  • My version of the camping Chuck Box using RIDGID Tool Boxes! These tool boxes are great for a variety uses. The all-terrain wheels make for easy portability over all types of terrain. The boxes have heavy-duty metal latches and an integrated water seal to protect against water and dust.
    Sizes I use:
Large Box w/wheels - Pro Gear Cart, holds 60 lbs. of gear amzn.to/2GWfSQH
Medium Box - Pro Tool Box, holds 50 lbs. of gear amzn.to/2tXZNQT
Small Box - Pro Organizer amzn.to/2Li3f6Z
    Basket - Pro Box amzn.to/2uWetVi
RIDGID Professional Tool Storage Cart and Organizer Stack, 3 Tool Box Combination amzn.to/2PECGrb

Great idea! The Chuckboxes for sale on the internet are $300+, made of wood and heavy. The large or medium box may be enough to store my compact cook gear and the rest can store camp gear. Just need to figure how to create flat surfaces on the boxes to hold the burner and do meal prep. Perhaps the open lid can be propped up to act as a flat surface.

I really never thought of using my rigid storage boxes as a chuck box or organizational method for camping gear but thank you for the idea. It’s convenient, organized, doesn’t have a huge foot print in the car and is maneuverable.

After my last 5 day camp out I realized I needed a different org on my cooking items. Love the Kitchen Box ideas and will shop for them. I like best how they can separate and then stack all together when needed. I used regular bins but some kept rain out but some ended up oversized for the cooking items. I drive a Prius and like to pack boxes as the space fits. Thank you for the idea!

I just ordered this set to use as a grooming tote for our horses. I got the basket too so that I can keep it on top and put stuff in there for their bath so that the wet doesn't mildew in a closed box. Was glad to see that sitting on top of your review so I could see how it would look. Thank you!

I use these boxes as well. I discovered traveling in the Sierra, altitude changes will make them nearly impossible to open, so I drilled a small 3/16 hole in the bottom to prevent pressure or vacuum from building in them.

I have been searching and searching for a good chuck box option, as the $250-$350 chuck boxes you can purchase are limited in their functionality, and way too pricey given each option seems to lack some essential features (they're super heavy, not water or dust proof, too small, etc) This is wonderful, thanks for taking the time to make the video to share.

can't get enough of this brilliant idea. We have a property where electric & water don't feed so we set it up somewhat like a camp situation, all things are in bins which stack and that works ok. But what happens when we go on trips is this panic attack of "packing". We love packing as much as Po (kungfu panda) loves stairs. It's our nemesis! Your kitchen system might just b the answer. In Australia, I have the same identical boxes but are branded AEG Quickstack. I didn't get the cart box - as the wheels took up too much space. I instead got 2 x large box, 1 x crate box. Despite the different name, they look so alike, that I'm sure they were made from the same factory.

Beats the heck out of the one compartment Costco boxes I've been using for the last 30 years! The Yeti Loadout is the only gear box I've seen with a tray for organization, but they only come in one size, and the Yeti price tag is a bit steep. Great idea to use tool boxes!

I use a similar idea my 3 are connected and slide to open bottom drawers. The top I store canned and prepackaged foods, the middle is spices, coffee, tea, spoons, forks, knifes, and condiments, the bottom is all pots, pans, dishes, and other cooking utensils.

Good idea for camping. The wheels are a little small for use on dirt but they roll with a little effort. A few people asked about price. The three lidded boxes go for about 100 and the crate about 20. there is a new smaller box with a clear lid retails for 30 dollars. Thanks for the review

These storage box systems are - most obviously - adaptable to a considerable number of uses besides holding tools, etc.
To a degree I would think they could be used in place of regular luggage - their modular nature would allow easier handling & transport. People could decorate them with different designs so they don't all look alike.
    In a more bizarre thought...
perhaps homeless people could use them to haul their posetions (I don't know where they'd get the money to buy them... Details.. details!) it ok

While I love the idea, and it would work beautifully for me, I don’t think it would work well unless I did everything g (all camp set up, cooking, cleaning, and camp tear down). Others who would camp with me would never put stuff back where it belonged and the next time out nothing would be in the right place. But this is a brilliant idea!

I almost bought these today but was grossed out by the strong chemical smell coming out of the large box with the wheels. The store had 3 and they all reaked. I was planning on keeping my cooking gear and food in these, the smell really turned me off. Anyone else notice that issue? Does it go away with a wash and being aired out? I sure hope so. Some have commented about a strong smell, but I never thought much of it. I will say I wouldn't put bread or baked goods in it, that could absorb the off-gas, but for canned food, and seasonings in good containers, which is what I have in mine, I think they're fine.

Great video & great idea for Camp storage. Just curious, why not put a link to Home Depot directly?
You can buy all 4 pieces for $150.00 from Home Depot... Amazon wants $410.00 with shipping for
just 3 boxes & does not include the Basket unit. I mean no disrespect. Your video for organizing with
    these boxes is awesome!

Look at how old this video is. Prices change all the time and Home Depot doesn't offer affiliate links. As a consumer, you're free to shop where you'd like.

I haven't found a lock small enough to fit the latches that's stronger than tissue paper. Major design flaw IMHO but otherwise, I like them so far.

      @RachelinRealLife  6 лет назад +1

Maybe you could loop a cable through with a lock? I've recently come across the Milwaukee Packout storage system that looks pretty cool. Might be another option to check out, ruclips.net/video/gYm4W9HG2EE/видео.html

I'm thinking of adding a hasp to the front of the boxes that can accommodate a hefty padlock. I'll have to drill holes trough the box to attach the hasp, but I can seal it with some silicone. The big padlock needs to be big enough to accommodate a cable that I can attach to something immobile if need be. Two small padlocks through the existing latches should additionally deter any would-be thieves. I like the system so much, I bought a second, middle-sized box. :-D

Oh, you've already bought the boxes... That's a great idea for the locks!! You'll have to take a pic of your finished product.

watching u trying to open a complex chuck box for 2+ minutes is brutal. remeber the old west/plywood version only has one latch and folds out to a table. it takes about a few seconds for a real chuck box to be ready to cook from a packed state.
