Awesome tutorial, man. Finally, someone that actually breaks these techniques down step by step, and doesn't just expect us to already know half the moves. Much appreciated.
That just means they have more skill than you. Nobody said getting your ass whooped was fun. This portion of the game is like a chess match, just like real BJJ is. This is equal to striking, as it is a science in and of itself. If someone is continually blocking your transitions, mix it up, or don't get taken down....
***** i'm actually decent at this game i'm like rank 6 about to go to 7, I don't mind the BJJ at all in this game it's fun and even the occasional transition block is fine but I hate people who spam this feature and make the game unplayable it's just a cheap way to fight they need to have a certain limit to these transition blocks in UFC 3 or else it just because a back and forth block feast which sucks
the grappling is the worst part of the game, you can get an amazing wrestler like Daniel Cormier against someone with a shocking ground game but they can get you off them so easy.
Not going to lie, I'm glad I subscribed. This is such an underrated channel, I could never stop them on the ground before. Now I know the trick, it seems so simple. Thanks man, keep doing your thing. ;D
Bro I've always been a fan of UFC games and UFC in general but I've ALWAYS had trouble blocking transitions. This video made me become ALOT better. I was 2-7 when I first saw this video, I'm 24-7 now in ranked. You've helped a lot bro thank you!
my ground game was good but this now made it just that much better with my gerco mid weight guy. It's not that the game doesn't tell you this but they don't break it down as of you were in a real gym or just a thorough guidelines on each individual discipline which is why your serious is very well done.
Thx my friend I will. Have a great weekend. Join my ufc fantasy league if you have a chance just comment in your prediction on the Evans and tEX fight and the Khab fight ;)
Hey Rickey J I like how you showed us wich buttons to push and exactly which way it makes it simple. love your vids and keep it up. P.s your Nate Diaz impersonation is awesome
Awesome toturial, i was only understanding the groundgame half-ways, and I was allways confusen by what direction to push. This helps alot with understanding how to dominate! :D
I'm confident with my Stand up but my lowest point is clinch. Right now my Ground is improving and I almost nailed a submission. I never knew how useful they were even if you don't land them. Thanks. Subbed and liked
Awesome shit man!!! I have the biggest issue with blocking the transitions lol.I think though finally I am starting to understand it from what I seen in this video and my friends have told me.Thanx man, just saying.
Fantastic tips; just bought it and I've been playing career the past few days and I really don't know why EA left out any tutorials like this; it would be great if for the first few matches they showed you prompts when you could deny and tell you to look out for them, the same with parries (great video on that too by the way). Subbed and I'll be checking out your other videos.
Can you do a video showing the different cues of what they will do to stop the transition. this part of the video was amazing as i never knew when to try and block the transition. if you can, con you do this for top game, off the back and seated position please. it would make the game far more understandable
Ricky quick question is it better to hold r2 when waiting to defend or do it all at once when oppent is trying to transition? thanks keep doing what you're doing
Great channel! Quick questions....When you are denying transitions you hold R2 - and do you flick the stick? or hold the stick in the correct direction? ---and when preparing to attempt to defend do you personally hold R2 while waiting (or between punches) ,or just hit R2 when you see his attemt begin? ty. i watch your vids almost every day since i got the game a cpl months ago.
I always seem to be too early when defending. But after being in practice mode I realized I was pressing the triggers hard enough lol. After that it worked.
can you just hold r2 the whole time??? or do you have to let it go in between defending transitions?like if I get taken down can I just keep r2 held down
omg I'm so happy so many fuckwits making videos all the same saying click r2 and your opponents position wtf does that mean this guy actually explains it im so happy thanks keep it up
I'm confused? Are you already supposed to hold right trigger before or just hold it when he moves and flick it? Also sometimes when I defend transitions it'll not work and just vibrate help please
Do you think that it's easier to transition and reverse in real life? No? Okey, well this is a simulator so why should it be easier than real life? You get to view your opponent in a broadcasting perspective and real fighters have to reverse during headlocks and strikes against their head and body. Learn the transitions and then use your head. If you're in side control, 8/10 times they'll try to get to Half guard (a.k.a. move towards the side your character leans on). If you're facing a good stand up guy, he'll most likely try to reach top mount and finish you off. That means that he will be leaning on one side in half guard and try to move to the other side of your body. If you reverse that transition you deplete like 40% of his stamina which is basically a free transition for you. It's a long learning curve but it really isnt that hard to get a hang of when you understand which positions do the most damage.
***** Since I made this comment I've gotten a LOT better at ground game. I know all the transitions (when to block, the timing on when to get a transition and even knowing the specific special transitions each fighter has). I would say I'm better on the ground than on my feet. Thanks.
+TheWarriorz1979 They don't want to make the game easy I guess. But I agree I wish they had that in a real fight. Sometimes you just don't know where to go.
+Ricky J Sports It rarely works for me. Not sure why. I played a quick game with my friend to practice. He was telling me which direction he was going to press and it still rarely blocked. Don't know what is going on.
When I'm in top mount sometimes I'll block when someone grabs my leg but then they push me up and I try to block but pushing right analog down but they seem to always get up, any tips?
Amazing tutorial, thanks Ricky!
+Joey Ong thx big guy!
Ricky J Sports use sakarauba please hes a amazing dark hourse
The game itself needs a more robust tutorial. Something interactive, not a screen by screen explanation. How can you learn grappling by *reading?*
+FrankGarrett316 yeah I agree it is way too confusing, that's why I wanted to make this videos.
Awesome tutorial, man. Finally, someone that actually breaks these techniques down step by step, and doesn't just expect us to already know half the moves. Much appreciated.
thx i got knocked out in 23 seconds
lol sorry to hear that man!
Lmao
😂😂😂
You still lasted longer than aldo
Laughed like a mf at this lol
This is the absolute worst part of the game
if you figure it out good other people will think that and you will be winning
GingyDaSpaceCat it makes the game no fun when playing with someone who spams this.
Carlos Villalvazo yea thats true
That just means they have more skill than you. Nobody said getting your ass whooped was fun. This portion of the game is like a chess match, just like real BJJ is. The same can be said when I have Demian Maia and I end up fighting some Lawler spammer.
Ricky J Sports you may actually be the best You tuber providing essential tips for UFC 2. Keep on doing what your doing bro I appreciate the help.
thanks Mikey! you rock man!
Not going to lie, I'm glad I subscribed. This is such an underrated channel, I could never stop them on the ground before.

Bro I've always been a fan of UFC games and UFC in general but I've ALWAYS had trouble blocking transitions. This video made me become ALOT better. I was 2-7 when I first saw this video, I'm 24-7 now in ranked. You've helped a lot bro thank you!

+Sbrff Thanks man I really appreciate it!!

Ricky quick question is it better to hold r2 when waiting to defend or do it all at once when oppent is trying to transition? thanks keep doing what you're doing
It doesn't sound all that complicated now that I watch the video. Going to try it out tomorrow, thanks! :D
Do you hold the analog to deny or just "flick" the analog for less than a second? I keep getting conflicting views. Love the videos, thanks!
Finally getting my hands on this game later, I'm sure this has helped a shit ton already without knowing it! thanks.
+OT9LoL hahah good luck man! Let me know how it goes!
thank you ricky!!!! you got a sub keep it up!
+bhgordie thx gordie you just made my day!! Tonight I will be releasing a video on how to do a flying arm bar lol should be fun. Thx for watching!

Jesse thx for your support!!
Lol @1:08 go left on the analog not right
Is this true? I honestly don't know.
It is true, you should go left as his body is trying to move left.

How do you strike and block transitions at the same time? I've seen ppl do from top and bottom.
great video thank you
anytime gary you are the man!
what an amazing video, finally someone explaining in a simple way! thanks bro
Maximus Von hugendong anytime dude!!
I always seem to be too early when defending. But after being in practice mode I realized I was pressing the triggers hard enough lol. After that it worked.

I will be a complete master now lol thanks brother
I'm confused? Are you already supposed to hold right trigger before or just hold it when he moves and flick it? Also sometimes when I defend transitions it'll not work and just vibrate help please
THANK YOU BROOO ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This a eazy tip for half guard it only depends on the side you go if you go right you go left for r2 analog left
thanks for this!
This video helped a lot haha I beat a friend that always played stand up
Is there a timing? It's already hard enough to see which direction they're going and now you have to time it? Is there a good way to practice this?
Do you think that it's easier to transition and reverse in real life? No? Okey, well this is a simulator so why should it be easier than real life? +Brandon Cosme anytime my brother!!!!!!
Thanks bro simple to the point , can't wait to add this to my game style . I have 57% win percentage I think this will put me to mid sixties minimum.
+Kyle Hike good luck kyle! I think you can do it man!
You the real mvp man
+QuietBoy Malik Aww thanks man you made my night!!! Where are you from?
+Ricky J Sports maryland
cool brother! I am from good ol Toronto!!
Is there timing with this? I seem to try but I mess up, do you have to do it right as he pushes your leg? or when you see the hand on your leg?
As soon as you see him move, also stats come into play as well as just timing.
Is it better to flick or slowy hold it to the direction im a ground master i know every transition just sometimes blocks never happen.
+Lol Man flicking is better
Is it always R2 or can it be R1 (like if they push your head if that's a thing)
Great vids, why do you need to hold R2?
I guess that's just how they programed the game. thanks a bunch man!
+Ricky J Sports I mean can't you still do it without R2 because I think it still works?
I don't think so but let me know if you can without holding r2 I hold r2 because it says that in the tutorial lol
+Ricky J Sports when I hold R2 it just vibrates. not sure haha
ur helpful fr me thanx man
+Thegamer SHHIMHERE anytime man!
Nice one brah
+cavi10 Thanks a lot big guy!
awesome video
+brandon martin thanks Brandon, have an awesome day!
do u hold the analog right/left or just flick it???
+Paulie Vandy its kinda like a flick :)but you have to hold them together
great vid !
Why is it that in a real fight it won't say 'Defend' in the grapple HUD when they try to escape or transition, but in practice mode it will?
+TheWarriorz1979 They don't want to make the game easy I guess. But I agree I wish they had that in a real fight. Sometimes you just don't know where to go.
+Ricky J Sports Exactly, I'm always picking the wrong side to defend
Is it tap or hold the right stick
do you hold the analog stick or just flick it?
+Eric Hernandez I kinda just flick it. :) You gotta be quick Eric!
OK thanks. What's your online I'd so I can kick your ass?
+Ricky J Sports It rarely works for me. Not sure why. I played a quick game with my friend to practice. He was telling me which direction he was going to press and it still rarely blocked. Don't know what is going on.
thanks coach!!!
+Rell anytime big doggy!!!
Okay I'm off to try these tips!
how did it go josh?
Still need a bit more practice reading which way to move the analog stick but definitely much better! Thanks bro!
No probs man!
thanks Ricky :)
+vitor jose Anytime Vitor ;)
When I'm in top mount sometimes I'll block when someone grabs my leg but then they push me up and I try to block but pushing right analog down but they seem to always get up, any tips?
