I suffered my eleventh miscarriage this week, and I wasn’t sure how I would be able to Rejoice today. This sermon ministered directly to my wounded heart and has helped me to remember that joy is a gift from God. I asked Him to give me joy that I may rejoice in Him today, and He has. God bless you, Bishop Barron. Praise to our Lord Jesus Christ.
That’s a tremendous thing, entrusting your precious baby to the Lord’s care! I got bummed out over a parking ticket the other day and mustered enough composure to offer it up. How small a thing to offer compared to you. You have tremendous love and faith, Mater. ❤
Thank you for this. I suffer from depression. Was diagnosed with it about a year after my husband died 9 years ago. Then I found Father Mike Schmitz on RUclips. He helped me start my journey back to God. I am now no longer on depression medications. I still struggle with it now and then, but my trust is in God. I now attend daily mass. I returned to the Catholic church early this year. I am now at the point where my desire to die is so I can be with God, but I am learning to devote my life and heart to Him. I no longer desire suicide. 😊
I am so happy you have found your peace. May you continue to remember God loves you so much He gave us His only Son to die for you. May your trials be turned to joy as you model what it is to carry our crosses in this life ❤
"Let prayer be that attitude of life, where you consciously raise your mind and heart to God, and become aware of his presence in your life." *- Bishop Robert Barron*
I have found myself stopping in the middle of whatever it is and I speak those great words from Jesus, "This too shall pass." Sometimes it's immediately or an hour later God's great peace comes over me. Doing that has changed my life for the better.
I appreciate how Bishop Barron unpacks the words of St. Paul to show how we can tap into divine joy that transcends our circumstances because it brings us in tune with God Himself. Let us indeed rejoice always!
Thank you, Bishop Barron. I needed this homily because at the very moment that I listened to it I was in a mental conflict with something and someone-a situation that was bothering me. I found great comfort in your words. I realized that I was way too close to the surface. I am going to pray for the peace of Christ to guard my heart and mind.
God has given me physical limitations so I have to live in that peaceful centre. It has taken 80 years to be limited and I am just so at rest in Him, along with the Holy Spirit. Thank you dear brother.
I would also say it's a mysterious feeling of "assurance" that comes from deep within. The feeling of the Lord's supreme power supporting you. That's the mystical beauty of our Catholic faith that makes us rejoice.
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." *-Jesus* (Jn 14:27)
Thank you Bishop Barron for this sunday’s sermon; it prepares me for the mass of today, sunday 15/12/2024. I thank God Father for all catholic priests and bishops who follow Jesus, our Lord and Savior, in truth and love. Amen!
I like to give the example of being in a bad mood in the car and you are angrily mulling over something and you look out over a field and see a herd of cows. Instant mood changer. Ooh look at those cows! Emotions are fleeting, we have the choice to control them if we want and are practiced at it. God, may you always be my anchor in this ocean of fleeting stimuli.
No, no, this sermon is not advising you to control your emotions, or not to feel what you feel. You might as well say, don't see what you see! Emotions are not irrational, but rather sources of information about different situations. The situations change all the time, and emotions change with them. Neither Paul nor the good bishop is telling you to ignore your sadness, or your anger, or your pleasure - nor are they telling you to accept every situation without trying to change it. What they ARE saying is that when you come to the quiet center where Christ dwells in you, then you discover the joy that enables you to feel your emotions without being destroyed: you can suffer without being destroyed, you can celebrate without being destroyed, and you can afford to try to change things, because whether you succeed or whether you fail, you will not be destroyed.
@@linasaidso1355 I agree with you for the most part, but I do still think we are called to have order over our emotions. I may feel angry that an injustice was done and I can use that movement toward anger to see clearly the manner of that injustice, but I do have to have control over that anger. I cannot let it get away from me and move me to sin or act out or even to stay and fester in that anger. Learning that emotions can be ordered and not letting us get carried away with them is very important. Once I can reason why I'm moved toward an emotion, I use my reason to decide how I'm going to act on that emotion.
Once in a sermon the priest asked why Jesus had to say Peace be with you 2 times when He appeared in their mist for the first time after His resurrection. The first time He said it, the disciples were full of emotions The second time it helped them calm down.
Very inspiring! 🙏 -Live in the centre of the wheel! -Detachment from the world! -“Holy hour” be with God! “Guard your minds and hearts in Christ Jesus!”
Such a beautiful and timely sermon! 🙏 The peace that only Christ can give is beyond understanding. Thank you, Bishop Barron, for reminding us of where true peace comes from.

Thank you, Bishop. I always appreciate you. Giving thanks to God for all He has gifted me. And giving thanks to God that He called you to teach us to follow Him.

Thank you Bishop Barron for your indept homily. I have learned this in live. No matter what the situation is, always rejoice, be grateful and thankful to God. And this brings the inner peace I can go forward in life. Be blessed. Have a peaceful 3rd Sunday of Advent. 🙏🏾🕊💞🇦🇼
Wounderful, wounderful, wonderful teaching!!! ❤️❤️❤️Thank you so much Bishop Burron!🙏 Throughout very tuff circumstances…we almost lost one of our daughters in anorexia (she is well now, thanks be to God!!!🙏) I got fatigue syndrome and had incredible anxiety and panic attacks, my DH also got fatigue syndrome AND deep depression, big economic problems…and we had two small children and three others except our very sick daughter…It was so awful and scary I can’t describe it! BUT throughout all this I learned to relax and pray in a meditative way in my heart! Hang on to the rosary!! There I found Jesus and Mary carrying me through each moment, each day!!! AND when I was in the Holy Mass I felt free! Joyful and careless full of peace!!! An hour in heaven!! 🙏❤️🙌 And then back in the car on the way home the battle was all over me again!!! But even thou this was incredibly hard and painful I thank God for these 7-8 yrs of trials! 🙏Because he showed me him self suffering on the cross, showed me how he carried all my pain together with me and I his together with him!! 🙏❤️💔And I found that inner Castle of peace!! 🙏 I have ADHD and am on the autistic spectrum. Before this yrs I couldn’t get my self to pray in this meditative way!! I was far to restless... Thank you, thank you Jesus and Mary and all the Saints that’s been praying for me! 🙏❤️
I had always wondered how the Saints could endure such pain and torture by the hands of man. But, now I understand they could because they had removed themselves from this world and found inner peace where no amount of pain or suffering touched them physically or psychologically.
This is a beautiful and powerful homily. To put those words in prayer, meditation, and having a conversation with God lifts the entire being to a place that makes the world insignificant. Thanks, Bishop Barron!!
I pray for an increase in faith, hope, love, mercy & forgiveness. I pray that I desire detachment from this world and desire for You, alone, Lord. I pray for detachment from worldly people and things. I pray the prayer of St. John the Baptist; HE must increase. I must decrease. ♥️🙏🏼💙 In His Holy Name, through her Immaculate Heart.

Bishop Barron quoted St. Paul for that.

It's not a Bible verse. It's Bishop's commentary, which is today's Sermon, on St. Paul's letter to the Philippians.

Bishop Barron you have such a beautiful gift from God. Thank you for sharing that gift with all of us. God bless you.
"Detachment" is not "don't care" but "without selfishness" ... "without self interest" ... or rather: "indifference to the self ..."
Thank you! I think this needs to be clarified....I think it could be misinterpreted as be without feeling (for others)
"Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding
will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."
