I use unwanted shampoo to clean makeup brushes, sometimes I'll soak the bristles in a little olive oil and then use the "bad" shampoo to wash them and they come out like new!
I'm afraid of that thing! Put it in my hair once and then I couldn't get it out. I bought a pack of like four oh, and they're just sitting in the drawer because I'm afraid to use them again!
@@cherylanne6549 aw that stinks. I have had that happen to me too, but that was my error. I was wrapping it too many times trying to get it real tight.
A tip for CG conditioners that are too thin for you hair - use it as a lightweight leave in conditioner. Perfect for summer or fine hair, I’ve used conditioner as my leave in for a while and I wouldn’t use anything else.
The best hack I learned from you is mixing the curl cream or leave in with the gel. Not only it gives my curls a defined frizz free look but it saves a lot of bucks. Moreover it reduces the amount of product build-up as I'm using a 2 in 1 product. Thus I need to shampoo less. It's a great money saving and also curl saving hair hack. 😘😘
Aditi Mukhopadhyay 🤯🤯🤯 as I am currently diffusing my hair I’m sad I didn’t read this about ten minutes ago to try it! Can’t wait to try this for my next wash day!
Other people probably do this, but I have curls that tend to just collapse with any pressure and my hair is pretty long. So, when I pineapple my hair at night, I loosely secure the ends with a couple claw clips to prevent myself from laying on them. It works really well to make it so I barely have to wet my hair to refresh in the morning. I have always used my toilet to plop my hair! My bed is too tall for me to effectively do it. Glad I'm not alone! :)
I do the claw clips, too! Having my hair in a loose bun like that also exposes less of my curls to friction (even on a satin pillowcase). For me, it's an all-around fix. 😉
You look so beautiful, so glad to see you healthy and smiling ❤️❤️ My must do’s are: My hair is similar to yours, I’m a 2B to 3A depending on what part of my head you’re looking at. I Use flour sack towels. I get them in packs at target for cheap. They are better than microfiber or a t shirt for me. I now put a little leave in when my hair is soaking wet and squish it in, then I plop for about 15 minutes. THEN I do my routine. I have been getting MUCH better clumping like this than when I was putting all my products into soaking wet hair. I finger coil now and it’s been a game changer. I now have fat glossy ringlets after finger coiling and diffusing. Before I would have an occasional ringlet and a bunch of stringy pieces. You just have to make sure you twist your hair in the right direction. Your hair will tell you. If it is the wrong direction it will untwist itself. Finger coiling helped decrease the amount of stringy pieces that try to ruin my life lol Lastly, my hair likes to collapse on itself and while it’s very poofy and volume isn’t an issue, root lift is. I started using bounce curl hair spray at a few spots and then I use a clip to lift my roots and this stuff is super strong. You have to be careful not to use too much. I spray a small amount onto my finger or a comb and put it at my root and then clip. My roots stay lifted all day like this.
I normally style my hair in a middle part and when is dry I put it in a side part to get volume, I think is the only "hack" I do I feel it works great when I try to style it in a middle part how I like it it doesn't have any volume, but if I do it this way it looks great
I try to do that but then I have curls that are determined to stay in an awkward spot sticking straight out or something. I’m new to curly/wavy hair so I haven’t quite figured out how to change a group of curls that’s already dry 🤦🏼♀️
@@elexis3728 if you side part your hair try flipping your hair from side to side so that it learns to dry both ways. I mostly keep it to the opposite side then the one I wear because it creates more lift. I try not to use my hands to make the parts, just throw your head over to that side and let the curls fall where they like. If I air dry I keep it to one side for 15 minutes then flip, wait 15 minutes then flip back. If I defuse I flip it and defuse the roots from both sides
Conditioner/hairmasks/creams I do not want in my hair: I use them in my foot bath, makes the feet very soft and easier to remove dead skin. I also put them on my super dry calves in the shower. First I wet my body, apply conditioner - at the end of the shower I scrub/wash off the conditioner. Has totally removed my dry desert-looking skin. :-)
Thank you Susie! Great video, as always! To add to one of your hacks: When using things like "isitcg" or "curlsbot" to check and see if a product is CG approved, I only type a few of the ingredients (if I can't copy and paste the ingredients list from somewhere), then check. If it's CG at that point, I'll add the next few ingredients to the box, and then check again - I've wasted time in the past typing them all out only to find that one of the first ingredients was the one that wasn't approved!
Wonderful list Susie! My hack is when I do not want to spend time the next morning with my hair, I shower/style and put loads of gel in my hair and diffuse but do not scrunch out the crunch. I have fine/thin hair and it actually does well when sleeping in the 'crunch' then scrunch out in the morning. It does add time to the evening, but saves loads of time the next morning.
Another way to use up shampoo (or soap) you don’t like for your hair is to use it to clean the toilet. I clean with the Flylady method and so I “swish and swipe” my toilet everyday, so it never builds up too much and any soap helps keep it clean.
My hack: instead of using the little hair clips, which I am unable to remove without ripping hair out, I just use a big butterfly clip to help create lift while my hair dries. I clip it across my natural part while my hair dries.
Oooh, gotta try this next... never thought of that. I stopped clipping cuz of how challenging it is to get those lil clips out without destroying my clumped ringlets & creating unnecessary frizz.
I use my leftover pre-CGM shampoo to clean the tub. It does a great job on all of the oils that collect from my deep conditioner. I have stringy ends almost every day. I comb out the ends with my wet comb. It looks like the Denman brush does a better job. I think I’m going to have to get one of those. Your son is adorable.
I have 3 hacks! I've tried devacurl products and they are just too lightweight for my hair. I looooove Cantu products that are just too heavy. I use the leave-in conditioner and the curl activator cream. I just mix each one with water in a spray bottle and spray my wet hair with them and they work great! Not too heavy, not too light! My second hack... I love the LA Looks extreme sport gel but I tend to be heavy handed 😆. I squeeze it into a little 4 oz bell canning jar and then just dip w fingers in and spread it in my hands to 'pray' it into each section of my hair! I get a light crunch the scrunches out really easy with my 3rd hack... I scrunch the crunch with fractionated coconut oil sprayed into my hands.eaves my hair super shiny and super soft!
Your channel is seriously a game changer! I have been doing the curly girl method for years but I feel frustrated often about how complicated it can feel. I am a single, working mom of three young kids and I need easy. You’re the best! Your accent is also everything 😘
Анастасия Хмара well....it’s called a joke, you should look that up sometime. Secondly, the comment (or joke, as it were) was directed at people who disliked the video. So, unless you hit the thumbs down button, my comment wasn’t referring to you. Glad to see the Internet is it’s usual incredulous and offended self. (That’s a joke, too, by the way).
@@Anastasia-ze8bl she's not saying people with straight hair can't watch the video, she was poking fun at the people who disliked the video. idk for sure, but I don't think that includes you. if it does, you gotta admit it's a bit ironic that she was right.
So I tried the “styling cream” hack and it worked amazing, but I faced a bit of a problem on my end. My conditioner and gel didn’t react so well together which caused the gel to flake. So a quick tip would be to actually test it before applying it on your whole head of hair like I did 🌝 I’m hoping it’ll just flake off as I scrunch later 🤞🏼
LOVED this video! So helpful. I especially liked the hack for using shampoo as bubble bath. I never thought to use leftovers I don't like as soap, but it makes so much sense. I also use the hack you mentioned for volume, too. 😆 Another hair hack I've used for wash days where my hair doesn't turn out right is pulling all my hair up into a ponytail and pulling out a couple of curls that look okay to frame my face. With clean hair, it ends up looking like a ponytail I actually tried on rather than a third-day ponytail I'm trying to use to cover greasy roots.
If you want to do the overnight curls but your hair takes decades to dry normally, let alone in a t-shirt all night, use a mesh wig cap to plop your hair!
a lingerie wash bag (the kind you toss in the washer) works well too. I've also heard you can wear it while using a hairdryer if you don't have a diffuser.
you're refreshingly pragmatic, real life and explain thing so well. thank you for being someone i like to watch and gives actual, simple, helpful tips :) and i love the website!! oh my goodness, i would've never known that existed! it gives so many great pointers about the ingredients as well! thank you thank you!!
I take my cheap little thrift store bathroom heater, put it on the counter with a bunched up t-shirt in front of it. I let my hair fall onto the shirt like I was going to plop, put the heater on Medium heat, close my eyes and sneak a few more minutes of pretend napping while the warm air gently dries my hair. The heater hits a bigger section of my hair, so I don't have to keep moving the dryer around, maybe only turn my head once or twice. I have seen other people do this as well, especially in a thread about how bending over to dry your hair is hard on your back.
I got my strainer at the dollar store. I have the Black Orchid diffuser, but it's really large to travel with, so I travel with the strainer and it works great. Plus you can use those little hair dryers at the hotel and not have to bring your own. Works out great all-around.
Cheryl Anne, I have the Black Orchid, too, and I admit that it’s cumbersome for me. I feel like my arm isn’t long enough! But I’m super pumped because I have an “OXO” brand strainer that will work great! I plan to give it a test drive tomorrow.
I bought a t-shirt material head wrap from Amazon. I love it because I am pretty uncoordinated and I don’t have any “old” t-shirts. The head wrap has an elastic loop that fastens around a button. Just like a t-shirt minus the arms.
I actually do the overnight thing every time I wash my hair lol (didn't know Dana Marie had a video on it but I love her!). I have always preferred to shower at night and I started doing that in college.
I am one of those people whose hair suddenly turned wavy/curly after I had kids. I’ve had no idea what to do with it for years. I tried various methods that I found on the internet but nothing really seemed “right”. I always ended up with stringy, flat, or crunchy/frizzy hair. The PRAYING HAND TECHNIQUE!!! WHY had I never heard of it before finding your channel?? It’s a MIRACLE! It’s exactly what I needed to incorporate into my routine. Thank you thank you thank you!! My hair is SO PRETTY now that I haven’t even been tempted to turn on my straightener for days! Thank you :-)
Loved your video! I use that strainer one quite a bit since I’m a college student on a budget and haven’t gotten around to buying a diffuser yet. One hair hack that I’ve recently started doing is finger coiling my curls when it’s soaking wet. It’s really made the transition period a LOT easier to manage.
I've been doing the conditioner-as-shaving-cream hack for years with conditioners that I don't like! It works really well :) I guess the only other things I do are steaming my hair in the shower rather than spritzing it with water to refresh (I've tried both, and found the shower works better) on 2nd/3rd/4th day hair. Also with a gel that I found dried too sticky on my hair, I've started dilluting it a bit with water before applying, and it's working out great so far. It doesn't give strong hold, obvs, so won't be a good hack for anyone who likes their gels to form a super hard cast, but for my hair-type (2c/3a, low porosity, medium density, medium thickness) it's fine.
Hey Susie, I use my 5 prong scalp massager to apply JBCO and rosemary oil directly to my scalp. I find trying to get oil directly onto your scalp instead of alll over your crown hair is tricky. So I dip the little ends in the oil so it gets strait onto my scalp and start massaging. I started the CG method May 2018 and was making great progress but over Xmas for some reason I went thru a scary and massive hair shed, to the point I reckon I lost half of my hair. I put it down to a dry scalp as it was always so itchy. Oiling my scalp just a little every night has almost completely stopped my excessive shedding. 🌹❤️
Great hacks! Cleansers and shampoos that didn’t work for hair are great body washes. Discovered that the middle drawer of my bathroom vanity is the perfect ‘ plopping spot’ 😌
Awesome tips! I got the Xtava diffuser and it was the same diameter as my old hair dryer. Fortunately a tip I found online was to get a 2” rubber pipe coupling at the hardware store. The metal clamps around it kept it firmly on. Also I saved the CGM products I was trying at first that I thought were “too heavy” and now I rotate them in. The SM hibiscus cowash was one of them! I add Suave clarifying and 3x water to my foaming hand wash pump.
If there are any European curly girls that, like me, are obsessed with the Xtava Black Orchid diffuser but are looking for a blow-dryer that will fit, I got in stores to try it and the "Calor Pro Signature moteur AC" (CV7833C0 if you want the exact reference) works like a charm without having to remove the inner ring ! I love this diffuser and the blow-dryer is really nice, unlike my previous one, the first warm setting isn't too warm to be blasted on my roots and there is a cold setting on top of the cool shot button. (Plus I got it for just under €40 which is pretty affordable in my book)
This made me re think my stash. I’m now using Alikay Naturals Totally Twisted LOC Butter to moisturize my dry, winter hands. This is fantastic! It was a bit too heavy for my hair but is lovely for my skin.
Loveeee your video xxx. Little hack- if you are lacking volume at the roots, a bit of dry spray shampoo in the underneath layers, rubbed in gives loads of volume 💕❤️💕
I use old shampoo (with sulfates) to clean the bath tub. Works great! Cut hair elastics from pantyhose or tights. Just snip across the leg, making circles. They are easy on hair and easy to take out.I'm loving Cantu Curl Activator and Cantu Define/Shine Custard right now. When I don't have time to wash my hair (or have 2nd, 3rd, 4th day hair) I just wet my hands, add a tiny bit of Curl Activator, rub it together, and run it over my hair with praying hands. I might do this 2 or 3 times depending on how frizzy or flat it is. It redefines my curls wonderfully.Use a hair pick under curls, on scalp to fluff up hair when it's flat.I LOVED your curly hacks today! Thanks.
i diffuse my long hair till its 70% dry and then plop it in a hair net over night, that way it dries so much curlier because it takes away the weight :) i also put a claw clip on the top of my head to lift my roots when im drying because im too lazy to put in lots of small clips, it works great!
Too many reasons in this video why I have loved your channel! You're realness being right at the top! Just laughed out loud at you with the kitchen strainer on your head. I would totally do something like that if I needed to! And I also plop on the toilet! But your notes and the way you described them cracked me up! There was one too many arguments about the sticky, slippery trail I left dripping down the hallway leading from the bathroom to the bedroom, which is how I began plopping on the toilet myself! Seriously Susie, this video made me smile just seeing what a departure it is from your end of January video where you were so very sad. I'm glad you're healing and getting back to life a little bit! ❤️ I hope your new computer is working out much better for you too! Look at you at almost 60K subs already. You've earned every one! Cheers! 😊
Love this vid! The other thing I do with conditioners that are meh is just mix a little bit into my spritz bottle. Sometimes I make a spray that nappyheadedjojoba has a vid on, but often I just use water with a tiny bit of conditioner.
Using the strainer right now as I watch ur video 😂 I have diffuser but I find using a big stariner reduces frizz upto great extent. Also I use my non CG shampoo to wash my make up brushes and my dog's towel as its milder than detergent. You can also use it to clean bathroom after washing hair, it will get rid of slippery floor and you are not wasting your shampoo
I'm new to the CGM method that's why I still don't have some tools to use for my curly hair, but what I do when the top of my head is kinda flat is I use a chopstick to gently lift the roots. Btw, thanks for this video I learned a lot! 😊❤️
One hack I use is sleeping in a gel cast pineapple versus the overnight curls method I always sleep on a satin pillow case so the cast pretty much stays in tact
I always plop on the toilet! It just made sense to me. I used up my shampoo to clean my makeup brushes and sponges. I use conditioner that i don't care for mixed with water as a refresh spray on day 2 and 3.
I do plop on the toilet, right out of the shower! I heard if you put the plastic coily hair band in a cup of hot water it'll snap back into shape. Thanks for the new video!
Haha! I plopped on the toilet as well. I stopped doing that though as I put my styling cream in shower and then gel in the room. Not to make dropping path on the floor, I put reusable shower cap over my dripping wet hair ;)
Just a quick note, the invisibobbles youre supposed to rotate the ones you use because they can go back to their original shape as long as you dont overuse them, so i use 3 and roatate them so they dont stretch :D
Dominika Łabędź interesting, I'll have to try the rye flour. I've read it helps with hard water too, which my shower filter can't seem to fully filter out (very hard water in my city).
Thanks for the hacks...love the one about the styler...conditioner added to my gel should work great for keeping my curls refreshed on 2nd and 3rd days.
Listening to you repurposing products reminded me when I fist came to live to the US I had no idea you could return products from the Macys cosmetics counter and absolutely hated the face wash I had bought. It wasn’t cheap, I didn’t just want to toss it in the trash so I ended up using it to wash my toilet and clean around stuff 🤣 My house smelled so luxurious
Another hack for those of us with shorter hair. Sometimes don’t have time to clip so I diffuse with one hand and use a pic with the other to life the roots and give some underneath lift by directing the flow where I need volume
I wondered if you had any tips/videos on safe hairstyles to wear when you have to put your hair up? I’m a nurse as well and I have to get it away from the face while at work. Thanks for all of the tips!
Hey, I thought you were getting a new diffuser for Christmas! I had quite a few non-curly girl products sitting around gathering dust for the past 8 months. I heard from someone that our local St. Vincent de Paul resale store accepted used products for resale so I packaged everything up and off it went. Made me feel good that I didn't have to throw it away since I spent so much money on it. I put my bath towel on top of the toilet seat and then put my t-shirt on top of that. Thanks for the tip about using the Denman brush for those crinkly ends. That brush has to be good for something, right?
I stopped being strictly CG. The products that are CG are usually quite expensive, and... nah, I don't like it. I did however find a CG mask last time that was silicone free from none other than Garnier Fructis. It is called "hair food" in Belgium, and "treats" in the US. I had the banana one and it is *super* moisturizing. And the banana one smells like heaven! I just finished my tub, and will repurchase, once I get through my stash a bit more. ;)
Marleen G. I’ve been happy to see other more affordable brands going curly girl friendly. Aussie and not your mothers have both released new and reasonably priced lines for curly girls. I recently tried the NYMs gel and it’s just as good as more expensive CG brands
@@jasminevelasquez4225, I know but we don't have those brands in Belgium (EU). For us it is very tricky to find silicone-free. Garnier Fructis recently came out with a mask "treats" (called "hair food" here) and that is a nice one, a heavy one but a nice one. I just finished a tub and it is worth it. I think I paid about 6 euro for it, and I got 6 uses out of my 390ml tub.
Marleen, have you tried Nature Box? It is from Schwarzkopf, sulfate, silicone, paraben free. Here in Slovakia, they sell it in many shops (Notino, Carrefour, drugstores). Also, Timotei has Pure shampoo collection, it is SSP free, not sure if it is available in BE though. But I cannot find defining gel CG approved 😕 I very well understand what you are talking about, there are so many brands in US to try and they also have cheaper options. Sure, we can order from Amazon, but shipping to EU is ridiculously expensive.
Another way to revive a stretched invisibobble (The coiled hair bobbles) is pop it in a bowl or mug and pour in some hot water. It almost instantly restores back to normal.
Hi. I just checked a product on isitcg.com and it told me it was cg approved. I then checked the same product with curlsbot.com and it picked up the silicone, which isitcg didn't do. Maybe it's best to use both websites to make sure. It's so disappointing to buy a product and then come home and find you cant use it. Especially if you are on a tight budget! Otherwise, I love watching your channel and cheers for the handy hacks! Thanks!
Can you do an updated curly girl products video? I have bought a lot of products that someone said was curly girl approved but turned out not to be. But I do trust you!!
Ok my curly hair hack- 2months into the cg method & with 2c, 3a, 3b + 3c hair; which is naturally red but a month into method I got carried away and bleached and toned my hair up to a cool light light blonde. 3 haircuts later I'm v Marylin monroesque and my curls are coming back. MY HACKS ARE- 1- AFTER I PUT MY PRODUCTS ON, I LOSE A LOT OF DEFINITION AND VOLUME. I RUN BOTH HANDS UNDER THE COLD TAP AND SCRUNCH BACK THE CURL INTO THE SIDES AND BACK & TURN HEAD UPSIDE DOWN AND DO A QUICK SOAKED SCRUNCH ON TOP FOR THE CURL AND VOLUME BACK THAT I LOST APPLYING PRODUCTS. 2 - when my products are almost finished, well my leave in cond and curl creams- anything in a pump or spray bottle- I add cold water, shake and go! Also great Howard's. For example water in a bottle with a dollop of deva cond if u need to spray during bad weather... greetings from Scotland x
I have 2a hair and the Shea Moisture conditioner you showed is actually my favorite :P I use it as a cowash and also as a final conditioner after I've deep conditioned and shampood. I also plop on the toilet! My bed is not the correct height to plop on so I've always done it that way :)
Your hair is looking extra curly then past videos looks great I'm new so I've watched past videos because I'm trying to love my curls after straightening and blow drying after years!!!
I’m not generally a gel girl becuse my hair is so fine I feel like it weighs down my hair too much while it is drying. So I typically just use a cream styler (Deva Curl Supercream or Wave Maker). However if I need a touch more hold, I wait till I am nearly done with diffusing and THEN I take a large coin size amount of gel mixed with a dab of water and scrunch it in my curls and then finish diffusing till fully dry. Then I take a dab of oil and scrunch the crunch. I get the hold etc.. from the gel, but after my curls have had a chance to form with out the gel getting in the way. BTW: I use a medium/ hard hold gel (level 8 LA Looks green curl gel). Has worked brilliantly for me.
OHHH good idea! I also have fine hair but I put my gel in after my leave-in conditioner and curl cream. Diffuse and scrunch. I'll try your method of adding during the diffusing stage.
I've gotta try this for my fine winter curls. Any weight just kills them, even creams (though I've recently discovered they work great for refreshing for me) . I've been playing w mousses again for that very reason.
I have fine curls, too...I notice ppl use so much product but I've found I can't use that much. And so many conditioners are for thick curly hair. I wish there were more lightweight options for us. 🤔
@@kw9299 I so hear u on conditioners. My fave conditioners are jessicurl's aloeba, giovanni's root 66 max volume. Aloeba I can use as a leave in even in soaking wet hair. Giovanni's direct leave has also been working out well. Suave clarifying & Vo5 conditioners work in a pinch as rinse out conditioners. I've heard really good things about As I Am's leave in & it's on my list to try along w Curls blueberry bliss leave in. Kinky curly knot today I have to rinse out thoroughly but I've found it's a good value cuz it takes so little to do the job for me.

We use the not-so-loved shampoo and conditioner as a gentle wash for wool sweaters, hats, and socks. Sheep have curly hair too!
Soaking in conditionner can help soften an itchy sweater too
A sock over the end of a hair dryer makes a passable diffuser in a pinch!

Liv Turøy as a fellow dry skin sufferer thank you. I need to try this
Thank you Susie!
Wish I could give this an extra thumbs up for Wilson! He is precious.
This is genius! Im gonna try this
Another way to use up shampoo (or soap) you don’t like for your hair is to use it to clean the toilet. I clean with the Flylady method and so I “swish and swipe” my toilet everyday, so it never builds up too much and any soap helps keep it clean.
I clean my toilet every single day too!! Which is funny because I’m not a super clean/organized person.... I’ll try the shampoo next time
My hack: instead of using the little hair clips, which I am unable to remove without ripping hair out, I just use a big butterfly clip to help create lift while my hair dries. I clip it across my natural part while my hair dries.
Sorry, I meant Hack, not back!
Oooh, gotta try this next... never thought of that. I stopped clipping cuz of how challenging it is to get those lil clips out without destroying my clumped ringlets & creating unnecessary frizz.
Ella Call I hope it works for you! 😀
The four people who gave this video a thumbs down must have stick straight hair. How sad for them.
Haha
I personally enjoy watching Curly Susie but I have pretty much straight hair. And there is nothing sad about it, Jennifer
Jennifer Castaldo every joke has some truth, you know
@@Anastasia-ze8bl she's not saying people with straight hair can't watch the video, she was poking fun at the people who disliked the video. idk for sure, but I don't think that includes you. if it does, you gotta admit it's a bit ironic that she was right.
Another hair hack I've used for wash days where my hair doesn't turn out right is pulling all my hair up into a ponytail and pulling out a couple of curls that look okay to frame my face. With clean hair, it ends up looking like a ponytail I actually tried on rather than a third-day ponytail I'm trying to use to cover greasy roots.
I’ve been shaving with mine too! I’m good on “shaving” cream for a solid year or two 😂
Haha I have so so much "shaving cream"!!
If you want to do the overnight curls but your hair takes decades to dry normally, let alone in a t-shirt all night, use a mesh wig cap to plop your hair!
Would not have thought of that--thanks!
Curly penny does this!
Interesting idea! I’d like to try this with a hairnet. Do you use a microfiber towel over your pillow to pull the moisture?
@@kilroyscarnivalfl Never thought of that but sounds like it might be worth a try
a lingerie wash bag (the kind you toss in the washer) works well too. I've also heard you can wear it while using a hairdryer if you don't have a diffuser.
You're looking wonderful and vibrant. Hope you're feeling good.
you're refreshingly pragmatic, real life and explain thing so well. thank you for being someone i like to watch and gives actual, simple, helpful tips :)
and i love the website!! oh my goodness, i would've never known that existed! it gives so many great pointers about the ingredients as well! thank you thank you!!
Use old “shampoo” as hand wash, I add veg glycerin or olive oil for moisture and it works great and no waste!
Melissa Lepper I do the same, it works great & saves $
Thanks for the tip of adding oil! I've used shampoo as hand soap before, but it dried out my hands.
No one commenting on the cutest little blonde boy looking directly into the camera and stealing all our hearts? 💖
The strainer idea is absolutely genius!!!
Terry Hendrix it is!
It doesn't give strong hold, obvs, so won't be a good hack for anyone who likes their gels to form a super hard cast, but for my hair-type (2c/3a, low porosity, medium density, medium thickness) it's fine.
have you ever tried using a teapot to steam your hair? it's much easier
🌹❤️
That's a super good idea
Cherie O great tip!
That sounds amazing
I just started my natural curly hair journey....loving all the info in your videos😍😍😍
Me too it's very interesting.
Love your videos! You laid-back personality, accent and practical advice is the best 😊
Great ideas for using up unloved products! I feel guilty wasting them. Thanks for the tips! 😊
Brushing out the end of your curls is an excellent tip. Never thought of doing that but it makes a huge difference...thank you so much for sharing.
Before watching the video, I need to say what went through my mind a few minutes ago😃Debra Messing. You look like her.💕 and...I need that Biotera gel😻
Omg your little guy is so adorable!
You can also put your plastic hair ties in a cup of hot water. The hair dryer may be quicker... good video as always Susie!
That’s what I do for my plastic ties as well
Loveeee your video xxx.
Great tip!!! I also clip with a claw clip :)
No hacks from me, just exprressing the joy of following your channel - you give great advice in your films.
Love from Aarhus, Denmark
Hi, I'm Brazillian and I just have to say that your English is so easy to understand, you speak so clearly ❤️
Cheers! 😊
Those coil elastics also shrink up if you run them under the hot faucet.
I love the denman tip! I just brushed the ends only, it worked!
Such original tips and tricks!!! Will try a few of these, great way to use my unloved products!!! Brilliant stuff.😉
One hack I use is sleeping in a gel cast pineapple versus the overnight curls method I always sleep on a satin pillow case so the cast pretty much stays in tact
I use a jacko-net when I plop my hair overnight after washing it. Helps with the drying time, because it has little holes in it :)
I always “plop on the toilet”! 😂
I’ve never thought about shrinking my hair ties back down! Genius!!!! Going to try it tonight!!!
The hair clip bump is my go-to when my hair comes out flat, too!
I always plop on the toilet! It just made sense to me. I used up my shampoo to clean my makeup brushes and sponges. I use conditioner that i don't care for mixed with water as a refresh spray on day 2 and 3.
I have dry hair, but very oily at the roots...I'll have to try the shampoo on roots/conditioner on ends trick. Great idea!
I do plop on the toilet, right out of the shower! I heard if you put the plastic coily hair band in a cup of hot water it'll snap back into shape. Thanks for the new video!
Thanks for the tips! You can also run your coil hair tie under hot water for a seconds to reshape/shrink them :)
Haha! I plopped on the toilet as well. I stopped doing that though as I put my styling cream in shower and then gel in the room. Not to make dropping path on the floor, I put reusable shower cap over my dripping wet hair ;)
You always have something new. Thank you very much.
Just a quick note, the invisibobbles youre supposed to rotate the ones you use because they can go back to their original shape as long as you dont overuse them, so i use 3 and roatate them so they dont stretch :D
I wash my head with rye flour with few drops of lemon juice - I find it much better than any co-wash and it's very cheap :)
I love that! haha
Another hack for those of us with shorter hair. Sometimes don’t have time to clip so I diffuse with one hand and use a pic with the other to life the roots and give some underneath lift by directing the flow where I need volume
Oooh another great one to try. I gave up clipping... my results were too inconsistent
I'm trying the strainer hack purely because you dropped a "luh" at the end of it!!! #newfoundlandcurlygirl
@@ZuSim, I am not sulfate-free. And not that much into natural products either; yes I know they're out there.
Another way to revive a stretched invisibobble (The coiled hair bobbles) is pop it in a bowl or mug and pour in some hot water. It almost instantly restores back to normal.
Especially liked the stringy ends hack!!
Thanks!
Wilson is soooo cute with his little snacks!
Can you do an updated curly girl products video? I have bought a lot of products that someone said was curly girl approved but turned out not to be. But I do trust you!!
Thank you for the video of the toilet plop demo! I haven't been able to get it right until now.
Oh my gosh! Wilson! 😍😍😍
You are so Generous with your sharing!! My hair is three months in to looking great. Semi-perm color has made Huge difference. Can you share how you get unstuck in life? 🤗Love&Hugs🤗
Am sending you HUGS. Try to remember that You are the Master of You, and you can't change anyone other than yourself. So take a step to the side, a deep breath, and move on. You got this. You can do it. I believe in you. I know you can, 'cause I did. 😉👍👌
I plop on the toilet too! Lol, it works great. I have a diffuser but I almost want to try the strainer just because 😊
U can also put those coil hair ties soaking in hot water and they’ll shrink back up.
Great video, thanks Susie for the very useful info! Love the hacks on what to do with the shampoo and conditioner that I don't love.
Glad I found your channel! The OgX line ruined my hair...it feels like hay! I just bought the Deva Curl products
Great video as always 💕 Your little guy is absolutely precious
Love these! That's strainer idea was a great one!
Love some of these ideas - definitely gonna use some of them...
9:17 you can also pour really hot over it in a cup, you don't even need the water to be boiling
I got really crazy curly when I got in my early 30's. Now I have all the SYMPTOMS of it being dry tho I do condition with lord knows how many products I've tried, & none has been a KEEPER routine yet. From inexpensive to higher end, this girl has probably tried it. What is some of the best that works for any of you???? I do LOVE Tigi After The Party leave in.... HELP!!! I do wind up pin curls still sometimes but with bigger snap clips..easy to sleep on!!!
