Easily a classic masterpiece of the fighting game genre. Everything was so well balanced. Animation, game play mechanics, the classy hiphop/rnb/club music and the overall feel.... it's just timeless.

I’m not saying vf4 is bad, just that third strike is in my opinion a bit better because it makes you think about things in different varrying ways, and gives you the ability to do so intuitively. Most other fighting games are very hard to get into the thinking bits, but sf3 makes you hardwired to do this in no other way ive seen a fighting game do. There's a reason why when you play third strike for a bit, then go to take a break, you physically WANT to go back, like your body is going back with out even thinking.
My favorite of all the Street Fighters. Call me crazy but I like that SF3 has no characters from SF2 except for Chun Li and Akuma. That is the tradition of SF. When a new SF game comes out you get a complete new cast of characters so the game can stand on its own two feet. The only character from SF1 that made it to SF2 was Sagat.

SF 3 hands down is a great game, but I was disappointed they didn't add the the old school characters like Dhalsim on there. Dhalsim vs. Oro would've been a great fight! But Capcom make up for it on 4 and 5!

I grew up playing SF2 and its derivatives including all the pirated ones lol. SF3 Third Strike is by far the chillest interpretation of the game. I have never bothered playing 4 or 5
4 is quite good. It has a certain SF2 "feel" to it. I never played 5 and 6 though. But 6 seems to take a lot of influences from 3rd Strike (this game.)

I sort of kind of get what you're probably saying. In the Street Fighter ll games you can basically say the characters look more life like and realistic. The Alpha series (and of course SFlll games but still sort of combines the realisticness with the cartooness looks) looks even more cartoony like. p.s. - Street Fighter lll just continued to do what SFll did combining the SFll with certain SF Alpha mechanics. Because it looks just as "cartoony" but still a bit more realistic compared to Street Fighter Alpha games as pretty much how the Street Fighter ll games displayed themselves.

Muscles like that will actually make your striking less effective, and you don't get to keep all of that into old age - but you can, keep all your flexibility and technique memory in your muscles. For these reasons, traditional martial arts doesn't go past carrying water buckets, or using wrist/ankle weights i.e. while practicing technique. 👌

When I go back to this game it always surprises me how great it still looks, 20 years on. The art style is beautiful. The 3d art style of the newer games are so ugly and horrible.

Got this on PS2 on Street Fighter Anniversary Collection, spent $25. That's money well spent on this and Hyper Street Fighter II Anniversary on that compilation. Every now and again when I go to the Play N Trade I bought it at, I'll play the Sega Blast City candy cab they have there with this, another Blast City with Super Puzzle Fighter II X (both the Japanese revisions too), along with the 4 player Turtles in Time cab. Needless to say their cab collection is small, but kicks ass.
Same here ...used to play this after smoking high with buddies at a cigerrete smelling bowl ally back in the days...these 2 super asian dudes that were probably in their early 20s with colored yellow hair and shit that were sometimes there uses to whoop our ass with players like Yang or Oro or some other random ass character ..we were either Ryu Ken or Akuma..
