Love the channel and this new direction. You continue to evolve and become more relevant to a wider base. People are ridiculous. Even if Forest River gave your model just a little more attention it's still constructed the same exact way. Any issues will appear sooner or later At the very least even a cynic could use your content as a measuring stick for the unit they just purchased. If they have problems your channel would be an excellent baseline in which to use for comparison. In other words they could say this is the way it should be and it would help them when dealing with their local dealer for any issues they might encounter. Keep doing what you do. Some people can't be helped and maybe they should just move on. Your videos have been incredibly helpful to me and I reference you to people on a regular basis. You truly have an educational and entertaining channel. I've been following you for a while and that's always been consistent. Thanks so much for what you do!.
I think the naysayers are just jealous of you. You have a nice property and nice things that most people don’t have. You work very hard to acquire your things. When people are jealous they tend to poopoo others because they can’t achieve the same success as others. Don’t fret about them. Continue doing you and putting in the long hours putting out your content. Many of us like it just the way it is, although don’t be afraid to show your face from time to time in a mirror while recording 😂
My wife and I have been looking for a RV for years. I may never buy a new one and my reasoning is price and quality. I feel like quality has dropped and prices are out of control. Also I'm not a fan of truck prices either.
Good example of non PDI by manufacturer and dealer occurred several years ago when we were at a campground in central VT. A dealer delivered a brand new Denali travel trailer to the site next to us for someone to use as a seasonal. When they went to hook it up, they discovered that there were no water lines in the camper. The customer was dumb enough not to refuse it, so the dealer solution (since it was to be a seasonal), was to run water lines under the camper to the various fixtures. We were amazed that it could have gotten that far and no one discovered the omission.
JD, you been doing a lot of splaining Lucy! I would say that the vast majority of your followers get it. There will always be folks that live in the negative, but based on your status and the respect you have garnered in the industry you hit the mark more than not. But I do respect your humility and to me that says it all! Keep those videos rolling my friend.
one thing that everyone needs to think of is when towing and if the trailer breaks fail going down a steep hill is can the truck come to a stop safely . i feel like if a trailer is more then 25 foot you should use a 3/4 ton just for breaking ability . its not just about the power and suspension to pull but the ability tp stop without trailer breaks . for me you should never exceed 3/4 of the tow rating of a tow vehicle . one more thing is how to correctly adjust and use trailer breaks from the tow vehicle . if you have pulled a trailer enough to know how to parallelly park it you might be able to handle the job or back through the forest in blackout without a ground guild you might know how to respond to different environments .driving a fully loaded 5 ton with a 30 foot trailer down a tank trail in black out oh what fun army reference if you didn't understand where i went with that
Hey JD. Again congratulations on the new trailer. I am watching thos video as I am sitting at a RV dealership picking up our new trailer. Already walked through the unit and it looks amazing. The dealership is also going to go over it one more time before my wife and I leave with it this afternoon. Congratulations again on your new trailer.

@@BTBRVReviews You hear about the restaurant on the moon? Good food, no atmosphere. ;) Looks like a neat little unit. That hydraulic hitch you reviewed looked pretty cool too.
If you get a chance can you test the road active suspension, sumo spring and maybe airbags. I have a 2023 gmc 1500 diesel. Thanks to your videos, I know what my trucks capabilities are and what I can tow. But would like to improve towing experience without having to go to a 2500
We specifically love the fact that it's a sofa when we want it to be a sofa and a bad one we want it to be a bad. We almost chose the floor plan that had the bed as a permanent feature. The cool thing about this is, we can have it either way or both ways.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate how you guys bought this rig based off the capabilities of a 1500 (which I also agree with your 26 foot 6000# rule and preach it all the time) It's just a personal preference of mine to have a rig w/o a murphy. I remember on a GM truck page a guy was towing a 5'er the size you guys have with a 1500, and commented something along the lines of "man, that's a bad bay waiting to happen" and the responses to that comment were just terrible.
Wait a SECOND! You mean, this channel isn't about blowing up RVs and trucks? I'm outta here!! LMAO. Haters gonna hate, JD. Keep your chin up, hopes high and spread the love. I'm here for the information, reviews and general knowledge you provide. I have given criticism in the past, hopefully constructive. I would never intend it to be demeaning or insulting. Keep up the great work and best wishes to you and your family.
I don't think you got any special treatment with pdis or anything but I am sure if you do have an issue you'll get way better treatment then a few people with Forest River, then even I did with 100k fifth wheel. I'm sure it will be great content but I would never own a forest river product
Regardless, any dealer that knows an RV will be featured on a RUclips channel (which would be part of the narrative of anyone filming the purchase process and all the details) would likely treat the RV differently than a consumer who's just buying it off the lot normally.
if one person consent is allowed by TX law, the wife could just have her phone sticking out of a shirt pocket recording. the dealer wouldn't have to know. just a thought. have a good weekend.@@BTBRVReviews
