I've always enjoyed the rear end on these. Those clear housing lenses with the red, circular brake lights with the secondary red lenses on the trunk just look so cool. Still looks modern. The interior, not so much. But the exterior styling aged gracefully.
Hard to believe but this design dates back to the Toyota Altezza from 1998. Compare the interior to a lot of 1990s cars and it was pretty much in line. Gauge cluster was def advanced for its time.
The first-generation style/look of the Lexus IS has always been my favourite. Even today, when I see one on the road or parked in someone's driveway, I still go ooooooooooo. lol.. Reid.
Epic video!! That thing is a beast! I heard your brother say the gearbox is from a Supra - did he have to do custom work to the gearbox and rear end to handle the torque? (Out of curiosity - who owns the 7th gen Civic coupe?)
The gearbox is a Getrag V161 which (as far as I know) only came in some later model 98+ Supras (non-USDM). The gearbox is already very stout in stock form, but this one has been rebuilt with some upgraded components to better handle the abuse. The rear-end has been converted to a Ford 8.8" with 3.31 gear set and Eaton Truetrac LSD. A custom 4.5" carbon driveshaft and upgraded axles also help get the power to the wheels. At this point there's not much left on the car that hasn't been upgraded in some way!
Love the sound 😆😆
@@BernonCars me too, pretty addicting!
beautiful garage and collection of cars.
Thanks!
I love this car!
The color, the wheels, the body color on the dash, the instruments in the center stack.. It's all so incredibly well done!
Couldn't agree more!
Your brother is blessing the greater Cedar City area

That's pretty sweet! Getting to drive something that nobody else ever drives is pretty special
Agreed, honored to take the wheel
Sweet vid. It's nice to have an excuse to get it out of the garage once in awhile.
Definitely

Agreed, the design has aged really well
That IS is serious. Nice
For sure, thanks!
Awesome car. Nice clean 7th gen Civic there too.
Nice little daily!
Gorgeous Lexus
For sure
beast. love it
Haha wish I had the bravery to push it harder
I'm thinking its all sound and no go. 😋
J/k, that's bonkers fast and a great sound.
Haha thanks Ty
You looked scared to me! 😃

Incredible!!
It's a pretty wild ride
Very Very good ❤
Thank you!
Did your brother replace the dash in the SportDesign himself or did he have Lexus do it? Would you happen to know how much it cost?
He will probably respond here but it was a pretty tedious DIY job using new factory parts. (Not cheap, I think!)
2:06 it's a race car. You HAVE to full-throttle redline clutch dump it and just use the wheel spin as a clutch.
Haha exactly
