107: Limitations on Exclusive Rights - Fair Use:

This is the only thing that I really didn't like in the movie.
The Addams have always been extremely accepting of everyone's tastes, even if they personally disliked them. In each and every version of them, the parents always approved of the kids exploring outside of "creepiness" and trying new, more normal, stuff. This form of two-way bigotism is a good morality at core, but I think very unfitting for the characters. It was one of their biggest and nicest quality.
yeah, with how the Addams family is written this movie feels like a typical 90's "Let your kids be themselves" story with a goth filter. very superficial, and exactly the just of story the other residents would just eat up for halloween.

Are we just going to forget the entire episode from the original show where pugsly gets a puppy and joins the scouts and Gomez and Morticia freak out? Don’t get me wrong, I think it was weird how they handled it in the movie, but the Addams have always been hesitant of their kids exploring this sort of thing.
@@tinkerblunder5150 I remember the episode you speak of, the 1960s one at least. I remember that while the family was appalled they never freak out at Pugsly. They worry and pray it is only a phase, they seek advice from a psychologist. Funny misunderstandings ensue...
Things like Morticia having a problem with Gomez inviting his mother over for help, and Gomez not realizing that she didn't like him asking for help feel like lazy sitcom shenanigans. "Oh the husband is an idiot but we love him!"
I would've loved to see Morticia instead embrace Gomez and thank him for thinking of her so much. It should be touching that he is worried about her, not embarrassing that he said she 'looked tense.'
The Addams are meant to be accepting and unconditionally loving of one another's decisions even if they don't always personally agree with one another's decisions. Morticia reacting so negatively towards Wednesday here is way out of character.
Not to mention the bitterness between Morticia and Gomez. What the heck was that? That’s not how they roll… they have always been madly in love
To be fair there was something similar in the original Addams family with pigsty getting into the scouts
They didn’t seem that way in the Wednesday show
This is made for a younger more realistic audience but keep crying not everything is the exact same as you remember it😢😢

I liked the 60's Addams Family where Pugsley was a rocket expert and Wednesday was a sweet little dancer.
I really miss the versions that differ from the 90's Reichie version of Wednesday, like don't get me wrong, the 90's films are fantastic, but people act like it's the only version that counts.

But personally, the only character who looks nice with that inspiration in mind is Morticia (Gomez also looks alright: he seems to resemble his comic counterpart the most)
Wednesdays forehead is really huge compared to her design in the comics afaik, and they really squished Pugsley's facial features downward, which also makes his head look pretty huge (but I do prefer his design to Wednesday's)

The designs in the comic look fine, they do what they're supposed to: the ones in the movie are a mixed bag and look pretty different to the designs in the comic as a result of altering and translating the designs into 3-D
Tuned in out of curiosity because I hadn't seen this movie yet. It turns out that I didn't miss anything.
I wouldn't throw the baby out w/ the bathwater; It could have definitely used some more polish but it's got it's moments. Don't like... clear your Friday evening to watch it with friends...but if you're bored some night after a long shift it can provide an hour or two of amusement.
Yea. Morticia is way out of character. Heck, a lot of the characters are, but hers is the worst
It's got a few good gags and the character designs are based off the original comics, but the move does miss the mark on what made them so enjoyable in the first place.
Honestly my favorite versions are still the original TV series and the 90s movies, where they were a loving family who didn't realize just how off-putting their dark tastes were to everyone else.
Gomez would never say something like this about Mortitia!!!

Honestly, most of the voice cast for this could have easily done an amazing live action version: Oscar Isaac as Gomez, Charlize Theron as Morticia, Bette Midler as Granny Frump, heck, Finn Wolfhard and Chloe Grace Moretz could have done the kids well if they'd been made up just right (Probably not AS the kids of Isaac and Theron though).
Yeah tbh Charlize would make a great Morticia, she already has the cheekbones lmao

Green Onions By Booker T and the MG's, it was in the American Graffiti soundtrack when they have the race between the hotrod 55 and the 32 Douce Coupe, and it was also in Grand Theft Auto in 2004 on the Master Sounds Radio Station, granted there it got ruined by the DJ's Commentary just before the song got started however.

I always wondered why they always change Grandmama relation to Addams family, in movie from 1991 she is Morticia’s mom but in TV show she is mother of Fester and Gomez like in this animated movie.
In the original TV show, Fester is actually Morticia’s uncle. He was written as Gomez’s brother in the 90’s reboot to make his absence/reunion feel more significant to the family.

@@盧璘壽로인수 Yes, that's why the Addams family is a god family dynamic because Gomez loves Morticia's mother almost as much as Morticia herself and she lives with them which wouldn't occur back in the day. Wifes were suppose to belong to their new homes and kinda abandoned their old one. So they were unconventional in that sense, making them a progressive and modern family since they rejected conventional traditions.
