Greg, I enjoy watching you fish. I’ve had to give up bass fishing I ruptured two disc in my low back in 1988. Due to bad doctors and my own being a hard head, the time Iberween 1988 - 2003, caused the disc to calcify. Suffice to say, the doc had a tough time making it where I can walk,
I am thankful to be upright but the nerves in my legs took a beating they cause tremendous pain. Still praying for a cure. God bless and I enjoy watching you catch em’. Later, DavidE
I'm almost positive that for the flipping setup he was using in this video he was using a Quantum Smoke reel with an 8.1:1 gear ratio. For this style of fishing you'd want an 8:1 ratio reel, or 7:1 at the very least. The Smoke comes in an 8.1:1 ratio so I can't imagine he'd be using anything other than that.
Hackney is my absolute favorite! Hey Hack, how about just keeping the pack of soft plastics in your pocket or atleast leave em on the front deck and not have to dig under the hood every time you need a bait.
Seriously, I watched a video where he was talking about how he was very efficient and it helped him to get more casts in a day. The whole time doing the same thing, going for a fresh bait in storage. You know what's going on when the one you're using is shot. Keep em close, I do!
Oklahoma City Bass Fishing every time I watch him I think the same thing. But he’s caught 100x more fish than me in my life so he probably knows more than I do lol
@Gary Crotch- When did Houston uproot and move? Why not say this is Dallas or San Antonio? Lake Conroe is conveniently located between Conroe and Montgomery, Texas, neither of which has a damn thing to do with Houston. In fact, Houston is not even in the same county as Lake Conroe. Do you call Andy Montgomery Andy Houston or Andy Dallas? I think he'd slap the snot out of you if you did. Are you sure Hackney, Crochet and Lavigne are from Louisiana, not Michigan? That Crochet fella sounds like a Yankee.
I like Hackney but I'm a stickler for the way that a fish is returned to the water. Anyone that drops them like that I call them out on it. Even if it is inconvenient I go out of my way to put them back correctly. Even in my videos, I'm sure to put them straight into the water. I wish BASS would set rules for fish release. That's disappointing.
I love watching this type of fishing, but I really hate the disrespect shown. Not just this guy, but most of the videos like this. It seems to be a trend of just "slinging the fish" if it doesn't suit him. I see the younger guys do it too, and I assume they are just replicating what these guys do. Would it hurt him to just put it back properly? I'm not getting sentimental about the fish, it's just a shocking show of disrespect in general. Is this how these guys treat everything else in their lives?
Theses guys have caught and released fish for decades with an extremely low mortality rate. I'm not sure bass have emotional feelings. However, if they did this would not be one of disrespect but rather, happiness. Due to the fact that he is free, alive, and not on someone's dinner plate alongside the hush puppies. Now, you go on and kiss Hillary's liberal ass some more, try not to tell other professionals how to do their job, and continue eating what I could only imagine is anything but meat, you whinney little man..... I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt by calling you a man.
Shawn Edwards Im not a liberal and I agree, he also ruins the fish's slime coat by measuring it with a dry stick, you dont know anything about the fish, just stick to watching and not doing bud
I too also agree you should put the fish back more carefully than just chucking them back. I do understand that it’s the classic and you’re in a hurry and ready to get the next cast in but chucking the fish back like that can do some harm, especially if it’s in low water and they hit a stump
The pressure from the hook set and the turning of the bass' head and jawbone is much worse. There is greater probability that you severely hurt/damage the fish with a hookset than dropping into the water ( ya know where it can breathe again). Did no one notice that some of the bass he hooked traveled through brush, out of water under their own body weight?
Agreed, this is great footage. Love watching Hackney fish!
