My first ever monitor was a Savannah. Thankfully I had access to good information about husbandry so he lived 15 years in good health. They're still my favorite monitor lizard species to this day.
Thank you so much for sharing this! It is amazing to see them in the wild and to see what you find about them there. There is such a lack of actual information on these monitors in their natural habitat and so many are misguided by people in the pet trade. I love these monitors very much and hope that they can be better understood so that their captive lives can be improved a lot. Amazing work!

I am currently writing a paper on how I breed my captive boscs, but I haven't finished it yet. I am also making a new video from when I visited their wild habitat a few weeks ago, which also isn't finished.

And why is it limping? I notice my newly bought Savannah has a slight limp or or something and I’m concerned. What could this be ? I would be happy to show you vids via email
Hi, I'm happy you like the video! The limping one is mine. I came home one day and found it like that. Took it to the vet, got x-rays done, the vet re-aligned the part where the bone had been broken and stabilized it against the torso. I kept the lizard dry and fed it extra calcium for 7 weeks, and when I took the stabilizing tape/gauze off, it was as if the bone had never been broken in the first place :) Now it's impossible to tell which leg it even was when looking at the lizard. I have one rn I’ve been feeding him snails roaches worms and feed him a piece of fish I caught and a small piece of chicken breast I want him to live up to 20 years so ima keep him healthy and not obese
