- It's another edition of "Randy's Corner" as we set about installing a Screamin' Eagle 511 cam. Having done a bunch of research on cams for the 2024 Harley-Davidson touring bikes I decided to go with the SE 511 cam which provides excellent reliability, keeps me in warranty and delivers very solid power. We had a great time in the garage pulling this all together and I can't wait to ride this thing!
If your cam has higher numbers, please keep your comments to yourself. I don't care ;).
Strong ,reliable , OEM power . Probably what I would do also. Great looking bike!
100%! And thank you!
You had me at accoutrements… 😂😂😂
@@ProfessionalMonkey 🤣🤣🤣
Gosh that was funny as heck recalling the next guy you tell what cam you ran with, he’ll be quick to say he’s getting 5 more HP! Lol!! Hear that stuff ALL the time, who cares! I just want the cam that fits my riding, lends to a great lope, a great sound, gives me great low and mid torque, my bike is still rideable, when I need to pass, bam I’m gone and back into my lane safely, and I’m happy. Enjoy the upgrade bro!!
@@DeBa1226 That’s it man, get a cam that fits your ride style. It’s not all about torque and tight t-shirts 🤣🤣
Yall did a great job. The bike sounds good. Time for a wash lol 😂
@@kellybgliding Thank you! It rips!
Enjoyed the video as usual! Loved the explanation of everything. I'll have to check out the 511!
@@ChanceTheGlider It’s worth it! I love it.
Love this motor, easy to work on the power from cam, A/C and exhaust is amazing. Sounds great too.
@@HD-touring The M8 is a rockstar motor.
I put that cam in my bagger.. kicks ass 👍👍hit sub button..running thunder header slip ons … 🔥🔥🔥
@@Bagrman-kt1ot Nice!!
Everybody needs a friend like Randy.
@@HDMisfit1 100%!!
@ love your channel! Keep it up !! Your review in regards to the 511 cam is what I needed. Thank you 🙏🏻
@ Awesome and thanks!
Randy is da man
@@jasonmeyer287 Yes, yes he is.
Nice job guys
@@ErnieGill-sy3iv Thank you!
Engine looks great! Blood brothers. lol
@@2147crew 👊👊👊
Thanks for the video. Good job
@@jimweagant8920 Thanks for watching!
Awesome man, can’t wait to hear your ride review on the new cam. Been seriously considering it myself. I do have question on why you didn’t go with the high volume oil pump?
Because its not necessary at this point. If I do more power work down the road then I'd probably add the pump.
Great video! Do you have the HD part number for the cam kit? I’ve noticed two stage two kits, torque or power. 2024 Road Glide. Thanks!
Another great video. I was watching some of your older videos. The ride from the middle of Colorado to Grand Cannon up into Utah. I have so many questions. My family wants to take this ride. I s there a way that we can talk some time about that trip?
@@Kennymolyneux Absolutely. Shoot me an email.
@@FullTankAdventures I'm sorry but not sure how to do that. Is that through RUclips
Great video but a question where did you get that box for the rear ?
@@jeffvansickle5168 We built them.
Great vid.
Is the 511 the best cam that won’t void warranty if installed by dealer? I want torque vs hp.
My dealer sells S and S merch. Would their cam void warranty?
@@brandonnickerson8934 Yes it is. It’s got a really solid torque curve.
Matt, do you know what cam is in my 2024 CVO ST?
I asked Harley Davidson North Scottsdale here in AZ if I could install that SE 511 Cam and they told me only if I do the Stage IV 135 kit.
@@OnyxCVO It’s a version of the 511 cam.
@@FullTankAdventures I looked everywhere and could not get an answer, thank you so much. Love your channel thus far.
Subscribed. Are you the marketing director for Harley Davidson?
I have seen you in so many other youtube videos at rallies and lending bikes out.
@@OnyxCVO Not a director but I do all the RUclips partnerships for H-D. Helping creators out with their content.
@@FullTankAdventures That is awesome. What a cool job. Looking forward to your channels growth. Thank you for the reply. Cheers from AZ Matt.
@ Thank you sir!
Did you upgrade or change anything mechanically besides the cam and pushrods?
@@scottpatey1252 No, it’s not necessary
Thanks wasn't sure if the clutch needed anything
@ The 511 cam is right down the middle and very good power (estimated 120hp/130tq) without needing any of the other parts. Now if you want to go for some crazy numbers then yes you’ll want to do a few other things. But for me, I wanted to get into the 130’s for tq but still be very comfortable touring. I’ve got the extra juice but it’s smooth. My last bike I had the S&S 475 cam, which was an animal but not great for touring. The 511 cam is the best of both worlds IMO. But that’s just me, the key is to know what you want and how you want to ride. The power numbers are not the be all end all like everyone talks about. Unless you want to make a t-shirt with your hp and tq so everyone knows what you got 🤣🤣🤣
I'm with you my last bike was a 114 with SS 475 cam. Too Loud, too rough, sounds like you hit the sweet spot with the 511.
@ Absolutely, sounds angry when I twist the throttle but idles smoothly for touring.
I like Cam Nights 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Are you ythe marketig directr for Harley Davidson?
Did Randy sell his bike during the intermission? :)
@@ShutterUp 🤣🤣🤣. Sadly it went into storage for the winter.
Does that cam work with the stock valve springs?
@@jsimanella Yes sir! The stock valve springs are solid.
I dont think you retain the warranty if the cam job was done outside of harley dealership
Yes and (potentially) no. He’s using OEM parts, but installing himself…so if they say you screwed up a part of the install, they can and more than likely will deny a claim.
Cam install and Warranty Delete all in one video 🤣
@@canadiankrispybacon But fun was had!
I have 24 road glide and is stage 2 right now. My old bike made 119hp and 129trq from fuel reaper 472 on 114" engine but it was a Ultra so much heavier for sure. I debating on just going 511 for awhile and then switch up later down the road if I want more. Because would be nice to keep warranty for the whole 2 years before voiding it
@@CodyMcDonald89 That is exactly my train of thought. And the 511 will get you better numbers than that 472.
I'm curious how many thousands the dealer would charge for this.
Around $1500.
Your gopro wouldn't die if you just got to the point.
@@argonunya5585 Merry Christmas to you as well!
Winter lol 😂 what's that, move south ride 365.
@@blsrulz I need to. It’s -2 here today… 🤮
More like about 110 hp
@@johnfeeney6637 if you’re going to hate, at least be right. The bike comes stock with 105, I broke 110 with an air cleaner and slip ons. The 511 cam is over 120hp.
@@FullTankAdventures I just had this done at the dealer you're both wrong 117hp and 130Ft pounds and yes it was on the dyno and all screaming eagle parts. NOTE you did void your warranty by installing it yourself. to keep factory warranty, you have to have the dealer install it.
@ Every dyno is different. I’ve seen 120-125. But either way I’d rather have the torque. Anything above 130 is perfect!
@ChadPass That is not true. Dealer install is NOT required to maintain warranty. If your dealer told you that, they are wrong. Find a different one.
