This amazing video made me get one, it's coming home on Saturday...
How did you get on with it?
I own a HRD in emerald green w a V30 and all around couldn’t imagine owning anything better for me. Literally anyone who’s heard it or played through it is super impressed by it. The amount of head room is insane, at home I usually have the volume at 2 otherwise it’s too loud! Running drive through the front on clean can literally get you any tone you want while remaining a sound that’s personal to you. Running mods through the loop is insanely clean and dreamy. It’s a beast. Although, I’ve played through some new ones at shops that didn’t sound as nice, as good or as loud as mine so you might have to shop around till you find one that truly cranks. I definitely got lucky getting my limited edition one off a guy that never played it!
Me also love it great versatile gigging amp
I just got one in purple yesterday with the v 30s had a blues jr that was moded nicely from the previous owner sounded phenomenal but needed more head room
Picked up a tweed limited edition few weeks back. Dagan says never trust a man who doesn't like a tweed amp
Thanks Degan, after watching the vid; I called my guitar man and ordered one.
-Thanks again.
Distortion and overdrive pedal and a 2x12 or 4x12 and it'll do metal extremely well.
This amp with a Tubescreamer goes a loooooong way!
I have the TS9DX tube screamer & Jimi Hendrix Wah Wah daisy chained to the HRD iii 😮😮😮😮😮
I’ve got a US Elite strat and I’ve gone through so many amps to get that sound so maybe this is the one.
As soon as that drive switch went in Dagan came alive!!
Why always the Ibanez for the demos? In a music store, you would think you'd want to change it up every now and then? Nice review though
Alan Barnes ibanez guitars sound amazing tho
because the RG's plays like a strat on juice
the versatility and pickup configuration
@@zedzero77 I know it's an old comment.
But no they don't. At all. I love ibanez's but they do not sound like a strat
Pedro Silva I think he was meaning in playability and feel
Excellent review! Sounds absolutely amazing and I’m definitely convinced I’m getting one now
Every amp review should have a standard procedure: Strat type, clean and drive, then Les Paul type also clean and drive, its not that hard if you have a store full of guitars :/
It is in fact single coils vs humbuckers ☺️
Ibanez is much better tho
I agree that guitar sucks
It's a great point. I own this specific amp and I swapped to it because I hated the way my previous Vox AC15CC1 (Wharfdale speaker) sounded with humbuckers, though it sounded great with single coils. In the case of this amp, it handles both really well. Definitely think for amp reviews it would be great to hear singles and buckers, clean and drive channels as a SOP.
And no slow dancing in a burning room on a clean strat neck pickup
I've seen lots of reviews of this amp,I only liked a few, most are hog wash, this was my favorite ,and yes I just bought a tweed hot rod 3,it's a beautiful beast
Thanks for your démo, I've learned that this is not a amplifier for me. Have a good day
People trashing the Ibanez really think it’s the brand of guitar that makes you a better player I guess. Lol just go play your freaking guitar and stop gear policing people 🤣
Great amp...
But you will out grow it .. So to speak..
First mod I did after playing it for years was to change out one of the pre amp tubes..
I tried a volume control in the effects loop but was not to my taste..
It did work but..
The tube swap was the ticket..
Made it easier to dial in the volume to more of a practice amp to a melt your face make you drummer cry volume... And mellowed out the ice pick thing on these amps...
Than I put a Eminence Texas Heat speaker in it..
Of course there are other speaker options..
But the stock speaker for me had to go...
Now it is absolutely a sweet little beast...
And does it take pedals??
Hell yes...
What pre amp tube was replaced and what did you put in its place?
the mic looks way off from where the speaker is..i was wondering why it sounded like the mic wasnt over the speaker.
Love that Mayer tune
Slow dancing in a burning room is one of my absolute favorites
HELP,
I'm playing a festival and they are forcing me to use the backline. I.E, this Amp.
Is the pre Amp In and Out feature your aux sends & returns?????
I send 2 delay pedals to the aux send and return before the preamp amps normally, and am wondering if they are just using different terminology.
Again, is that an effects send& return for your reverbs/delays to be sent before the pre's?
Huge help to the individual with the right answer!
So can you plug in and play 2 guitar at once with it?
you could but i’m sure it would drop out
Love your demos
Great video, sound very good, plss egnater review:)
great demo, thanks!
Don't get the Ibanez criticisms myself. Nice review though.
I don't get it either. Ibanez make some gorgeous instruments. Many of them much better than the equivalent Fender offerings. Don't get me wrong, Fender make good guitars. With their modular design, they're a Lego style instrument. This make it easy to customize them to your personal needs. Once you've done that, is when they sound great. Out of the box though, they're pretty generic and one dimensional. I think there's a lot of teenage Fender snobbery going on.
Andy Mitchell There's always some brand snobbery going on. I have a US Les Paul Studio. I like it but it's not a brilliant guitar. It has issues. I've played one or two Ibanez guitars and they've never disappointed. They're so much cheaper, it's hard to see why we don't all play them. Everybody's tastes and requirements are different and, anyway, if we all played the same brand, where would the fun in that be!!
Gary Gamble well it's a very versatile amp and ibanez guitars are quite specialised beasts, really designed for heavy metal. Hope that helps.
@@ianhayden2547 Ha. An Ibanez isn't that heavy metalish for me. I play blues, rock and jazz on my Ibanez. Doesn't sound bad, really versatile as well
Meshuga!! Love it.
Just got one the other day best amp I have ever played 10/10 only complaint is that it’s way too loud
I got a captor x for mine, now I have ultimate volume control and stereo. Hot rod deluxe in stereo and double tracked, even has headphone for silent playing it cranked 🤘
2 questions ! Is the amplifier loud enough to jam with a real drum set ? And does it take pedals well ?
polar bear170 yes, both of these questions
it's realy realy loud.
If you turn it up to 8 in your bedroom it might peel some paint off the walls... Its pretty loud
I have it love it cool video
Nice review but tell me... What is the first song you play ?
Pierre Coutin slow dancing in a burning room, by John Mayer
It's so good that made a Ibanez sounds nice!
Cleanest glassy amp I've ever heard. The Hot Rod Deville 212 iii is also a strong contender, but way too much sound for my small location. The Deluxe is more ideal for me.
What settings were you using?
Hellish neighbors. I hear that. The hot rod deluxe is definitely not an Amp for a flat.
Anyone use one at home? Have you played the iv?
yeah. I have a tweed one with the jensen speaker in it. I have changed the 12AX7 at V1 for a JAN Philips 5751, although I know plenty that have changed it for a 12AT7. That makes it less harsh and better at low volumes for tone and control. It is an easy change to make.
I was all in until I noticed that you wear your watch on your right wrist. What kind of monster are you?
again test a fender amp with a Ibanez guitar some people will never learn.
Yeah, sorry. I have this amp now since today and I hate to say it but my $150 Ibanez is my only guitar so I have no option. I am getting a strat soon
Yeah a cheaper one at that
This or the Marshall dsl40
Sean Armao HRD iiii. I love mine! 🤘Both are nice options.
Whats the songs name? With the first clean sound? Thanks
slow dancing in a burning room - john mayer
They are extremely fucking loud. I had one made in the early 2000s and you can't put the volume over 1 if you live in an apartment. Definitely need to get an attenuator.
Volume pedal !!
The OD in this one is pretty terrible imo, but pedals are a thing so yay for the Hot Rod. It sucks that every reviewer plays basic ass blues and jazz though.
I played one with a v30 in it and it was awesome!
Got a made in USA one for $100
Me too. Just today.
Lucky rascals. Can't get here less than for $250-300 in your change.
@@Phoenix_cataclysm_in_2040 I just got lucky. Someone who didn’t know the value.
How does this do at low volume all around?
Yitz Chalfari does great at room volume
Rather loud but heard far worse at low volumes. This amp really wants to be at 3 and above though to get a good tone out of it (which is defiantly too loud for most home use if you are in attached housing or appartment)
Good at 2, better at 3, missing a lot of character at 1. At 2.5 - 3 though it can be quite loud so I keep mine at 2 unless I'm alone...in which case I like it at 3 - 4 for a small room if I want to swim around in my tone.
hate the sound of guitars where the strings aren't broken in. they sound metallic
this or IV
Who cares about lame drive and overdrive... Fuzz and distorsión are way cooler. I bought this amp for it's awesome spring reverb.
That's why you get pedals tbh
I have the version iii and it's okay for clean or with pedals, but that dirty channel is total crap. No-one in their right mind would use it.
What mess this guy can't put on another?
Should of played a tele through it...
That's the douchiest looking guitar I've ever seen in my life.
w/e looks like you know nothing about guitars
A fucking Ibanez in a strat shape that's got an HSH pickup order, and translucent sharktooth inlays? Nah, that's the fucking douchiest guitar I've ever seen. You could put hot rod flames on a fucking X shaped guitar and it still wouldn't look as douchey.
I'm a Fender, Gibson, Rickenbacker guy, but Joe Satariani plays Ibanez.
Now you apologise to Degan and his guitar.
w/e well, actually that's funny!
Lol
Yeah and have you ever noticed that only pretentious white people with no friends like Joe Satriani?
Dude, nice guitar, but play a fuckin fender next time :)
No metal sound. Not for me.
You need pedals dummy stupid head
pocho ok stupid head
yeah you smelly poo poo brain
@@danadams8649 let's not be too mean, that's too far
Lol
Horrible overdrive lovely clean
flobeeone kinobee thats quite based on personal opinion i’d say the amp is great for pedals but the o/d is awesome for jazz-rock imo
Yes, with the stock speaker. I played one with a v30, drive channel cranked. It was awesome.
I have this amp- it sounds junk
Now lets hear it with a strat instead of that thin horrible rattly sounding axe
This guy lays it on a little thick. Sounds disingenuous.
