Hey anyone visiting this vid, I've gotten a lot better at music making since this, and I encourage you to check out this channel for multiple tunes weekly. You can also find me as VolcanoOfBears on Bluesky, where I talk about my next game, Legend of the Origin Story of the Epic Rise of the Sofa King. Also, don't forget all the new variants of beepbox, from Modbox to Jummbox and others. Thanks!
I like making songs for my friend’s games. Usually they’re jokes, and don’t have high standards. But this really helped, now I’ll be able to make actually good songs! Thanks for the help!
I too am a huge fan of retro video game music and chiptune in general. I've used beepbox for 4 years now and I feel it's safe to say that I utilize it in a way that shows something very important about the tool. Yes, it is easy for a person lacking in musical skill to pick up on something like beepbox, but it's the way they use it that effects the result. For example, I use different software to make percussion for my songs and I use modded beepbox to make the melodies. Beepbox isn't a tool that's just for inexperienced musicians (:
Did he just say *A*ll *G*ood *B*oys *D*eserve *F*udge?? Anyway, GREAT VIDEO!!! 🙏🏼Thank you so much for this thorough tutorial!! Looking forward to using this tool!!
Man I used beepbox for a long time (and i still do with modded versions like Jummbox and Goldbox) and I picked up so many cool new techniques along the way to make better songs overall. I am kinda worried I wouldn't be able to use any other software tho, since beepbox is really REALLY user-friendly.
Lately I've been looking at some other tracking tools, and I while I still feel that Beepbox and its progeny are the most user friendly, I've been pleased to see that many such tools are pretty close. That said, I still prefer the box family as it is really so easy to jump in and out of. Thanks for the comment!
Awesome tool to make chiptune music... I've posted some musics using other softwares like Koji and SuperAudio but this BeepBox is so much easy and friendly to use... awesome!
This is probably one of the best videos I've seen regarding music production. Pure inspiration! ❤ Also, what a fantastic track! ... I'mma go check your other music real quick!
Thanks so much for the kind words! I'm always working on improving, and I definitely have learned a lot since making this video, hope to do a follow-up some day!
Omg this was very helpful! I’m very interested into the retro video game music and hope to create a theme using this soon. I love ur work btw and congrats on ur newest subscriber ;)
Hello, I was watching your guide. My goal is to start learning to make Chiptune or 8-bit music. And I realized there is no reverb bar, which I saw you use for around 10 minutes. And I wanted to ask if you could let me know what has or hasn't changed with using BeepBox to make this genre of music. (Basically where is the reverb and other buttons/features that were relocated)
Hi Astro! If you click "customize instrument" below your instrument choice (right side), more options should emerge. You will either get Reverb, and if not, you can click on "Effects" and select Reverb from the drop-down list. You can also find more options on follow-up tools like Modbox, Jummbox, etc.
I've been using Jummbox, Modbox and a few other a lot more these days, but I still prefer a few tiny quirks of the original a bit better for most things. Jumm and mod are pretty coo though.
Hmm, I don't know how Chrome Music Lab works, so I can't say. Do you mean: A:) you want notes to carry from one bar to the next B:)you want to scroll through octaves C:)You want there to be a smooth transition between notes D:)Something else
Jummbox and Modbox are two alternatives with more options that I occasionally use. They have a lot more power, but sometimes too much for little ol' me.
Doesnt even matter if you want chiptune melodies, with a decent to high understanding of music you can make any of the other instruments sound brilliant
Man, I wish I knew! The only advice I can give as I learn is to make it simple! Listen to great melodies from Mozart to Juice Wrld, or from Rob Hubbard to Manami Matsumae - despite background complexity, the melodies are always simple. That's the part I find challenging, not going all in on every note.

God... sometimes I wonder how people make music so easily
He is literally place random notes and seeing if they sound good.
@@BookGuy1 thats how everybody makes music. just in their heads.
The best song I made literally sounds like 💩
It’s magic…
wait til you see what people make on ultrabox

Nice to hear, but if my advice was THAT good MY music would be good! 😆
Seriously, thanks for the kind comment.

Yeah, 'bout that, he did. It's
*E*very

Or at least that's how I learnt it.
I don't *C* all 7 notes. Can anyone else *E*k (eke) them out?

this is super helpful as an aspiring game dev
this has helped me understand the program a lot better than I did before
Thank you! I'm still learning all these things myself!

I've really enjoyed using it, and improved a lot since this video, because it's quite easy to doodle out a tune every day.

there's also an expanded version with more features called 'pandora's box' :D
Nice video. Learned something new in beepbox from this video.
Thank you! Glad to be of assistance!
Thank you I was having such a hard time finding instruments that worked for one of these.
I've learned a lot since this video myself, feel free to IM me on Twitter if you have other questions! Glad to be helpful!
you can also use Magical8Bit vst plugin for this retro sound
bless you for this tutorial
I keep thinking I should do an update because I've learned a lot... but then, I'm so lazy... 😁
if youd want to, id definantly tune in! there are some specific chip sounds im trying to make, but enough trial and error will teach me it anyways!
Thank you! Excellent tutorial, very clear and informative!
Thank you for the comment, definitely a real person!

beepbox is awesome
Good video. Just so you know, a chord has to have at least 3 notes in it. 2 notes is called a harmonic.
Thanks, I literally did not know that, even though both my kids are taking piano lessons!
But, nobody calls it a power-harmonic
Amazing! Funny thing, I like making game music, but I end up NEVER making a game. I have problems, lol.
Yep, I make so much more music than I ever can use! I like to listen when I'm working because I don't associate my music with anything in particular.
@@mirasbrush4607 Yeah. You're so talented as well!
eyyy i didnt even know that you had a youtube channel
I barely do! :D
@@mirasbrush4607 yea i guess uploading consistently is a struggle xd
you seem to have it under controll tho
Cool 🎉❤

If you want a good chiptune music maker, I'd highly recommend Famistudio!
As geometry dash player, sometimes I wanna make my own music hehe
how do i make the music not be made in specific sections and instead have it free flow as if it were in chrome music lab?
