I ordered this model kit myself! Can’t wait to start working on it once it comes in. I bit ya the lighting was pretty hard to pull off. Your model of her turned out to be quite a beauty! Nice work! I do have one question though. The yellow tape templates that you had on the top of her saucer section on her phaser banks, do you put that on for when your painting the area or like small areas of the model?
Good kit to have in your lineup! You're right, lighting this is a beast of a job. As for the yellow tape, that's Tamiya brand masking tape. Very low tack and great to work with. To answer your question, it's both. The tape can mask off smaller areas that you've already painted, and then you can more broadly paint the rest of the assembly. I suggest you look at any Lou Delmaso Aztec Dummy on youtube for helpful hints on masking. He's the master there! Thanks again for the compliment!
The model looks fantastic. I was wondering what did you use a Tenacontrols lighting kit for your lighting effects? I love the color palette. Hope to see more of your builds.
Mark, thank you for the kind comment. This one was a huge challenge for me. The lighting is done with my own home brew of lighting , with some help from Flytron out of the uk. They make a $3.00 board that has 5 flashing strobe effects. I wired one in for the navs, and one for the anti-collision lights. The Nacelles were done with a simple RGB flashing Led plus 3 more blue leds. It's not the spinning revolving bussards, but then again it cost less than a dollar to do. Thank you again for the note!
What a beautiful ship,you did a stupendous job .
Many thanks!
That came out fantastic. If mind comes out half as nice, I will be happy
Thank you! Cheers!
I like the ddeflector dish! I put blinking Blue SMDs in the nacelles on the two that I built!
The Photo-Etch is the key to the dish. I have another kit, and I think I can make it a much nicer model.

Tried 3 times to get this model right! 3rd try is underway! I'm going to give it my all, after all 3rd times a charm right!?
I sure to empathize with your plight! This kit is a significant challenge, but if you can get it done, it makes for a great display!
I just came across your channel very nice
