Great looking bike! Whats that Box on the left hand side next to the indikator switch? Also do the bar end mirrors vibrate? Looking for some mods for my bullet ! ... thanks
Well spotted! I should have mentioned it perhaps. It's the controls for the heated grips. Sadly nothing 007. The bar end mirrors are incredibly clear. It may depend to some extent how much your bike vibrates. Some seem worse than others, and mine doesn't seem too bad. I wouldn't say they're perfect, as they are quite small, and would work better mounted over the bar rather than under. Still far better than the original mirrors that, for me were completely useless. I hope that's some help, and thanks for watching.
Was that the famous cream tea border crossing bridge at the beginning ? Certainly looked like it. Your Classic in chrome really is the bees knees. I know it cost more than the others but it was definitely worth it ! Lovely thing ! Cheers 👍
Great videos..I just bought a 2017 desert storm 500...the guy has a massive straight through exhaust! Seems to run rough and wants to stall ..lot of fouling on the spark plug, would that be from the exhaust?
Hi, thank you! I wish I could help, but I’m no expert. I understand they run better with baffles, and the lack of back pressure can lead to valve damage, but really, don’t take my word for it. Whether it would run better with a different exhaust is probably down to trying it. Hope you sort it, they’re brilliant bikes. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful.
Only thing I believe it doesn't match with the bike are the mirrors. Their look is too modern for the Classic 500. I've got the same silencer as yours on my battle green one. Got a bar end mirrors too from Halcyon, you might like them more and also got the saddle cover changed in a place called The Trimming Centre in Lewes. Thanks for the video mate! Always nice to see another Classic 500 owner :)
Hi, thanks for your feedback. I quite like the mirrors, but, actually you could be right. The saddle cover sounds interesting. There is definitely something about the look of it that niggles me. Thanks again! Ride safe.
Hello, I received my Bullet 3 weeks ago and ordered a Hitchcock silencer, the same as yours. I installed it today. I hadn't imagined that the sound would be so loud, almost obnoxious, mainly during acceleration. Do you know if the baffle sold by Hithcock reduces that sound a bit ? Regards, J. Roussel
Hi there! The silencer should come with the baffle. Mine was already fitted. I have never taken mine out, as it seems loud enough with it in. I certainly understand why you find it too loud without it. I would question Hitchcocks, perhaps they have made a mistake supplying it without the baffles. Unless they have changed it since I bought mine. Not sure if that’s any help, but all the best.
Well done man, I swapped the original rear light holder for a smaller one with tiny Iride S multifonction led lights. When you 'll change the spark plug get also a K&N air filter. Nice bike on nice roads. 👍 from France
Your bike looks amazing, I totally agree the black tail light looked out of place, much better as it is now. I just bought my new RE classic 500 a couple of days ago and I’m waiting for it to arrive home, I’m glad I did it before all the 500s are gone. I had a question in mind let’s see if you can help me with it: is it actually possible to buy all the parts at kitchcocks or any other company to change your RE from one color to another? Has any subscriber ever done that before?
Hi Hugo! Thanks, some like the light and others don’t. But I prefer it 👍🏼 Congratulations on your purchase. You must be buzzing with excitement. Regarding changing colour, I haven’t heard of anyone doing it that way. Looking at the website I would say no, but I’ll have a look at the catalogue at home over the weekend, that seems more extensive. I suspect it would be an expensive way of doing it though. I believe the tank alone is around £300.
@@Saddlebags73 Yes, I am really excited, it’s the gunmetal grey color, I love that color but I really like the chrome graphite too and I was thinking that maybe in the future I could change color. Hi, thank you! I think the light is a bit marmite, but I like it. The mirrors are the same, some like them, some think they’re hideous. But I’m happy 😊 Thanks for giving it a watch.
The NGK iridium may or may not cause problems with fouling. NGK resistor plugs are intended to be used with their resistor caps, this restricts the current (Ohm's Law) which results in a longer duration spark which is better for ignition. This what is meant by suppressing the spark, it's not to reduce radio interference. The oem HT lead is rubbish, replace it with heat proof silicone insulated (it screws into the coil like the HT cap). The motor can be fussy about having exactly 0.70mm spark gap.
@@Saddlebags73 almost any automotive parts store. Hitchcocks do sell it by the metre. Ebay and elsewhere online. The oem gets baked solid above the motor and cracks, nbg. @@Saddlebags73 I've only seen the indicators from a distance. They don't look too bad on camera. You can always tell plastic up close though. These are all good sensible mods.
I enjoyed seeing your modifications. I must get a similar exhaust for my 2011 B5. Not sure about the knee pad idea though. Part of the attraction of your bike is all that chrome and, in my opinion, knee pads would just cover part of its distinctiveness rather than protecting it. A better idea would be furry pads attached to your knees!
NPLO Aviation thank you! Yes I think the exhaust is just right. A bit more of a bang without being too unsociable. You’re probably right about the knee pads. I can’t bring myself to stick anything to the paintwork. The furry pads is a good idea. Thanks for the feedback 👍🏼
is 28 years old too young to own one? I have a super naked but I want a chilled out second bike and something that I can work on myself and service myself without worrying Ill brake it. But I am just worried ill look silly on it.
It is a bit of a granny magnet, but you could be the new ‘cool’ 😎 Maybe the RAF blue or Army green carry a bit more street cred. All I really know is once you’ve ridden one you won’t care what anyone thinks. Your stupid big grin will look sillier than the bike 🤪
I'm inclined to agree your mods look great especially the tail light! Having sat on one recently I find the seat too close to tank and needs to be set back 2 to 3 inches but not sure ( not owning one ) whether it's feasible.good review!
Many thanks! I find it very comfortable, however it might be even more so with the seat set back. I haven’t looked but I imagine it would only need some simple modifications to the brackets. There would be a gap between the seat and tank then. Not sure how that would look 🤔
I added the royal enfield comfort seats to mine and the difference is amazing you can sit back further due to it not having a hump and the comfort level is chalk and cheese, I can now sit on it all day long without resorting to moving around, whereas before I was moving around after 1/2 an hour
Stunning bike if not totally my cup of tea (I must be too young haha) Bikes are a personal statement and nothing says personal more than owners modifications. If you think they improve your bike that's all that really matters. Oh and it does sound gorgeous I agree with the builder chap

Great weekly video 👍. Yeah Hitchcock's will make you poor very quickly. Done first service on mine upto 350. Will definitely get this exhaust when run in 1000miles or so. Sorry mate but the tail light is not for me🙁
Thanks Pike. I have temporarily banned myself from Hitchcocks. Nice! I’m getting some good use out of mine recently. Appreciate your honesty regarding the light. I’m still not 100% sold on the light itself, and may make some alterations over the winter. But will keep the chrome mounting.
Hi, thank you. It seems to be a bit marmite, but I like it obviously. Ah lucky you! Well done on securing one. I hope you get as much enjoyment from it as I do mine.
It was a surprisingly loud solid thumping sound!! Very fulfilling!! I never expected it... sadly though, such loud exhaust is banned now here in India 🇮🇳...
That's a shame. It is louder than the original, but not so loud as to make it unsociable. I have kept the original exhaust in case the laws change here. All the best!
@@Saddlebags73 I own a 500 c.c. stealth black. Your bar end mirrors look awesome and inspired me to replicate it on my 🏍 . In searching mode now for similar mirrors...
The only modification you did I don't really like are the bar end mirrors. They look out of place with the style of the bike, and wouldn't fit through my living room door (yes, I keep my Royal Enfield in the living room) One modification I did make to make it look more period correct was to install one of those vintage type British license plates on the front fender, commonly called a "pedestrian slicer" I highly recommend 20w50 full synthetic motorcycle oil, changed every 2000 miles after break in. Yes it's expensive, but this is not only a 1950s design engine, but it is not nearly as well made as it could be. I changed the oil and filter 4 times with cheap conventional 20w50 oil before 1000 miles to get all the crap in the engine. I now have 14K Miles on my 2013, and have not found anything in the oil since before 1000 miles.
The bar end mirrors are like marmite. Some love them, others hate them. Thanks for the advice on oil. I’m changing much more regularly than the manual suggests. All the best 👍🏼

I do love the taillights so much better looking. I never liked the stock ones either
Thank you! Some like it, some don’t but I’m happy with it. I’m changing the indicators for Lucas style next, which are smaller and metal rather than plastic 👍🏼
It is a bit of a granny magnet, but you could be the new ‘cool’ 😎
Maybe the RAF blue or Army green carry a bit more street cred. All I really know is once you’ve ridden one you won’t care what anyone thinks. Your stupid big grin will look sillier than the bike 🤪
Wonderful maintenance
Thank you! I love this bike, and will always take good care of it.
Lovely looking and sounding bike.
Thank you! Yes, I’m smitten with it 😊
Beautiful bike. Great video. Good sounding bike. Thank you.
Thank you very much sir! You have a lovely ride there yourself. Be safe!
Stunning bike if not totally my cup of tea (I must be too young haha)
Bikes are a personal statement and nothing says personal more than owners modifications. If you think they improve your bike that's all that really matters. Oh and it does sound gorgeous I agree with the builder chap
Thank you! That’s exactly how I feel about it. I’ll make the builder a cuppa tomorrow 😊 thanks again 👍🏼
I have a question
Is Chrome Require more maintenance? I lv this color and soon going to buy so plz suggest
Hi, it shows the dirt more than regular paintwork. But it’s no harder to clean/polish. 👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 thanks i m afraid bcoz mostly people says that hard to maintain, easily scratch show on Chrome. But i lv this color. So I m finding how to maintain 😋
nice modifications, however I think the bike is AWESOME anyways, even right out the box
Thank you! Yes I have to agree 👍🏼
That's a very nice looking bike
Thank you very much. Yea I’m smitten 😊
But will keep the chrome mounting.
think the chrome plate hanger looks great i take ownership of 1 in december last few coming in from india
Hi, thank you. It seems to be a bit marmite, but I like it obviously.
Ah lucky you! Well done on securing one. I hope you get as much enjoyment from it as I do mine.
Lovely in every way .... Except for the bar end mirrors ! What on earth ? !!
david jay thanks, ha I like the mirrors 😊
Très très belle moto....et les améliorations sont belles et de bon goût,so britich,.😉😀✌️🇨🇵
Merci beucoup 🙏🏻
I’m sorry but I understand very little French 😪
I like the tail light a lot better. It doesn't look like a cheap afterthought like the stock one does.
Thank you sir. Opinions are divided, but of course I like it too 👍🏼
Man big thumbs up that is a nice nice bike sounds great also I would be proud to own something like that that is really nice keep safe catch you later
Thank you very much MrG. Stay safe out there. Look forward to your next video 👍🏼
Love the brake light
Thanks! I prefer it to the original 👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 And if you want to change the number plate, The Missenden flyer has a nice suggestion. He has changed it on his interceptor 650.
@@vernonpaes2053 I’ll see if I can find it, thanks for the suggestion 🙂

@@vernonpaes2053 thanks again, found it. I’d like a black plate but will settle for a smaller one.
Nice tidy bike well done
bsa trials guy I thank you kindly 👍🏼
Lovely bike! Enjoy!
Thank you! 😊
I’m planning on selling my Daytona and having one of these and nothing else. I’m regressing and want to smile again!
I had a quick go on a Daytona and loved it. The Classic 500 continues to deliver the most smiles though 🙂 Best of luck!
When you fitted the silencer did you need to adjust the Throttle Position Sensor to give a slightly richer mixture?
Michael Pearshouse no I didn’t. As I understand it, no alterations are required. The plug is a nice colour, so it’s a good sign it’s running ok.
hi saddlebags looked for the chrome number plate on hitchcocks couldnt find it have you a part number by any chance thankyou
Yes you can find a link in the video description, that should take you directly to it.
@@Saddlebags73 thankyou
@@brianbottomley7000 no trouble at all. Any problem with the link just let me know.
yes thankyou for your help saddlebags brilliant link
It was a surprisingly loud solid thumping sound!! Very fulfilling!! I never expected it... sadly though, such loud exhaust is banned now here in India 🇮🇳...
That's a shame. It is louder than the original, but not so loud as to make it unsociable.
I have kept the original exhaust in case the laws change here.
All the best!
@@Saddlebags73 I own a 500 c.c. stealth black. Your bar end mirrors look awesome and inspired me to replicate it on my 🏍 . In searching mode now for similar mirrors...
@@sujoydasgupta2774 very nice choice in ‘stealth black’ 👌🏼
I got my mirrors on eBay. There is a link in the description if that helps.
@@Saddlebags73Many thanks!! I'll check it out and let you know...
@@sujoydasgupta2774 you’re very welcome! 😊
I think by removing headlight cap and installing low seat, it look’s much better
I am too tall for a low seat 🤷🏻♂️
What a view..
Amazing roads..❤
When u ride the royal enfield chrome in sunny days won't the sunshine reflect to ur eye???
You would think so wouldn't you. But it hasn't been a problem up to now thankfully 😀
One of the most beautiful bikes ever made. Sadly the 500 is no more.
I couldn’t agree more. Yes, a great shame to see the end of production for the 500’s. I very much doubt the new 350’s will have the same character.
Many thanks 👍🏼
nice exhaust notes ..
Thank you! It’s just right I think. Nice pop without being too unsociable 👍🏼
Looking good 👍
Hello! Thank you sir. Take care out there 👍🏼
Its a dream bike...
🙏🏼 It really is 👍🏼
Linda essa Classic!
Thank you 😊
@@Saddlebags73 Classic is Indian but has English DNA, right? Regarding maintenance parts, is it easy to find them in England?
@@etarruda1972 Yes that’s right. And yes parts are easily obtained from RE dealerships or Hitchcocks motorcycles online 👍🏼
What handlebars are those? Link to the bars pls?
They are the original bars. A few people have asked me that. I'm assuming there are different bars fitted in some places.
@@Saddlebags73 okay. Generally india its not the case. Most REs here are different infact the colours are different too hence the confusion, but thanks for your reply. You have a beautiful machine there.
Thank you very much. Yes I’m smitten with it 😊
No worries , I'm just over 6ft 1,so I needed a taller man's perspective on this bike, remember the other 2 are shorties LOL
Haha it's fine for folk of normal height such as ourselves 👍
Handle Bar name / or colour paint code pls i want repaint own 500 with this colour pls kindly share info paint code
The handlebars are standard. It seems to be what they come with in the UK.
I’m afraid I don’t know the paint code. It’s chrome/graphite if that’s any help. Sorry I can’t help more.
Really does look nice, looks 'proper'. 👍 (shame some scum have left litter on the roadside to the left of your bike).
J Boy thanks, tiz proper you 👍🏼
I know, it’s disgusting isn’t it. All too common sadly 😞
Great vid. Haha 😂 yep as im watching this Im just buying (more) stuff from Hitchcocks…awesome service but aye aye omg the dosh…
Spend spend spend 🥴 It’s hard not to isn’t it.
Thank you 😊
Nothing wrong with a big tail light. But that license plate is a barn door.
Joe Pasco one of those things I’ll get around to 😊👍🏼
What is that equipment on left hand side on handelbar
raj bundela hi, it’s the control box for heated grips. I know it looks out of place on the bike, but it’s almost a necessity for riding in the winter here.
@@Saddlebags73 hi ,by this control box you can heat the grips
@@Saddlebags73 can tell price and if you have like of product , send me
There are different makes. Mine are ‘Oxford’
You change the grips and connect to battery. They are excellent when it is cold.
Here is an example, but there are many

i used to hate bullet engine color which is silver or chrome.... now i know why i hate it....silver engine color looks better and awesome with silver color chrome color tanks fenders.... color combination other than this..looks awkward ...silver engine red black grey green looks ugly and inappropritae....your bike is just looking the best royal enfield classic i have ever seen

Wow
Thanks 😊👍🏼
You've done a great job. The only stupid thinks the stupid oversized license plate of your country. They should make them small like in the US.
Thank you very much! And yes, I completely agree. The ghastly shade of yellow doesn’t help either 🙈
whats the seat
The seat is standard.
Did you not fit the dna filter
No, standard filter. Do you think there’s much advantage with the dna?
Nobody likes an unsightly joint ...
Haha precisely 🤣
