Great video. I was in similar situation when we moved to our home and purchased new beds. Garbage truck didn’t take them either, so I turned my three box springs into garden raised beds. Growing okra, corn, and Roma tomatoes.

      Hi there,
thanks for watching my video and the kind feedback. Yes, this was certainly an interesting process after the garbage truck did not take the mattress and it was too big to fit in my small car. Hope your raised garden beds work out and your garden sounds splendid by the way.

The springs would make an excellent tomato cage

      Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. Yes there are things that can be done with the scraps from the mattress. A tomato cage is one of them. This feedback has propped up several times in this comment section. Thanks again for watching my video and the subport to help me grow my channel 👍🏾😀

Here I thought you were making some sort of tool rack, which is what I've done with a couple old box springs, nails/hooks in the wood and little wood/minifridge pieces to make shelves on it. You had the wire frame coiled up in a circle I thought you were gonna put that on a lazy susan and make one better than I did...thanks for the idea though!
The fabric that comes on them is actually fairly unique, like waterproof shadecloth, it comes in handy now and again

      @@giovybez8061 Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. Most beds these days don't use a box spring, in fact most mattresses come in a box and that's all you need. Many people in the comments section below whom have taken their apart have shared ideas of what they did after taking it apart.Enjoy taking it apart and be safe.

This is smart!! I have a box spring to get rid of and originally I called a junk removal company for a quote to take an old dresser and the box spring and was told it was going to cost somewhere between $100- $125. That seems really expensive, no thanks! Also, I have been looking into utilizing the box spring for a raised bed in my garden too but if that doesn't work out at least I won't have to pay expensive removal costs.
    Thank you!!!

My trash company will take mattresses and box springs. They have to be wrapped in plastic completely, and you have to call ahead of time to give them advance notice that you’re putting out large item(s). They charged like $15 to haul away a mattress and box spring.

@@TowneBlvdTiy Hello. It took me about 4 hours. Removing the wood planks from the spring is the most time consuming part. I also cut the spring into smaller piece. bad decision on my part because it also took some time too. should have kept it like yours. I'm saving the wood planks as scraps. Everything else either goes to trash or junk yard.
