Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!
Once’s again great tip Jake thanks
Thanks Hank easy on the sweets eh especially during this festive season. And i really did not do anything in this video except complain in my comment.
Thanks Henry, happy new year!
A bevel only goes across part of a surface. A chamfer goes all the way across.
A wrench with an enclosed end (box) and an open end is a combination wrench.
Box end and sockets tend to round off the heads of hexagonal fasteners if the tools are 12-points. If you think there’s a chance of rounding off, always better to start with a 6-point if you can.
(For all your newbie tool users out there.)
😉👍🔧
Good point made Rein but i will still call it a bevel on the ID of a socket simply because there is no end to a circle for a bevel to stop LOL.
@@waynestefinashen239 😉
Great tip. I had bought an inexpensive set of wrenches and have already ground the open end thinner to help tighten/loosen double nut scenarios. I will now be grinding the box ends to get a better purchase. Keep up the videos. Thanks
With the recent snowfall, instead of starting problems, my neighbour and my son both had drive wheel problems. Just coincidence or is that how it goes. Once the machine runs properly, the next that goes is the drive wheels?
When the snow is heavy and wet and you do not stop (auger always turning) to allow the snow to clear you will burn up and auger belt and the drive belt is put under a lot of stress and likely starts getting what i call burnished (shiny but not burnt) this will eventually lead to some slippage. Additionally, if the auger belt has been changed and it has an old drive belt this is also an issue. We suggest to all our customers that we change both belts even if the one not needing change looks visually ok.
Always one thing after the other Anthony lol next it'll be belt issues!
Good tip for cheap tools. Certainly wouldn't do this to some snap on
Absolutely, which is why I mentioned that. I have so many craftsman/MasterCraft tools here to choose from.
I agree
Good tip. I've been doing this for years. Blessings as you remember the birth of Jesus today.
Amen brother! Happy holidays, wishing you and the family health and prosperity!
ALWAYS gets a thumbs up from me...........HUM, wasn't aware you could buy sockets like that
Yea new to me, thought I'd share!
Nice Tip Buddy. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
finally someone who sees this huge industry failure... every socket and most wrenches i have are modified...
TIP>> get a scotchbrite de-burr wheel for your grinder to "finish the sockets" ...
Really good tip, Merry Christmas and Happy new year
Thanks, Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you too!
This seems great, got to try it on a stuck break caliper bolt, thanks!
Nice video tip Jake, I hope you and Mr Wayne have a Very Merry Christmas too my friend. 🌟
🎄
Thanks John, happy Holidays!
didn't know they sold the "flat" sockets/wrenches...i do have a number of cheap sockets /wrenches that I have ground off.... Merry Christmas to you also
Thanks, happy new year!
If you are in a pinch, I'd say to do this. Just don't be upset when you try to return these tools on a warranty claim and you are refused a new tool.
Buy the proper tool to do this. Likel you said, there are plenty of sockets and wrenches made without that bevel and there are already thin wrenches on the market.
I'm not one to modify a lot of tools by removing material.
I have so many wrenches it was really no big deal but yes I definitely wouldn't do a whole set unless I got them for that purpose
Sometimes using the metrc lower but closest can deal with some slippage like 14 mm on a 9/16. Learned that over 20 years ago n a gm water pump.
Yes it may but in my case the 10mm 3/8 ths made no difference used the 3/8 ths bold extractor
Merry Christmas Wayne and Jake.
I've done the "grind" job to many sockets and combination wrenches over the last 50 years.
Awesome, merry Christmas!
Thank You kindly! Way less smashed knuckles!!!
Merry Christmas 🧑🎄🍀🙏 & A safe New Year 🇨🇦

Arch, check out our latest video. I did a review on the light the old man was telling you about!
Thanks for the video. Merry Christmas my friend
And a Happy New Year to you and your family
Happy new year Rick!
Excellent observation! I’m in the process of refreshing a 27” Craftsman blower. Exactly one of the issues giving me grief. Couple that with the rusty threads and then you have to get out the grinder. I will be implementing that solution promptly! Now I see why they are asking $5 Cdn per bolt to match them to replace. Gimme that anti seize and regular carriage bolts. Any clearance issues are solved by some more grinding at $0. Happy New Year! I’ll be looking for some Boxing Day socket & wrench deals.
Thanks for watching and good luck. Happy holidays!
That's a Cool trick ! Thanks
Thanks for watching
Use a six point socket also!
That does help increase the bite
How's she goin'? I have busted my knuckles many times because of these shallow headed bolts and chamfered wrenches and sockets. This tip will help a lot!!! Thanks and all the best to you and your crew in the new year!!
Goin good Grampie and we know what you mean about the knuckles buddy.
Happy New Year
Thanks Grampie, happy new year
Another great tip. Hope you guys have a great Holiday Season!
Thanks Ken! Happy holidays!
Merry Christmas to you and Mr Wayne. Stay safe over the holidays. Rick
Trying to, happy holidays Rick!
And while you are looking for a cheap set of combination wrenches to grind down and narrow, buy a long needle nose style locking pliers (vise grips) to narrow down as well. Over the last 30 years I think I have used the vise grips I narrowed more than the wrenches to grab a hold of rusted, corroded, corner rounded fasteners that were hidden behind something else.
A word of caution: Do not buy the cheapest pair of locking pliers. You do not want sideways slop between the jaws once they are narrowed. Work slowly with a container of water near by to keep as much heat as possible out of the jaws so that you don’t start drawing temper from the gripping surfaces of the jaws.
Good idea and spot on the quality is the most important thing when buying any tool. Normally that quality comes with a higher price tag but in the long run it is money well spent.
Yes they're always good to have, thanks for watching!
All good helpful info as usual. Best Wishes from the UK.
Happy New Year and thanks for watching
Nice tip
Thanks Maxi
Nice job there young man 👍😎 on this matter of the bevel of the socket and the open box ended wrenches
Thanks for watching!
@@EliminatorPerformance your welcome young man 👍😎
Merry Christmas to you Jake your my only channel that i sub to that i did not send this Christmas message to i totally missed it. This video is a few days late for me. When i was removing the access plate on i believe it was the PowerSmart the panel bolts where thin headed and two would not come out with the socket so i had to use the bolt extractor to remove them. Your tip in this video was right on and would have solved my dilemma . At first i thought i was using the wrong socket, nope just not enough surface area contact due to the bevelled edge. Good video sir!
Thanks for watching, and Merry Christmas and happy holidays. EP wouldn't be as successful without you boss!
Funny Wayne LOL
@@henrymurawskibigdogrepair he does have a funny side! 🤣🤣🤣

Happy New Year to you and your family, thank you for watching.
My Socket Wrench stopped retracting the other day and now i have to keep taking the socket off the nut after each twist. It's annoying and I'll have to pay for a whole new one if I can't figure out how to fix it so it retracts again. 🎄🔧🔩🤷
You can take them apart and lubricate them. There's a small gear and a clip with a spring. The clip is probably stuck!
@@EliminatorPerformance Oh really ? Ok i'll see if i can get it apart and hit it with WD-40 or something. Thanks for the tip !! 👍
