I have a right-handed 2017 Standard T in HCS. It is a fantastic guitar. I've owned other Gibson Les Pauls previously, this one though is exceptional, it's so articulate, responsive and feels alive. A superb guitar.
I was never into Grim Reaper, nor did I try to learn any of his lessons in guitar world-but through sheer determination, Nick has finally made me a fan! Great demo! Your far too humble -you helped define a genre!
Please do not confuse "coil tap" and "coil split". When single coil of humbucker is used -- it's "coil split". When part of pickup wires is removed inside the coil -- it's "coil tap".
What's the finish on the back of the neck? I got a Tribute I chose over a Standard, because the neck was so glossy my hand didn't slide nicely like the satin finish on my tribute.
Love this! Me a leftie too and it's HIGH time that one of the Big Guns showed some colour choice for us lefties! I unboxed the same guitar today in Blueberry Burst! It's Stunning! Fender don't give a shit about us lefties - so thank you Gibson!!! About time! The colour I couldn't resist, although your right, all the 2017 are stunning...
Nice review. The guy is funny, if a little monotone; but love his self-deprecating style. Good review, and the first les paul in a long time that I've wanted!
Nick's somebody I could hang out and jam with. Kudos to Sweetwater for givin' the guy a job. I bought a Gibson Les Paul Custom 1973 when i was in 8th grade for $350.00(used). That guitar is not feasible these days for me, but the Epi Tommy Iommi may be. Thanks Nick for your reviews!
IM RIGHT HANDED, lol but wow the honey burst loving it. So. Much its my first Gibson as been fender man still am but hey different tones. Plus I'm getting older and guitars my thing and my dog lol.honey burst in different lighting looks unreal. If i was near Sweetwater I would have got from you. But in Australia for a great company GOP to South Coast Music bought my j Hendrix and some amps great Aussie shop. One day ill visit sweetwater. On a veterans affairs pension so after purchase long savings started again. Love a xxl shirt or ticket to visit lol.
If this plec machine is so accurate, they better make the frets from stainless steel because a fret dress by a human hand will make this fretboard terrible!
I have one of these 2017 Standards. I also have Epiphone Standards, and custom shop models, such as the Bonamassa. Trust me, the Epi's are great guitars but, in all honesty there is quite a big difference between the Epi's and the Gibson. The Bonamassa is the closest soundwise, almost as full and articulate as the Gibson but, ultimately the Gibson is the better guitar. Which it should be, it cost about 4 times as much as the Epiphones

I bought a Blueberry Burst from Sweetwater. Absolutely love it.
Jbgoth omg yes. that blueberry burst sold me on this guitar
Lucky! I got a heritage cherry sunburst used for 1550 which is why I didn’t get the blueberry burst.

I have one and it rips when I play it on my helix native man oh man I love my Gibson t model ❤
I just bought a BRAND NEW NEVER PLAYED last week in 2022. A GREAT guitar. Not like my 74 but still fun to play.

Ivan Kosyakov alot of people understand this but the problem is hardly anyone makes real coil taps anymore
Unfortunately, because it would provide even more sound options in one guitar.

I wish my guitar came with Marie Osmond.
I like this guy, not only a really good player but a comedian as well. Amazing guitar, great demo.
Black and non more black made me smile I'm thinking about the bourbon burst myself

I’ve got this guitar and i love it! Great video!
Excellent review and excellent guitar! (though I guess the Friedman amp is helping a lot!)
Great demo, great demoer and great guitar
The paralel and series mod is lot better sounding than the split coil sound.
There's one killer tool in the video and that's the Friedman! =))
magy guitar I was like "ooh! Nice amp, maybe I'll get . . . $2900? . . . $2900!!!! Uh, maybe not."
In most demo's they forget to mention one important thing when it comes to gibson's..what type of frets are they using....vintage or modern ??
it was no joke that sweetwater is going all metal LOL

Nick is awesome!
Nice good job! man. sold me!
Hi, I think you have to test a guitar without distortion first.
what distortion???
finger board. rosewood or baked maple?

Coil tap, or coil split? They are not the same thing.
i have a question, i have one, but is it normal that when you dont touch the guitar when the volume is up you get this crazy humming?
joerve128 same here but with Stratocaster
nice review
Ooh, I like it...
cooolest left handed demo guy ever
"Can I make you an offer you can't refuse?"
What does the "T" mean ??
maretin92 "traditional" spec I believe
Thanks ;)
Compound radius neck? Pleked? Asymmetrical neck profile? Coil splitting, series/parallel switch, WEIGHT REDUCTION?!... It's not traditional lol
No scratch plate with this model ??
no pickguard....FOR YOU!!!!!!!
Its included in the package but you have to install it yourself.
Tony Aguilar aka leaving it off lol. I’m not hiding any of my beautiful burst and wood grain by plastic.
made in usa ?
all Gibson models are made in USA friend if you are looking for the alternative there´s epiphone.
couldn't they have filmed him in a mirror so it would show righty?

maxpayne123 about time then to get back on course for an expensive iconic brand like this, complacency was not their friend!
Buy a Epiphone Les Paul there know different in comparison they still sound the same. troyster
Nah sorry good guitars but 15 millimeter maple cap as opposed to 2 millimeter maple veneer trust me the're not the same.
