Nice video. In the video mode my camera only records for 16 minutes and then stops. (3,99 GB). The memory card can cotain a lot more. What can I do to record a longer time? Thanks in advance!
I know this video is 8 years old, but it's still pertinent today, in 2024. I have both, SX40-60 and I love both cameras, they are just amazing, I use them more often than my Sony mirrorless camera. Unfortunately, the feature of recording a video and taking a picture simultaneously is no longer available in the SX60, but the SX60 has other features that the SX40 doesn't. The SX40 doesn't have an external mic input, but I converted mine and installed a 3mm jack for an external phone, and it works perfectly fine. The optical Zoom in the SX60 is 65X while the Zoom in the SX40 is 35X. Both cameras have an additional digital zoom. But, the image and video qualities are amazingly good, and I am speaking from experience, when I compare them to my most expensive Sony a7R V Mirrorless Camera, they are still in competition, the most expensive cameras require even more expensive lenses. Unless you're going to use it professionally don't bother buying it, mine was bought for me by my son as a present. I use these two cameras more than the mirrorless camera.
Excellent video! thanks. I left my SX50 out in the rain and was going to buy another one. But wanted to research to see if there was anything better. Whittled it down to the SX50 or SX60. After watching your video, I will definitely go with the 60. Also subscribing to your channel.
take the 40 for faster shutterspeed in burst and the 60 or 70 for more quality. 40 can also take pictures when you videomode it. 60 not. But i have also sony DSC hx10v and its amazing video quality, clear and good sound, small pocket sizecamera. Then i have also 550D for the pro video work. The bigger the lens the better the color quality and pixels.
Hi, have you figured out the problem? I am experiencing the same issue too, & am at a loss what the problem is. Please help me if you have figured out the solution. Thanks!
Jeff Parry I don't understand why you say that? I take it you don't understand this camera and don't know how to a just it!! I received this camera today and takes awesome video and pictures!! mind you I know how to use this camera!! that said I will be adding a review of this camera and how to a Just for awesome pictures and videos!! this guy that's showing you how to use this camera for pic and vid don't have any clue what he is doing!! give you a hint on what I'm talking about, for video Mode you can use Auto but that's not the right whay of doing so!! see that feature on the ajuster that looks like a video camera that's what you use!! lol all adjustments are done from there! subscribe to my channel for the full reviews and how to use this camera!! The right way
I've had it for about 4 years now. I know how to use it thanks Maxim. I owned a business selling ultralight camping gear and took most of the stock photos with this camera for the website, just not at night. I've had professionals and really good amateurs have a go and they can't get the thing to take even an acceptable video at the Returned and Services League, Australia (RSL) indoors or at a pub music night, the SX60 just can't do it due to the cheap chip in it. the aperture can't open enough to let the light in. Granted it takes very nice video and photos in day light but so does my ZT Blade mobile phone which I use for my gig recording along with my BOYA mic now because it does a better job in low light and well lit fluro conditions. I brought this camera because of Chris Rishworth videos and photo's here ruclips.net/channel/UCixDe2nzRXRb1LZca59K7Gg So, in my lengthy experience it's a no from me. I'll save up for the AX53 thanks. If you could put a link to using this camera at night with street and indoor shots at night, that would be great. Cheers.
Can you take a picture/frame from a recorded video? The sx50 lets you take a photo while recording but not the sx 60...it's very frustrating. I loved that feature and used it all the time!
I wanted this camera Canon sx60 but in my city we dont have Canon stores only Nikon so i bought the Nikon b700 and let me tell you all of you I Iove my camera
I have grain in my vids under fluro lights or pub conditions it just won't work. My mobile phone does a better job. What settings do you use in indoor light conditions please. As for now this camera is a wast of money, an expensive paper weight and I can't/don't recommend this camera to anyone. Save up and buy the Sony FDR-AX53 Handycam.
I have an older Sony, and I agree...this camera was a waste of money and I purchased it so I can do easy wifi downloads...and that isn't so easy either ...you have to go through the steps of their cannon connect app which isn't exactly an iCloud download. I could have saved $ by just sticking to my Sony camcorder, which is older, but definitely much better video quality with no messing around.
morgann s *Yes. It has a pretty decent mic. It also has external mic option. You can use cheaper and good quality boya M1 lavelier mic for excellent audio quality*
Hey! Don’t know if your still wondering but playback is the button that looks like youtube haha, ir has a play button inside a square ! Hope this helps
Disappointed with this camera. I wish you guys who make videos like this that people base purchases on would mention that this camera makes horrible low light video. And when I say "low light" I mean anything that isn't outside on a sunny summer day. I know the sensors must be small but I've seen video from the cheapest smart phones make less grainy video than my SX60 HS.
It is good help for people who are new to cameras! Thanks for this video.
This was exactly what I was looking for.

OK, but what about playback? It's confusing, looking for a video on the complete process.
I guess you can use the auto/hybrid mode if you want to record and take still photos.
Hello man quick question if am recording a video on that camera can I pause the video or no or do I need to stop recording

Me also facing this problem 30 FPS look better but when I try to record 60 FPS It become grainy.

I disagree. I've had zero issues in low light with this camera.
My video screen won’t show me what I’m doing
