"Blind buys" are what I call when you find something you have experience getting and knowing it should sell for a profit [eg: those Great Courses DVD/CD sets]. I know books/media well, but action figures - learning *very* slowly. Been doing this since 2008, full time since 2009, so it can take time, though, and trends change [certain books used to be blind buys for me, and aren't now, for example - and things like certain SW/Marvel characters may be more popular when the shows/movies are airing, etc].

I like that, compared to last year, or certainly two years ago when I started on Bricklink and eBay, nowadays I can at least recognize a reasonable thrift store bag of Lego, or tell if an action figure is worth looking up or if it’s McDonald’s or dollar store junk.
I’m also really curious who the target market is for those Salesforce hats. Are people so into a CRM software company that they want the merch?

Building your knowledge base as reseller is the key to success. It is something that takes time. Good video.

Love to see all the sales! Personally, I super specialize in Lego, so the point where I know most of the time if what I’m looking at is money or not. My problem is that nowhere near me (thrift or yard sales) is usually anywhere near useful. The closest I’ve gotten is a kinex bin I wound up making $4 on because of shipping mistakes. So I don’t usually end up getting smaller, profitable buys. I get larger, more work buys that end up being pretty good (better if I had a brick link) 😂

Great advice! Feeling your pain on the heat - my BL shop is in the garage. We had a week of glorious "false fall" weather and it was so nice out there. Now...sweltering again.

The people door to the outside has a nice gap at the top where insects can enter, and cool air can escape.

I was told it is a good idea to start reselling with stuff from around the house

It's a great idea to do that.

That's how most people start off and it makes the mistakes easier/cheaper, since it is stuff you already own. I did a bit of that, but I also had a huge, exclusive source of books for a year that were all profitable [I still went out to sales and such to learn what stuff to get and what to keep on the tables]. I won't, however, ever forget my first item that I bought and sold on my bookstore - Microsoft Scrum - as someone who spent 19 years in the office doing programming and computer work, I had never heard of scrum, and to this day it's a word that makes me laugh - it's a way to do collaborative software development; I don't think it took off that well, and I blame the name :) ]. But hey the book sold for $20, and I paid 25 cents for it, so that's a nice markup. You never forget your first. :)
