“Damn you, Aiden, you make it look so easy!” That’s what I say too when I practice with flex pens.
Thank you for the time it takes to make this review. Once again it’s not nothing. You answered all of my questions in a concise manner which is so refreshing.
Another excellent review.
I’m not a flex nib person myself….just love writing with my fountain pens too much to slow down. Curious….if you were retired, do you think you’d become more of a flex nib user?
Could you please share how it compares to the MB 149 calligraphy/flex model in your opinion? Perhaps it's time for a new modern flex shootout :)
I was looking at Joost's site, and the Dark Hawaii is offered in #6 steel, #6 14k gold and #8 (gold?), so I think you could put a #8 on the pen you are reviewing in this video: the diameters of the nibs are different, but if the nib collar is thinner on the #8 than on the #6, it should, in theory, fit in the same pen. Just a guess; nothing scientific.
3 colours really appeal to me: Blu Marina Capri, Sand and Coffee.
Does Joost have the nib tuned and smoothed before sending you the pen, or was the writing sample with the nib straight out fo the box, please?
Yes, you ‘need’ a nr8 nib from Leonardo! Great character, they all write terrific, like in my experience is the case with all the Leonardo nibs. Steel, gold, #nr 8; all perfect nibs and perfectly tuned out of the box.
Excellent and informative as usual. Thanks
Could you consider shoot out between LMZ Grande Pistone and Scribo Feel?
I second that! A Leonardo elastic nib vs a Scribo
Yes please :)
How about a "shoot-out video" between the Leonardo and a Pilot Heritage 912 with FA nib and an ebonite 2-slit feed? May the best overall flexy win!
Which do you think is the best modern flex nib? Leonardo, Scribo, Aurora, ASC or another brand?
Yes, this review is useful and well done as always. Thank you. Somehow, every time you said, "pistone," I heard "pistoLe." In the beginning, I had to turn on the closed captioning to catch what you were saying. I am sure this issue is eccentric to me. I don't know if I will spring for this pen. The basic pen's cost is okay, but I consider the upgrades danged expensive. Santini Italia have piston fill pens with gold nibs for around 300 Euros. That strikes me as a better deal, nevertheless, I shall seriously consider a Leonardo.
By the way, I do not own stock in Santini Italia! Just a satisfied customer.
I am wondering if the MZG is preferred to the Mosaico. Both are piston fillers.
the Mosaico is a Momento Zero Grande as well. The MZG differs a little over the editions. The Mosaico has a different section. But the base is about the same as the MZG Stephen showed here.
hello, i remember i have once commented about the chant in the intro. i can not find it on youtube. if you have the whole record, could you post a link? thank you in advance :)
I think he discussed this in one of his videos some years back - unfortunately I don’t remember which one. If I recall correctly he said the singer was Damien Poisblaud. Maybe search for that or also “Les Chantres Du Thoronet”
Why don’t modern pens flex like vintage pens? I always hear it but never hear why...
niche product within niche product, not enough demand plus the gold used is different nowadays I heard. To be fair some nib misters do custom works based on Jowo which are pricey but looks very good, and then you have brands like MB. Going vintage is certainly a lot more cost effective tho.
Some might think that it’s better to spend 60€ on a used Waterman with a 14k gold flexy nib rather than 240€ for a new pen with a steel „flex” (wink wink) nib. They just might…
What model do you recommend?
@@scriveinonda Look for a flexy nib, sifferent nibs were stuck on different Waterman models in 1920-1950.
@@bw6230 I have lots of vintage gold flexy nibs. Any particular pen you'd recommend?
Leonardo Momento Magico ? It's not a Grande, but it does has a ink window.
The Magico is the only pen in their offering which appeals to me, as it represents the best elements.
@@archivist17 It really is a great pen. I think the appeal of the MZG is that it's bigger, but the Magico is really in the sweet spot for me, size-wise. And it has the ink window. All it does is win.
