It sounds like I will love this book! I still need to truly fall in love with Abercrombie but from how you described this as perfect to access to him, I think it will be also a 5 star for me! 🫶
"...brimming with laugh out loud moments..." I believe you; there are two authors who never fail to make me laugh: Joe and Stephen King. About 10 years ago, I went along my husband to the doctor's office and while he was being seen I sat in the waiting area and cracked open The Blade Itself. I got to the part where Glokta was trying to go down the stairs and I laughed and snorted rather loudly. It was a very unladylike wheezing laugh made worse because there were other people sitting there and nothing would make you laugh more than not wanting to laugh in public. I hate that The Devils is still ways away, but I'm preordering the shit out of it because it's Abercrombie.
I've never read Joe Abercrombie and I definitely want to however, It's easier for me to be more excited in reading 'The Devils' compared to the First Law mainly because it's 1 book vs 9. I will probably read First Law some day but that day is not today lol
If it makes you feel better, it's more like 3 trilogies of 3 books, with the second trilogy mostly being standalone. If you read nothing else, I do say try Best Served Cold. It's the best book in the Standalone books and honestly my favorite.
Definitely treat The First Law World as a series of three trilogies. I think they will make the series much more approachable. When I read the series, Age of Madness wasn't out yet, and I did not feel intimidated by the world! :)
@@PsyKotyK i love them all! Honestly, Abercrombie's First Law is a big click with me. I have a soft spot for The First Law trilogy though. 😄 That said, Red Country while still great is my least favorite from him
Absolutely going to be reading this, all you needed to say was "Joe Abercrombie" and I was 100% on board! I'm not so sure about the cover art though, maybe it would make more sense after reading it but I probably would wait for someone to do a special edition, probably Broken Binding. Hopefully the audiobook will be Steven Pacey again, he is an absolute master narrator and mixed with Abercrombie's style it's just perfection! That's probably what I'll do for this one, listen to the audiobook and wait and see what the special edition covers are like even if it means waiting for the whole series to be out first.
Glad to hear you're 100% on board for this! Personally, I think the cover art is just "vibe" of the novel. As I always say, I prefer illustration more than symbolic cover.
