I didn't recognize the ancient blade as the ancient arrow tip from botw, so I fused it to a sword. It broke in one hit and deleted a Lizalfos. Took me a second to realize what just happened.

I thought that the ancient blade could work since it’s a one time use item like the fruits and mushrooms. But then I read the weapon description; bursting materials. And clearly the ancient blade doesn’t burst, it…..vanishes? Warps? Just…not burst.
The forest dweller effect only works with natural materials that burst, so fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, and flowers (but not bomb flowers). I think the two most useful fuses are dazzlefruit or ice fruit. Puffshroom on a shield is also pretty nice
Maybe it's a purgatory like Maz Koshia's ethereal realm. They are forcibly sent to a dimension constructed of their own memories, forced to fight Link over and over.
Forest Dweller weapons only recycle _organic_ items that would normally be used up when used. Chuchu jelly, Muddlebuds, Puffshrooms, the various elemental fruits, etc. Gibdo Bones, Ancient Blades, and other undead or mechanical/mineral one shot items are still used up as normal.
The first thing I tested was gibdo after that failed I used chu jelly types with them exclusively. I assumed that’s what it meant by materials that burst which is the actual in game qualifier. I decided that meant explode out of liquid or gas. I also tested octo balloons and they don’t work

The winbirst disrupts the combo you want to kill you enemy with. But...what about ice? Naydras Horn? Freeze, then blow. On one hit I want to know if it works. That's...constructs blown off of sky islands. Silver books blown into the water. So much usefulness.

If you fuse it to the Master Sword, it's far better. Because no item fused the master sword is technically part of the weapon, but some sort of energy attachment that adds an attack bonus. The Ancient Blade lasts for more than one hit in this case. Try it out for yourself.
Yeah I didn't realize the ancient blade could do that, so I ended up instant yeeting the blue lynel in the coliseum and it took me a second to process what happened.
I honestly did not realize they break after one use so I initially stockpiled abunch of them and fused them to all my strongest Zonai weapons only to come to the heartbreaking realization when I tired to use them on a boss.
The forest dweller weapons only have multiple uses for plant based items. (Puffshroom, Fire Fruit, Muddle Bud, etc.) The only exception is the bomb flower, only allowing one use.
Do the korok weapons work with chuchu jellies? Cause if not, it could be that they only work with PLANT based elemental items. That would kinda make sense from a lore standpoint; the fruits are grafted onto the sword, and grow back each hit. The most useful thing ive found you can fuse with the korok weapons are *dazzle fruits imo. They kill entire swarms of stal enemies in one hit.

To be fair, it wasn't actually a dumb idea. It was actually a fairly reasonable assumption given the nature of the forest dweller weapons. Probably would have tested it on a more substantial enemy tho.
The issue is that the ancient blade is not a "bursting" weapon, the forest dweller's weapons only work if the item thrown creates an AOE effect basically. This doesn't include bombs.
When I first saw forest weapons I tried fusing like 20 things to them, including an ancient blade. They all broke and disappeared and I’m never getting one of those weapons again.

Ive only used the ancient blade once so far. Floating colosseum, beat 4 lynels, out of stuff, 5th lynel shows up, and I go "yeah, not dealing with you" and thanos'd him.
ancient arrows only were useful in BOTW where need to pass master sword grand final test. But back in that time I did not know those arrows can one shot enemies. So I killed those Lynels in old fashion way ;-;

I was hunting lynels because that was just my pastime back then, and I decided to use an ancient arrow on the silver lynel. I just thought it did a lot of damage and nothing else i guess. I knew they occasionally teleported, but i also knew it didn't look like the deletion that had just occured, so my exact thoughts were "huh? That's not supposed to happen :( Maybe it'll come back?" Imagine my dissapointment when it didn't come back and I didn't get to kick its ass for the fifth time that day.
The ancient blades are like the funniest thing ever, it's even funnier that how they work isn't really elaborated upon other than that it's just ancient technology. Like imagine these being real and when you're stocking your quiver one slips and cuts your finger and you just get instantly obliterated. How'd they even figure out how to do this.

The shield doesn’t have the same effect. And why would you fuse an ice fruit? It has to recharge in only one hit.
